Microsoft launches Surface Book 3 with new Nvidia GPU options, up to 32GB of RAM, and faster SSDs

The Surface Book 3 will ship with Intel’s latest 10th Gen processors, with the base 13.5-inch model starting at $1,599 for a quad-core Core i5, and the 15-inch version using a quad-core Core i7 processor priced starting at $2,299. While the most basic 13.5-inch model will include Intel’s built-in Iris Plus graphics, there will be an option to move up to an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Max-Q model (starting at $1,999). The 15-inch model ships with a GTX 1660Ti or businesses can upgrade to a Quadro RTX 3000 GPU starting at $3,499.

Those be some nice specs, but I just can never get over the pricing. I Accept that packing all that into such a small form factor is no small R&D task and there will always be a cost associated with that..but still lol. Oh and thanks for the typo head-sup, all sorted :)

Yeah the pricing from MS is usually pretty steep, but I recently purchased the highest spec Surface Pro 6, so a generation or two old now, for hundreds off MSRP on Amazon. I think it was a pretty good deal, and I enjoy using it. I can work with 3000 part Solidworks files... acceptably. Certainly better than I expected.

Nice ! Glad to see a fellow Solidworks user ! That is what I use in my day job lol. Good to see that it does so well with so many parts. The one thing I wish Solidworks was, and that is less linear but the nature of all the rebuilds is linear, just blows as Solidworks really is a single core/speed lover over multi core (Unless you are rendering)

I use Solidworks for FSAE so we're always working on parts and assemblies stored on our server since we're all working from the shop, our apartments, or depending on the time of year, any other location in the country. As a result, network speeds (sometimes over a VPN if you're not on the campus network), is the real bottleneck. Gets annoying sometimes, but the system works well otherwise for what we have to work with.

I hear you. Solidworks really suffers if you are working over a network and pulling files over it from a central server with lots of users (especially VPN). That is why lots end up with PDM but the company I work for is not big enough to warrant PDM so we still pull files from the work server, however in all honesty it seldom causes an issue as we are a 3 man team, so all is good.
