They are trying, but it's not working. ACC is missing so much content, on top of that it's currrently broken.

The nice thing is that, as far as I've seen, they are updating the game relatively frequently. Again, I really need to figure out how to set my stuff up again and have another go. Last time I played it was probably a month or six weeks before the game's "release".

Yes, that doesn't include the subscription either. iRacing is by far the most expensive racing sim out there. All prices here are in USD excluding local VAT here, I can't be bothered to convert it and they only show USD on their website. When you do get a subscription ($13/month, $33/3 months, $110/year or $199/2 year, 40% discount for new memberships for all of them) you get 18 cars and 18 tracks included. Those cars and tracks are only really useful if you only want to do the Rookie races which I wouldn't recommend. The people who do Rookie races are generally really, really bad. I've seen people crash the slowest cars in the game on a straight with no one around them.

Once you get your D license, you pretty much have to buy more content and this is where you give them your wallet. Each car is $11.95 and each track is $11.95 or $14.95 each, most of which are $14.95. You don't need to buy all content, you just buy what you want. Of course, the more you buy the bigger of a discount you get as a "bulk buy" bonus. Total price of everything including that discount but excluding local taxes would cost over $1500.

iRacing do have a monopoly on this type of sim racing though. There's only online racing, no AI at all and there's no competition for this type of game, at least on PC. The closest sim to iRacing as far as gameplay goes is Gran Turismo Sport which is only on PS4.

Competition-wise, ACC seemed/seems like they want to compete with iRacing for that online sim market, but last time I checked, they have a ways to go.

Thanks, though I used the same link. For some reason random percentage signs got popped into my link, no idea. As to removing an embedded link, click on edit on your post, and just below the editor you will see the embedded link, you can click on ''Remove Link'' to get rid of it.

That's the issue I was having. Either when I hit that button or manually clear the field for a link, the field is still there, and since it's there and it's empty, I can't save the post.

  4.

Just F1 and the "special" WEC races really. With most WEC/IMSA races, I prefer to take part in them digitally on iRacing. Since April my internet has been terrible, just dropping out at random points during the day with no warning and because of the way the iRacing system works, you get penalized for it when you do lose connection so I haven't really been racing in there since May. I've lost a lot of iRating because of my garbage internet connection. It does seem to be fix now though.

I've been considering iRacing more and more as time goes on, but historically I've just done mostly AC/ACC, though I haven't done much recently. I'll need to gauge how much time I'll have in the near future and more importantly figure out where/how to set up my wheel first.

The iRacing special events are cool though, I know the guy who got second in the top split of the Indy 500 this year. They're great even to just spectate.

  5. What's the rules on spoilers? Put things in spoiler tags until at least 1 week after the race? I almost never watch races live, I always watch them a day or two later.

That's something that somehow never crossed my mind, but I like that idea, spoiler tags for the first week or maybe 10 days if necessary. We can play it by ear at first.

    What have you been watching?

  6. With the overlap between PC and car enthusiasts here, I'm sure there must be some motorsports fans around here too...

So have at it! F1, Indycar, MotoGP, WEC, Formula E, Super GT, anything goes, I'm interested.

For reference, I'm a big fan/follower of F1, WEC, and IMSA. I'm catching up on all of the seasons of Formula E (just watching full race replays), and hopefully I'll be up-to-date on it by the time season 6 kicks off in November. I'm also planning on attending Petit Le Mans again for the second time. I loosely follow Indycar, and very loosely follow MotoGP, but I'd love to get into those more. Just so much racing to watch.

In regards to spoilers, please put any information about race results or anything that happened during a race in a spoiler until a week after the event occurs. I know it's really hard to avoid race spoilers on the internet nowadays, but we may as well do what we can since it doesn't take much effort.

  7. Heyo, Supercrumpet here. Previously known as CptAsian on most platforms.

Semi-relevant question. What's the status on .gif avatars?

Glad to be here, and I'm pleased to see there's already a dark theme.
