Binned Intel CPUs are Selling for Less Than Untested Chips from Amazon & Newegg

The Intel Core i5-10600K is currently retailing for $289.99 and $299.99 respectively on Amazon and Newegg which is well above Intel's suggested MSRP of just $262. This has created a bizarre situation where it is currently better value to purchase the CPU from Silicon Lottery where it has been verified to overclock to a set amount. Silicon Lottery sells multiple binned variants of the chip ranging from 4.7 GHz - 5.1 GHz max all-core overclock with prices starting at $289.99 going all the way up to $419.99. The $299.99 option which is guaranteed to overclock to 4.9 GHz on all 6 cores, and 5.0 GHz on up to 2 cores is arguably the best value option for the chip currently.

Love it. If that was the case and I was in the market, I would certainly go to silicon lottery. Used them before with my 4790K and it was awesome !

I have yet to use Silicon Lottery myself, every time I'm in the market for a CPU, they never have stock on the "cheaper" options, mind you that was also pre-Ryzen as with Ryzen I just never bothered even trying to overclock them from my laziness and desire for just a stable system for every day usage.

I don't blame you. To be honest for all arguments sake, unless you are chasing numbers then PBO does a good job. As long as you have a good cooling solution you can kind of let PBO do its thing.

Yep, triple rad keeps my 2600x nice and healthy for gaming, I can't remember what exact cooler I have in my server, but its a side-flow 92mm with Noctua fans and Gentle Typhoons on the front of a rack mounted case forcing lots of air across the system.
