  1. Nvidia has officially ended SLI support. https://www.tomshardware.com/news/the-end-of-sli-as-we-know-it-nvidia-reveals-new-model
  2. It's not going to get better. As an OEM where I work we get priority over individual resellers (newegg) and if you want to buy a system with a 3xxx card the backlog is getting to be longer and longer. it MIGHT get back to normal by 2022.
  3. The tariff did it's job, any objections to these tariffs are purely political. The point of tariffs is to encourage domestic manufacturing and sales. It did that.
  4. The reason Apple is singled out is two fold. 1) Their margins are insane. I mean INSANE. 2) They do more volume than all the other companies you listed combined. ASUS, ASrock, MSI, etc. They didn't even do 10% of what the iPhone did last year. APPL's market capitalization is 2.4 trillion dollars. Almost twice what Amazon's is. Think about how massive Amazon is and how much business they do. APPL is double that.
  5. This is AMDs first revision of RT hardware. Compare it to a 2080ti and then resubmit the results.
  6. Where I work I saw an NDA slide that showed workstation systems being released in 2022 with DDR5
  7. How are they going to cool this in mobile units? I'll be interested to see these in my lab.
  8. Did the entire shroud design also fall through the QA? If you watch the tear down on GN it shows pretty clearly that the cover causes heat issues. They had to have known.
  9. Sorry I just sawt this. The reason is to force people to use two things: #1 Your OS #2 A registered copy of your OS If Windows becomes subscription based this would be a good way to turn off any board that doesnt update their subscription. I've found no way to circumvent it. The chips are with ODMs and OEMs now.
  10. Underwhelming and disappointing on availability and pricing. What a waste of an opportunity to win the hearts and minds of consumers
  11. So it's a TPM or PTT chip that also communicates with the cloud, no this won't have a million bugs. I see how it's "separate" from the TPM chip and communicates with it. I can tell you this will be a nightmare to support. TPM already is because mom and pop shops use it when they really don't need it.
  12. What good is a product that you can't purchase folks? This was an abysmal failure by AMD. They had the opportunity to earn real marketshare and ruined it.
  13. 6800xt here I come wednesday at 0001 do we know if its pacific time or eastern that they're releasing the cards?
  14. AMD processors were already winning in most workloads except gaming and PS. It looks like that's changed and they're winning in almost every scenario now. I don't think Intel knows what to do at this point. Rocketlake X isn't going to be any drastic game changer.
  15. The Samsung S20 is 1200 ? EDIT--- amazon.com/Samsung-Unlocked-Fingerprint-Recognition-Long-Lasting/dp/B082XYGR2C?th=1
  16. Also Apple is mostly a US phenomenon. In China, India, and the other big markets buy phones like Huawei, Xiamoi, and Samsung. The other issue is, and other phone manufacturers have to be aware of this. 1200 USD for a phone is a little ridiculous. I'm a middle class American and I won't pay more than 600 dollars for a phone brand new. I think this is mostly young adults and teenagers having to have the latest. I could be wrong, but I work for a huge IT company and no one in my department bought the new Iphone and one guy bought the Galaxy 20 plus, but only because he's bought every new Samsung phone since the start of the century.
  17. I'm currently on this forum, talking about how good AMD drivers have been to me, including on a 6850 crossfire setup almost 10 years ago. Is it because my 1080ti is so bad that I'm here and not playing games? Is it because my system isn't "just working?" It's more likely that I play games when I choose to play games and read tech forums when I choose to read tech forums. Your logic is awful. By the way since you probably don't know me 4 years ago I was on record saying AMD was a lost cause and should sell to Samsung NOT because of their drivers, but because the hardware just didn't have the performance to keep up with Intel and Nvidia. That is not the case now and AMD has made a very good competitive case for themselves. I think the only person here espousing brand loyalty is you.
  18. Wish the 6800XT was 599 but I'm a buyer at 649 (700 for AIB) Now we know why Nvidia released 3xxx on Samsung 8nm and in such a rush. They knew what AMD had and needed a stopgap. I still think it's damaging to their brand to have done this. I probably won't buy for them for a decade now.
  19. The game was ready for PC probably 9 months ago. CDPR said it was playable. Then they ported for the new consoles and it was delayed to Sept, then Nov, now Dec. CDPR should become PC exclusive
  20. Anyway, about drivers. I've had plenty of AMD cards (and ATI) most recently a 7950, 6970, and crossfired 6850s. Never had an issue.
  21. I'll be waiting next week to see what AMD announces. If they have availability and the performance I'm sold and I'll sell both my 1080ti and my 1080 and replace them with AMD cards.
  22. It may have cost them more than they made in the long run. I have not seen consumers as bitter about video card releases as they were with this one. If AMD comes anywhere close and has availability it won't matter what Nvidia releases in 2021. They'll lose a chunk of market share.
