  1. I hear good things about the current Asus Sage TRX 50 4-channel also re. R-DIMM DDR5 oc - unlike the WRX 90 8-channel which probably needed more dev and bios tuning time before its release. BTW, I still run my old X399 MSI Creation (below) with a TR 2950X and 8 dimms now and 3 GPUs (3090, 2x 2080 Ti). That MSI board was (is) great but the 2950X is getting a bit dated, especially when compared to my Aorus 670E Master / 7950X3D / DDR5 8200 setup.
  2. ...when I was youngish, more foolish and tooling around in a 2nd-hand TransAm WS6 TA 400 cid (Pontiac block, not the 403 Oldsmobile), I went through tires and brake-pads on a highly regular basis...now, I have my tires last for about 80k km and brake pads more than 60k on the X5, just by changing my driving style (and manual override on the tranny). ...speaking of that TransAm, it was a hoot to drive in and around Muskoka and around Trent Universty in Peterborough (snowbelt )...it did have Posi Trac diff and oodles of torque - a great way to learn winter driving in Canada
  3. ...looking forward to your R-DDR5 4-channel results....Asus Sage mobo ? R-DIMM rated speed ? I have seen a few folks at another forum with 7960X and 7980X on the Asus mobo w/overclocking, including R-DDR5 to 7200. I am on the fence for a mew work-play system re. 79xx TR, or wait for the 99xx TR (Zen5 cores). This time, the socket should remain the same, so they say...
  4. In June this year, my LG C1 48 OLED will be three years old. Its primary task is on my gamer w/4090, and that is not always on - but still, I do use it regularly for hours at a time. No burn-in so far, noting that the more recent LG OLED's have software that helps to guard against burn-in you can turn on and off (I have that software enabled). I should add that I also use the LG C1 as a second television in addition to its gamer monitor functions. ...have been eyeing a G3 55 with MLA at the same place where I got my C1 48 and other monitor / tv equipment such as an older LG 55 IPS HDR. The G3 55 picture seems even more gorgeous (brighter) in the store than the C3, though my C1 actually has the brightness turned down anyway given its positioning in my home office. The G3 will undoubtedly get cheaper, and the MLA feature (for additional brightness) is likely to make it into future 'C' models.
  5. The setup below used to be my top gamer in late 2018 and 2019 - - a MSI Creation X399 with a Threadripper 2950X which has dual RTX 2080 Tis for company. Since then I also added a RTX 3090 Strix OC to the two 2080 Tis. The 3090 is the one below the CPU and RAM at a 45 degree angle. These days, it is used for ML and as a render machine. All three GPUs combined score similar to a single oc'ed RTX 4090 on Octane bench, such is progress. There may be a bit more in it for the 3090 in the Final Fantasy: Dawntrail benchmark (as usual, maximum settings & 4K) as this setup is not optimized for benching, but it still does pretty good considering that it is over five years old
  6. Nice and comprehensive runs ! Here is my 5950X / Radeon 6900XT combo from my daily productivity system. The 6900XT is running the stock bios (no 200 W boost via MPT, may be later ).
  7. Recently got 2x 24GB of GSkill 8400 ('for future reference') to join my 7200 kit and ran them as 96GB CL30 6400 without any issue. Then it was time for fun and use just the new kit for some gaming and a bit of benching at CL36 8200
  8. Most of these kind of cars only come with run-flats (this is my 3rd X5). Over the years, run-flats have greatly improved compared to their early years - and so far at least, the new Pirelli Scorpions are super-smooth even over rougher roads yet handle well.
  9. ...new Pirelli tires (run-flats), synthetic 5W40 oil change and brake fluid flush...not cheap, but maintenance items that had to be done
  10. There is a new Final Fantasy Benchmark called 'Dawntrail' available > here Here's a quick run with my 7950X3D / 4090 water-cooled combo for DLSS and FSR versions (clocks held the same)
  11. ...very much an arms race, with AI fueling both 'attack' and 'defense' in the near future - or how about Quantum computing in tandem with AI ? ...I've got a paper map of the Yukon for a reason
