So I got a good deal on a CPU I wasn't planning on buying ðŸ˜…

    Epyc 4564P which is basically a 7950X.

I want to grab an X870E Nova whenever those are back in stock then I'll toss this in my main rig. I still want a 9800X3D at some point, but I'll wait until they go on sale.

It's not on the supported CPU list for the Gene, but works fine

Nice! Where'd you pick that guy up?

  2. From my point of view, the hosting strategy must change. Have an email out to find out more about Invision hosting EHW as a service to simplify the overall configuration and potentially reduce costs.

  3. Thought this was interesting to see the NZXT CEO talk to JayzTwoCents. The explanations make sense but I just don't get the feeling the CEO was actually unhappy with the partners way of handling the subscription. Really felt like all the CEO wanted to communicate this was mostly not NZXT's fault but the damage is done to NZXT, not the partner nobody will ever normally shop from directly.

I wish the Intel GPUs could fold since I'm sure I'll buy another for the novelty ðŸ˜…

Nvidia just wrecks everything else at folding. The PPD on the 40 series is nuts. My 4070 Ti will do a few million PPD more than my 3090 while using half the power.

I'll probably pick up one of the B series cards too, bummer I maybe/probably can't fold on it after benchmarking / overclocking fun.

EDIT: Also yea, my 4070 Super wrecks my 2070, 5x faster

  5. The response is definitely lack luster. They need to spend time looking into what they put on their website.. Would have liked to see something along the lines of these subscriptions are on hold (minimum) or some kind of lose commitment that there will be change.

    Edit:

    Here's JayzTwoCents video:

Lessons learned on advertising terms but that's life. I don't follow many people on Twitch but I have to wonder if NZXT would attempt to go into overdrive finding streamers to help push the news out of people's minds.

  6. That's an awesome idea! Cant wait to see progression pictures.

I'd love to do something similar at some point, there's definitely something cool about making old equipment shine. Reminds me of the Modstek treatment for older hardware (YouTube)

  7. Bad look for everyone involved. Lessons learned hopefully for the paid partners and NZXT. PE overloards must be appeased but I would have to think there was probably a better strategy out there. The bit about the layoffs and handling of it combined with this leasing sham screams poor management in terms of 'business sense' let alone someone who is really tuned into what the gaming community wants to buy.

That would be pretty great if true. A cheap Intel 4070 equivalent would really shake things up.

If I had to guess, the Arc cards are most desired now for the A310 since homelabbers use them for transcoding. They need something to grab some attention. I am prepared to be disappointed but still, I want it to be good. All the media says the product line is super slimmed down, hoping between whatever they do produce at the low-end to mid range is at least competitive with what AMD is cooking up on performance and cost. Guessing being competitive on power won't happen. The $300 and below range is just bad. I tested an RX 7600 a while ago and it was OK but like everyone else thought, cost too much and wasn't exciting.

  9. Very cool! Would it make sense to rearrange the newest series towards the top of the sheets vs scrolling down? Also, I like the little bit of color on the first page, I think adding some color maybe for the flagships to help make it a little easier to read quickly / at a glance . Maybe a light green fill or one of the cells or something.

I don't know why exactly this is but Intel dGPU's are just kind of exciting to me. I still haven't picked one up yet though, always on the edge of buying a lower-end Arc for AV1 / transcoding but outside of that the usefulness is limited. I really do want to see these succeed and provide another option that maybe brings some prices back into reality for gamers.

FireOS is an operating system based on android without google. It's by Amazon and used in their tablets and tv's. You can sideload the playstore and google play services onto it.

I think if they are forced to sell android(which could be a good thing)it would make it easier for small devices to have os's created for them after support ended.

    Expand

That neat - to be honest, I don't follow the AOSP / ROM stuff much anymore. I had to google it, I ight have mixed up GrapheneOS with LineageOS, either way its nifty people are still building these ROMs. Do you have any experience with these OS's and sideloading Google Play services? I usually always have a Pixel kicking around but I've never tried any of these.

It seems that if the phones weren't quite so locked down maybe they could thrive once again.

  12. Nice, looks like an interesting game. Wow at those system specs - I only read the article linked, will watch the video later but, definitely going to break some hearts there. Is this dev known for putting out performance updates or do we just need the 5000 series now?

Edit: Finished the video, looks good outside if the minor shadow grows they mentioned. Brutal on that Ryzen 3600 and in that underground room with the NPCs and an x3d.

  13. I think I am not well educated on the topic of what DOJ can do, or will do, or the timelines it will work on, or any other tactics it might employ in various scenarios but, I suspect you're right in that any action will take a long time to occur.

It's interesting to see the take on this from some of the investing YouTube channels I watch. Some believe Google is simply doing its job and there's no issue (quite a funny thing to argue IMO). One suggested that it's possible the parts might be worth more than the sum which is an interesting though, for investors at least. I think Apple collects about ~$20B(?) annually from Google for default search 'rights' for example. Changes to the way Google works will have far and wide reaching impacts.

DOJ is pretty serious. Hopefully that carries forward into the next administration. Android would be so much better without google.

Seems about as clearcut as it can be in terms of monopoly status but, I don't know if I believe much action will actually occur.

Android would be interesting but I feel that would cause problems for Android users. I do remember though that some older Louis Rossman video where he tested GrapheneOS (I think?) and without the Google Play services running, he regained an astonishing amount of usable battery life, something* like days worth? Was surprising
