My server compiles Gentoo packages regularly to distribute to network computers, so the faster single core will be handy in decompression and compression tasks too.
For compression and decompression zen2 did already really well do, but sure zen3 will blow it out of the water :-)

Which reminds me, is there a dark theme for this site? That's about the only thing I really like in the platform change, frontpage, rigbuilder, and all other crap that is broken, I can't understand that they did it again, it was exactly the same when they went to Vbulletin.

Lucky that before SSD's completely pass out they tend to degrade to a level where they are barely usable due to their performance degradation. Having multiple busy production servers on SSD's its not uncommon for performance to completely go to hell before they go out(we have redundant clusters for all our systems so it isn't a problem to take a node out and rebuild it when necessary). In the consumer space I've had a similar experience with an nvme SSD that would go to hell when having it on for a minute or 10, managed to boot of a usb key, duplicate my files and replace the thing before data loss(I also have weekly backups so I'm not too worried).

Reluctantly, that comment regarding the OCN community in the other thread did actually hit home. It's not all about money and selling our replies to advertising networks(for those that haven't disabled all that crap by default). Its about getting help and helping others with pushing our hardware to the limit and only occasionally breaking it. Without OCN I wouldn't have dared to delid my 3770k add LM to it and run it comfortably at 5Ghz
