Curious what happens at end game now I saw FP2 got delayed until September but a few impression videos were recently released and it looks very good, with a new factions system that requires some form of trust and influence to successfully establish laws. I decided to pre-order, mainly to support 11-bit studios. RE: Hellblade 2, I will pick it up when it goes on sale on PC or alternatively, ill resubscribe to GP on Xbox this winter and play it there. Did you finish it? How would you compare it against the first?

Frostpunk 1440p, Max Always on edge but there is always a way to keep your colony going. It just may require getting the children to shovel coal from the mines into your storehouses. Good news is you can streamline your processes by building the graveyard next to the coal stockpiles. Dark humour aside, im about 5 hours in and nearly lost this colony about an hour ago. Revolts started because I made some poor choices early on the snowballed into even worse results. Had to demolish some homes and let a few people freeze to bolster my coal production whilst setting new laws that enabled a cohort of priests to help the citizens see the way to prosperity during the -50C weather. Once the faith spread, and we caught a few thieves, people began to understand the collective effectiveness to survive the next storm, -70C. Generator almost blew up but we survived. On day 25 on my first run (story mode). Curious how far it goes before it gets completely absurd.

Keeping up the tradition and adding more to the backlog. Some are short games. - Machinarium has been on my wishlist for nearly 10 years. Love the soundtrack. - Dusk is a metal / boomer shooter recommended by a friend. Seems like a fun romp. - Love the Amnesia series and ready for WW1 trench psychological horror - Last but not least, pre-ordered Frostpunk 2. Started playing Frostpunk a few nights ago and loving it. If you’re into strategy games, it’s definitely worth a try and only about $3 USD right now.

2024-06-26 - Summer Update Hello! The list in the OP (also linked on the post above) has been updated with approx. 40 entries for games to be released between now and end of September. This new titles as well as new updates (release dates) for titles already included in the sheet. I used the following video as a source to update the list. It includes a brief discussion on each game to be released during the summer of 2024. Extract of the games below: -
digital foundry Gaming on ARM Windows PCs is Lackluster so far

Really tired of Microsoft's half-baked hardware. Sometimes, very rarely, they sell bangers. My partner bought a used Surface Book years ago and it works very well. Interesting gimmick with the detachable screen, book spine hinge but ultimately, its quiet, good thermals, performance, build quality. Their consoles are well built too (besides RRoD) but yeesh, buying a Microsoft product is almost as bad as a Google product. Xbox dashboard feels terrible, corporate. Just to see my achievements, what's still to be unlocked, and what is unlocked is so cumbersome.... Takes about 5 inputs. Xbox Home button, next page, next page, next page, adjust filter to see what's been unlocked (can't see both unlocked and locked at the same time for some stupid reason). Accessing the storefront? No problem, super quick, 2 inputs. Xbox Home Button, Store Page. PC Gaming... Much better than Games for Windows Live days but yikes... who buys games on the Windows Store Front? I wasn't aware of how many games get the shaft until I watched this video. I tried PC Game Pass and it's really not all that good. The fact my Starfield saves from Steam don't work with the PC Storefront, and consequently, the Xbox Series consoles feels like a huge miss. Speaks volumes about their priorities. No incentive to buy games on Windows when they have less features, less sales than Steam. Yup... always feels like their chasing trends when they should be setting them. There is no reason why Xbox and PC gaming shouldn't be first with MS. At least more titles are hitting Steam but there is no reason why Windows PC store front should be second to Steam. -

2024-06-21 - Update Hey! This summer game fest (essentially new E3) was full of announcements. Some being updates to existing games, new games, expansions, DLC etc. etc. I've created a separate page / tab in the same Google Sheet to isolate these announcements. Linked and embedded below. I've logged over 300 announcements for context... XD Some may be duplicate, like a trailer shown in one event and then a deep dive in a subsequent event. I wont plug everything from this tab into the data tab. As that data focuses on the all the noteworthy titles for 2024. That said, this should help for next year's 2025 list Data may be missing at the time of entry (hyperlinks, system info, release dates etc.) but I'll continue to update it! -
Impartial observations - too many cooks in the kitchen. Define a RACI. E.g., Enterprise Accountable, Neurotix Responsible, other designers and/or key stakeholders consulted, and the general forum (public) informed. If you're iterating on an idea, there is no issue with quality of the product if it's just a mock-up to discuss design intent. If that's the final product, yea it will definitely need some work before it's ready to print. Other notes: I think it's cool to have the design iterate in a forum but sometimes it can be overwhelming because everyone has an opinion. I'd recommend managing expectations by stating the status of the iteration. In other words, I think Snakecharmed's comments are valid if that were the final product. If the design shared above is for iteration and expressing intent, that level of detail / comments really aren't needed. Just distracts from the objective. You all are putting in your own free time and effort so best to encourage and support each other. If you're all unsure of what's needed, define a brief with the client / owner.

Quick little update: The sheet with all games previously logged before May have been updated with the relevant dates and/or Metacritic Score. I need to go through all the announcements over the past few months and add those games to the list. Quick extract of the PC Game list for 2024, ordered by Release Date. -
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice 4K, "Enriched" Mode (Series X) Played the remaining 50% of Hellblade last night. I came out of this experience enjoying it much more than I thought I would. The gameplay criticisms are valid for this series, however it does a lot of things well and the overall impact and feel after finishing it is different than most games. I’d recommend it if you’re feeling a short narrative horror/adventure.

Can't speak about the leak or AM5. So not really sure how I can help All I can say is that you'll be better off with an X3D part either way, as the extra cache really helps absorb what all the RAM tweaking was compensating for (reducing system latency). CPU cache is the higher priority in other words. In order of L1, L2, L3. L3 to my understanding is the cache dump. Its slower than L1, L2, but holds the most info and is way faster than the fastest system memory out there. It's the last line of defense before your system goes to system memory (RAM) in my simpleton brain. I personally see it at as a moot point to spend more on higher quality RAM (speed / timings) when the yield is similar to that $ spent on the extra cache 3D parts which require little to no effort. To summarize my thoughts for you OP, I see 3 options today: Best value approach today: Sell 5600X, plug in 5700X3D. It's a single gen jump without platform upgrades. Best performance approach today: Sell AM4 system, upgrade to AM5, buy sweet spot memory, buy 7800X3D Best long term strategy: Wait for 9000X3D. Decide on 7800X3D (hopefully on sale) or go all in on 9800X3D (probably the better choice).

The Extreme HW Game List - 2024 Edition
Slaughtahouse replied to Slaughtahouse's topic in Gaming General
Hi all, a quick check-in. I should have a bit more time to come back and revive this thread. I was hoping to be clear ahead of the Summer Games Fest but it was a bit too hectic the past couple months. I'll try to update the sheet within the week and follow up with a larger post with key announcements by next week. Stay tuned -
Im not a fan of jumping in early gen / beta tester. I know I lose the benefits of CPU upgrades jumping in late but usually the gen has matured and prices are settled. Im still super impressed by my 5800X3D anyway and will only jump when my go-to games are suffering.

More fuel to the fire: https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-confirms-ryzen-7000x3d-will-remain-top-gaming-performer-ahead-of-9000-series-launch As we suspected, 9000 series will be a skip if you’re a gamer. OP, you’re better off waiting for 9000 X3D or a later gen if you want to feel the upgrade. Still, knowing Canadian prices, 390$ CAD ($280 USD) isn’t terrible for the wonky 7900X3D but in my heart of hearts, I can’t recommend a component that has too many caveats. Even if they are minimal impacts to your gameplay, it’s the principle of the matter. For context, I may jump into AM5 towards the tail end. Has to be at least two gens for me to consider an upgrade and Id recommend the same. Wait for 9000 X3D. Even if you don’t end up getting it due to pricing, it will put pressure sure on 7800X3D prices. 5000 series to 7000X3D is at least the bare min. in terms of noticeable improvements. Especially noticeable if you play at 1080p and competitive, low render cost games.
-
Sorry, I meant in the context of how the CPU operates. E.g., Does the 7900X3D need any software or tweaking in the UEFI to get to operate correctly in games? I honestly don’t know. Also, the X3D CPU, at least on AM4 help absorb a lot of the latency impact from slow RAM. Im not sure if it works the same on AM5 but if 9000 series and 7000 non 3D require a lot of RAM tweaking to get the most out of it, its something to note. I hate RAM overclocking and I really liked when I got my 5800X3D, my effort to maximize my system went down dramatically.
-
Prices are usually comparable and the ones mentioned in the OP are in CAD. Sales are less frequent and we dont have Microcentres. Conversion has been floating around 1.3 CAD to 1 USD for context. It’s almost 1.4 today. So 389 CAD + tax = 280 USD + tax Beyond that note, I do agree with your general sentiment. It’s possible a 9600X will be on par or slightly faster (in games) than a 7900X3D for similar price, or less. But it’s splitting hairs. The only reason Id return the 7900X3D is I heard it’s a bit finicky in how it operates. But that’s just on what I recall from launch reviews and I believe the issue was really only highlighted because it retailed at a higher price than the 7800X3D but performed worse. If it’s plug n play, it’s actually a really good deal.

My first cymbals were the B8’s I still have most of them stored off to the side. Forgot that they’re heavy AF. They can really take a beating I used to have a Zildjian oriental china in this setup but it completely cracked in half. Would get into a double bass groove and hammer at it a bit too relentlessly. I’d love to have budget to pick each and every cymbal individually but both the B8’s and A Customs came in pretty affordable kits. I googled your Avedis hi hats and they look super swanky! Im sure they sound great
