  1. When this was originally released I thought the combination was mildly interesting in terms of having a decent APU available for budget rigs, although I guess it's a very small amount of budget rigs that actually end up using one of these, because of the poor cost benefit.
  2. GTX 1650 wasn't already looking very hot behind the relatively outdated RX 570. The Turing design does seem to benefit a lot from memory clocks though, so releasing a 1650 Super seems to be a no brainer, but all these Super cards unfortunately just confuses the customers.
  3. I wonder why they pack this many improvements into one single firmware update, rather than try to be a bit more iterative and frequent so the enthusiasts can provide feedback where necessary. I realize that the important people are likely already on some sort of bleeding edge version, but we haven't heard anything about any of these updates from even the big YouTubers, other than what we can likely expect (such as proper clocking). While AMD has been signaling some effort towards fixing the clocking issues that are present with the current firmwares (and they've been making good attempts, especially with the AGESA version ABBA), they haven't kept us very well up to date, and vendors have been slow in implementing these updates that have happened, so I think the users deserves some transparency as to what is being fixed.
  4. Looks cool. Not really worth the price though tbh. I imagine the dropping risk would be similar to other smartphones, except you now have all sides to worry about. I think one thing to keep in mind is that you can't really buy a cover for this phone, but I think most people who could afford one, could also afford to replace it, should it be damaged from a drop.
  5. For anyone playing Beat Saber with the Index controllers, I suggest looking at the mod SaberTailor (or a fork by Pespiri HERE) to angle the sabers downward 20-30 degrees. It makes low bottom->up hits significantly easier to score well on, which is much less stressful on your joints.
  6. Interesting. When I think about AOSP in a nutshell, I think about the stock apps like Calendar and especially Keyboard being horrible. These apps are (almost) functionally the same as they were +3 years - if not more - ago, which means if you want new features you have to use Google's proprietary software. I guess it is technically still AOSP to use an AOSP base and proprietary Google applications on top, but it is not the same as full-stack AOSP back in the Android 2.x days. Arguably, for the optimal user experience today, you would have to use said proprietary apps, which I don't blame anyone doing. (small disclaimer, I have not used AOSP for a couple of years because of poor compatibility with my previous Samsung phones. My current phone (Nokia 8) has almost-AOSP out of the box but uses the aforementioned proprietary Google apps as any recent Android would)
  7. With inside-out tracking, once the controllers go out of Line of Sight of the head unit you lose _some_ tracking precision as the job is mostly left to gyros and accelerometers, which does not have 0 drift. Imagine doing aiming-down-sights on these controllers - they might handle it well, but I would like to see some more real world impressions. Lighthouse v1 technology has not particularly impressed me in some use cases, so I would not be surprised if the inside-out tracking offered by Vive Cosmos and the Rift S being the same, if not better in some regards. I'd imagine the technology to be perfectly fine for 99% of use cases though, although I'd personally still prefer my base stations for that back-of-the-mind comfort that my missed notes in Beat Saber is just because I suck, and not because of the technology. Still, an easy to set up VR headset that is within budget of many gamers is a welcome addition. Too often do I hear people having a poor VR experience because they do not have good mounting options for their base stations.
  8. Yeah, not sure how they're better technically, but they're much better design wise. I don't knock them together as often in Beat Saber as with the Vives.
  9. I think Apple is moving in the right direction by having the developer mode for iOS. Unfortunately it breaks iTunes sync while enabled. Android, or more specifically, Google has been going in the Apple direction for many years now. A lot of the Android software used to be FOSS (free and open source), but almost all the applications on a "stock" Android phone are replaced either by the OEM (e.g. Samsung a few years ago) or the proprietary software by Google themselves. The only things that seem to be staying FOSS are the ones where the license dictates it. It just means that relatively speaking, an iPhone is looking more attractive because Apple is seemingly working towards making the system better for power users, while Android seems to strangle the power users. If you use a fully AOSP-based (Android Open Source Project) OS on your phone, the experience truly becomes one of 10-year old Android with the visuals of today. I personally hope we see an open phone again - Android is not worthy of that title any more. At least I can still have my Android phone up-to-date and rooted, and still dodge root-detection from stuff like bank apps. On an iPhone today you'd be pretty limited in the amount of apps you could realistically use in developer mode. More on topic, however, the price drop is nice for everyone as it causes competition. Cheaper prices on iPhones should mean similarly specced Androids see a similar drop in price.
  10. No better way to initiate a forum than to have a meme thread. Keep in mind even though we're 18+ to keep it respectful. Try not to shitpost too hard. Memes. Cringe. Pick your poison. 11. Nice, car games are a bit in the future. The hardware broke the bank quite well. We have Beat Saber and Superhot VR for now. In contrast to the HTC Vive I really enjoy the much improved visuals. The screen-door effect is much less obvious (you really have to look for it), and the controller design is just superb. I think the Vive controllers are bound to slip out of your hand eventually.
  12. Yes hello. Not the actual owner, but our household is getting one the coming week.
