  1. High-end Z690 boards are killer. Can't go wrong with an ACE and MSI motherboards have been pretty good these past few years in my experience. Not to mention that the 690 looks better than the 790 in my opinion.

You're going to need that network adapter because both boards come with shitty Intel 2.5 Gig networking. By going with the 690 you also lose "features" such as 5.0 M.2 support that no one really needs and you get worse memory support in theory. Of course, we know by now that the CPU's IMC is what truly matters most when it comes to that. An ACE board won't limit memory overclocking in any meaningful way unless you're doing XOC. Same goes for CPU overclocking.

You could also try to find a Z690 Unify if you're looking to get the most bang out of your buck. It is basically a cheaper ACE with essentially the same features minus the bling. The ACE boards have never made sense where there's been a Unify model in the same lineup.

  2. I was on Android for 9 years from 2011 to 2020, when I got my first iPhone. Android is cool when you're like 15 years old and you're flashing a custom ROM or Kernel every week and you're adding custom icon packs and sh 1 t. As you mature a bit, your tinkering patience goes way down and you realize that you just want your tech to work. This is especially true if you're working in IT and you have to do lots of troubleshooting for other people. You just get tired of tinkering. That's where Apple comes in. No matter the situation, my iPhone just works. There is no lag or jankyness (lag is exactly what made me switch from the OnePlus 6T btw). The iPhone may not do everything a flagship Android phone does, but that's fine with me. This is coming from someone who has spent time tuning their RAM btw. It's about peace of mind, not about me being knowledgeable or not. My priorities have changed. I'd rather spend my time tinkering with my computer than my phone. Or better yet, play games or go out and not tinker at all. Wouldn't it be great if technology just worked? Imagine that!

Apple understands that technology should not be an inconvenience. What I love most of all is the fact that you only have one choice: the iPhone, not 500 options like on Android. I can't be bothered to deal with that and I shouldn't have to. That's what the future should be like: You have a 'phone', you play games on your 'computer' and everything just works. No brand, no choice, everyone is using the same devices, everyone is connected in the same way. Devices adapt to each individual's needs, as they should, not the other way around. You need a new phone? No problem, just walk into the store and say "I'd like to buy a phone". Then they sell you the same phone everyone else on the planet has. Simple, not like the rubbish we deal with today. That's what an advanced civilization would do and Apple is the closest to achieving that. People are more divided than they've ever been and it's holding us back. Instead of using technology to enhance our lives and connect with people, we're arguing why our devices are better than the other person's.

32". Mini-LED is a joke compared to OLED, and Samsung's "HDR2000" garbage marketing is a lie. It's 1000 peak nit brightness.

The QC on my monitor is fine. Zero dead pixels, no issues besides things not related to the specific panel. Biggest one for me, is that the monitor goes into deep-sleep in 3 seconds, and then takes 15 seconds to turn back on. There is no way to turn this off. Took me the longest to realize that the monitor takes so long to power on, that if you don't manually wake it prior to rebooting during, lets say, memory overclocking/retraining, then you'll just get a black screen all the way to Windows. If you try and go into the BIOS, you'll get no video and have to reboot/remember to wake the monitor.

The last firmware update (that was released only on their Korean website, for some reason) did help with horrendous HDR performance. The blooming was so atrocious I didn't use HDR for the first ~8-12mo of owning the monitor. It's much better now, but how the * they decided to advertise HDR so much, and then released a bloom-fest, is beyond me.

It'll be the last Samsung monitor I ever own.

Thanks. Lots of useful information there. Yeah, OLED is cool but I'm not spending $1200 on a display only to get burn-in within a few months. I use my monitor for work too and probably 14h+ each day so OLED is out of the question for me.

My body is ready. I can't stand this Samsung NEO G7.. looking forward to dumping it. Just waiting on the LG (or ASUS rebrand panel). I think it'll be worth it to wait for WOLED.

Is your Neo G7 the 43" or the 32"? I was looking at the 32" Neo G7 as a replacement for my GL850. From what I read, Samsung QC is absolutely horrible but I'm willing to return a few until I get a decent one.

  5. If true, I'm not a fan of this decision. This will hurt their Radeon brand a lot. Casual shoppers already perceive Radeon as a cheap, low-quality alternative to GeForce, as they have for the past 15 years or so. Lack of high-end products will only make that worse. Not to mention that this could hurt innovation in the software department at AMD. What's the point of releasing FSR 3 and all that other stuff if you don't have any hardware to run it on?

He/she is allowed to express there use cases, if they have not had any issues then that is fine, some people don't, whereas some people do, no need to be rude.

They always try to downplay the issues that actually exist in order to defend their precious brand. That's the only reason why they type that. People who actually have no issues don't spend their time on forums defending tech companies. They play games because everything works.

3 posts in a row really? AMD got you that mad? That logic i could claim Nvidia in the same light based on issues i had with their cards over the years. These days the whole "Drivers bad" argument sounds more like propaganda when targeting a brand. I mean look at your avatar with the RTX logo. Seriously though driver issues are not specific to one brand its bound to happen for all.

Hover your mouse over my profile picture, see what pops up. Maybe read my signature too.

I agree, they're not specific to one brand but AMD had way way way more of them.

AMD drivers are not the best.
Up until recently, when I purchased a 2070 and a 2070 max Q, I was an AMD user.

    I started with Quadfire (4 x 4890XXX Black Edition), moved to crossfire (2 x 270x), and ended up with a single 280x.

I was plagued by driver issues for years.

This whole AMD FineWine (tm) is not my thing.

Since I moved to NVIDIA, everything just works.

I agree. So true. Plug an Nvidia card in, drag the sliders to the right, that's it. It just works whereas my AMD experience is as follows:

    - Random driver crashes and restarts (R9 270X)

    - Green artifacts in Chrome (RX 580)

    - Black screens, drivers crashes, low GPU usage for no reason, random downclocking to 300 MHz for no reason (5700XT)

    Ok there Jensen....lol

Seriously though, I've ran a myriad of cards since ATI, nVidia, 3dfx; you name it, chances are I had one.

I have two AMD cards now; a 5700xt and a 5700. I experience NONE of the issues people were discussing. Over that past 7-8 years I've had 2x R9 290s, a 980 ti and 1080 ti and more recently the 5700 cards; one at work and one at home.

I've never really experienced any driver issues with any. I think the "AMD drivers suxor" is vastly overblown. Are AMD's software features up to nVidia's? Of course not. But it's nowhere near the problematic mess people talk about.

Of course, I'm perfectly willing to admit that I'm a sample size of one, but as you go off your experience, mine was completely different.

We don't care that you've never had issues. Many other people have and AMD drivers are much worse than Nvidia's. That's a fact. Nothing's overblown.

It's news worthy, but is there anything note worthy that we wouldn't already expect? Generational phone improvements have gotten to be pretty insignificant so I'm asking if there is anything that stands out about the 12?

I like the new design and the fact that the less expensive iPhone now has an AMOLED display with a much greater resolution. Plus 5G will be pretty cool eventually I guess...
