  1. i have no idea if this will work but here is the audio version (realaudio inside a mov file because i wanted it to be under 8MB and cursed file formats are fun, VLC opens it just fine)
and you can have a normal version too that isn't cursed. (a M4A but MP4 so i could upload it)

i've been doing this for the past couple episodes of the podcast... but i see they aren't posted which is fine ? from now on i'll post them in the podcast threads for people who want that. i'm making sure to make em small and still sound good enough for a car ride

  2. man, my mac mini is just getting 10hr work unit after 10hr work unit. i need to get more machines folding to compensate!

EDIT: its about like 50-80k PPD btw on all 8 cores (4 performance 4 efficiency) and that is ~15 watts ish and this is the cheapest m1 mac mini with 8GB ram and the small internal storage. might maybe be a good thing to buy a ton of and stick in a closet and just have crunch crap LOL

    Whats the PPD like?

for the most part the little spikes are the m1. the big big spike was a 3090. the newest spike was my 2070s. i can't hfm.net to the mac mini reliably. heck, i can barely get any folding client even locally to talk to the core itself reliably, its weird. so i can't get good ppd numbers.

Nice, you going to review the M1 ?

maybe. i ran benchmarks and collected data already. i just don't have a good spin that feels interesting enough to write about. i've been using it as my tv computer that replaced my shieldtv. its been working great as that plus it kicks-ass at emulation. that might be a neat angle to go about for the review.

I think they used to be published on other avenues but not sure if that is the case anylonger. I agree though they are hilarious and news filled, a win win.

We do publish this on our Twitter and Facebook.

yeah, about that. i have no idea how or where all of those other places were posted to. just extract the audio out of the youtubes an upload em there i guess.

  5. I'd love to have a second 2080ti in my system for folding, but the power usage is already a bit high (~37 euro's a week for both systems at 1kw/h).

With an other added 300W it would be almost 50 euro's for electricity a week for folding alone, and it's also getting a bit warm in my room :p

I threw around this suggestion back at ocn with cynical and simmons... I pay a fixed rate for my electricity where I live cuz reasons. If anyone in the USA (or further away) wanted a dedicated folding rig running and they didn't like the possible power costs, I'd be glad to house a computer and get it up and running if ppl just wanted to send the rigs to me :-P. I swear I'm trustable. The points would be in your user name, I won't steal anything. I'll just house the computer and make sure it is running top notch.

I can't honor this right now cuz other things going on but I'll plant the seed of the idea now so I can bring it up again later on.

  6. I guess I'll post this in this thread. @axipher gave me a backup of the server to see if I could convert it to bedrock for RTX.

I have to mess around with the resource packs a bit more. The mix I'm using now has too many blocks set with decorative textures instead of being what they are in game. That bright red glowing terracotta as an example.

  7. I'm only now jumping on the VPN train. Especially with that whole FBI no warrant search history stuff going on. I mean, honestly, that won't totally protect things since "cloud" but whatever.

I have two VPNs right now but I'm willing to try out more paid ones if they have enough glowing praise from people on here. The two I'm using are kind of meh, not bad, but it does suck losing all my internets speeds when I use 'em. Keepsolid and Surfshark. I dunno, impulse buys and they had deals. Both perform about the same when I set my router to connect to them and route all my WAN to them.

  8. I have tried VR, I liked it. Perhaps it is the old school gamer in me, I still love rocking the chair, keyboard and mouse.

I've played every VR game that I have so far just in my chair. Just never got around to mounting the base stations in the corners of my living room. Yeah I punch my monitor a couple times but whatever lol.
