When we talk about games that are giving value for their cost, one of the best in my opinion would have to be Dying Light. Techland developed it and WB released it in 2015. Now it's almost 2020 and Dying Light 2 has been announced to be released sometime in the first half of 2020 yet STILL Techland is releasing new content for the original Dying Light. This isn't paid for DLC's that you can run, this is added content/community advents with gear & weapons for participating. Now, IMHO that's how a company SHOULD be treating it's customers! NOT all this "Buy the season pass! Ooops! We're sorry,we forgot to mention that you need 4 season passes every year...{cough/bungie} (4 seasons in a year don't U know??)"

Maybe if more companies took care of their base like Techland with Dying Light or CD Projekt Red with it's 3 main Witcher games people would be more willing to keep games AND suggest them to others. Dying Light Enhanced Edition is on sale on Steam for $17.99(includes the following, year 1 season pass,+ other items/features) Screenshot_173.thumb.jpg.d1ea362f1fa37c598122c04f4aef0eaa.jpg Hope ya enjoy!

I had actually completely forgotten about Dyling Light, I remember when it was first released and I was impressed by what I saw but never go around to buying and playing it. I will have to take a look. I agree though that more companies should follow suit and add to their game without there always having to be a purchase for it. I never buy DLC in principle to be honest. I also watch for reviews to make sure that a game I am interested in can be ''Completed'' in whole without having to buy DLC in order to get the full game. This has happened in the past and it is a poor ass approach.

Yeah, when I bought Destiny 2 a while back I got it with the Forsaken expansion and the Season pass. The next year they had a new season pass with new content which floored me,cause I was use to Witcher with 1 season pass giving me ALL the DLC ever released for the game. That's when I swore I wouldn't keep paying over & over for a pass either season or annual.LOL, Now they've moved Destiny2 off the Battle.net servers onto Steam and made the core game FREE.Kinda makes us feel like we wasted money.

Changes like that are annoying when you had to jump through hoops and then suddenly else where it is free or somehow better. I guess it comes into the same category as adopting bleeding edge tech....you have to deal with those teething issues lol

Bit late to the discussion, but I gotta say, played Dying Light with a friend a couple years back and just didn't really enjoy it much. Gameplay felt really repetitive and empty, and I wasn't a big fan of the story/characters. It seems I'm in the minority, but it just really didn't feel like it was worth my time.

Is it one of those super linear gameplay models ? Just wondering.

No, I wouldn't call it really linear from what I remember, but my big gripe was that combat and the little features of the core gameplay weren't terribly interesting to me, so a large chunk of the game had no appeal. The only reason why I finished it was I played through the whole thing with a friend and we fooled around enough to make it fun.

I have played a few games like that. It is like having that friend over at an event to fill those awkward moments.

  • 2 months later...

lol, 5th anniversary of dying light so they're having a 4 week celebration! "Dying Light, still one of the best survival games around five years on, will be free to play on Steam this weekend."

Edit:Including a screenshot of the patch released on 2/20/2020 Damn! This is GAME SUPPORT! :D27accc7bfd6d.jpg
