  1. I checked a review on the Seasonic and it comes with 3 PCIe cables. Each has two connectors for a total of 6 PCIe connectors. Is there any issue using 2 connectors from the same cable to power the GPU?
  2. The card is an Asus Tuf 3070. It won't be available for pick up until next week. However, it looks like it has 2x8pin connectors on it. Where did you find the connector info on those PSUs? The info on Microcenter's website lists both as having 6x6+2pin. I just looked at a review of the Seasonic and it also lists it as having 6 PCIe connectors. I plan to pick up a Gigabyte x570 Aurus Pro WiFi with a ryzen 3600 and a cheap 1x8gb stick of ddr4. Thanks for the input on the size of the PSU. I'll consider bumping up to a 1000w.
  3. I just scored an rtx3070 from the Best Buy drop today. I plan to build a dedicated folding rig with it. I think I've figured out most parts I need to acquire. However, I wasn't sure if there were any recommendations for a power supply. It's been about a decade since I've purchased a PSU. Back then, I was picking up Corsair's AX series or SeaSonic power supplies. I'll be running this 3070 now and plan to pick up another 3070 or 3080 in the future. Does 850w sound reasonable? The two below are in stock at the local Microcenter: EVGA SuperNOVA 850 GA 850 Watt 80 Plus Gold ATX Fully Modular Power Supply Seasonic USA FOCUS GX-850, 850W 80+ Gold Any thoughts on if either of this will work well? Any alternate suggestions?
  4. Linux stats have been reported for both cards. The Linux stats only show on the overview page (https://folding.lar.systems/gpu_ppd/brands/nvidia/) and not on the card detail pages. I assume that will change sometime in the next day.
  5. I realize that I was only setting the remote options in the FAHControl UI and that differs from the option you recommended. Unfortunately, manually setting that option (either with an IP range or specific address) results in a 403 error. I might be able to get this option working with more trial and error. However, the ssh port forwarding just works Thanks for the suggestion, though.
  6. Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, that doesn't appear to work for the web client (or the folding in the dark extension). I had tried that earlier and was receiving a 401 error trying to access the web client remotely (http://ip:7396). Before modifying the web-allow setting I was receiving a different error (403, I believe). Your suggestion works great for access remotely via FAHControl or HFM. I've been doing that for a while.
  7. In preparation for reporting to lars, I reset my folding settings to the default (any cause, removed the advanced flag). That is a HUGE ppd difference. I'm now getting less than half the ppd I was with customized settings. That is largely due to the fact that on these WUs, it takes too long to complete, so I don't get a QRB on the work. I expect later today we'll see some Linux stats appear for these cards. It doesn't appear that extension reports final wu stats. It reports current ppd stats every 30 minutes--which is good since these WUs will take another 1-2 days to complete.
  8. I ended up installing Ubuntu in a VM that can do the port forwarding to the linux box with the quadro cards. Folding in the Dark was reporting the quadros as running in Windows when I was connecting from a windows computer. Now that I have the Ubuntu VM running the Folding in the Dark extension, it sends back properly as being run under Linux. I haven't seen the public site update yet, but every 30 minutes, folding stats are uploaded to lars by the extension.
  9. The only downside I can see right now is that the CPU that is folding in the Linux box is identified as the CPU in the Windows computer. I guess the web client is somehow determining the CPU instead of querying FAHClient for that info. So, I expect lars to get results for a i7-4770 recorded for an i7-7700k. I guess I'll need to pause that CPU so it doesn't continue reporting the wrong stats. Going to lose ~40k ppd by not folding on that CPU! ? Actually, the fact that the CPU is being identified wrong makes me question if the stats for the quadro cards will even be recorded under Linux. If the web client determines the OS, then it will think it is running on Windows. I guess I'll find out when these units finish.
  10. I now have the Folding in the Dark Chrome extension running against that Linux box with the Quadros. I stopped folding on a Windows computer, then from the Windows computer, I ssh into the Linux box with some port forwarding configured. When the Windows computer tries to access the local folding web client, it is really connecting to the Linux box via ssh. It looks like this will work, so I'll see if it gets the lars database reporting some Linux work for these cards.
  11. From my understanding, you have to run the Folding in the Dark Chrome extension to upload stats to lars. As far as I can tell, this will only work on the local computer--not remote computers. The linux system with the quadro cards is headless with command line only, so I wouldn't be able to run the Chrome extension. I guess, if I need to force some stats for Linux into lars so I can use one of these cards, I might be able to do some dns shenanigans to map https://client.foldingathome.org/ to the linux box. Though, that sounds like too much effort If you know any different, let me know.
  12. I didn't have any hardware I could commit to being up for a full month. I have some quadro cards available now. As long as they qualify... They are running in Linux, but the Lars database only has stats for Windows. @BWG would these cards qualify? p620 and p400 in Linux
  13. What's the status of the ETF teams? Anyone needing a new team member? Any new teams in the works?
  14. I ended up adding a few more cloud GPUs as I found some with better price/ppd ratio. Peaked at 87 million ppd for a few hours! I'm sure you'll reclaim the crown next month, though. This was fun. The team got a lot of work done over those 2 days!! Good job everyone!
  15. I think 1.000 watts is a crazy European way of saying 1,000 watts (1kw).
  16. Attached are details from the cloud gpu systems I'm using right now (I stopped one from the earlier screenshot as the ppd dropped quite a bit for some reason). The results are of running `nvidia-smi -q`. I added some rough specs on the system and the ppd I'm seeing to the top of the file. Some of the systems I only get access to some of the cores and ram, not the full capability. gpu-rtx2080TI-1.stats.txt gpu-rtx2080TI-2.stats.txt gpu-rtx3080.stats.txt gpu-rtx3090.stats.txt
  17. Sorry, it's been a busy day. I was going to post a follow-up to that image with more details. All of the 2080TI and higher cards are actually cloud GPUs that I'm renting...some with free credit...some I'm paying for. All are running in Linux and most are running in a docker container. If you are curious about clock speeds vs ppd on the cards or anything, I can try to look up the specs (nvidia-smi) while I'm still renting the systems. I do hope to get a 3080 for myself to fold on if I can ever find one for non-scalper prices
  18. They had server outages recently with servers that assign the CPU work units. Any lack of work or slow downloads may be related to the server issues.
  19. @axipher I wanted to verify what time the competition starts. The countdown links are for a day later than you indicated. (Wed. May 26 9PM EDT vs Thurs May 27 9pm EDT). Is the competition starting in ~13 hours or ~37 hours?
  20. Thanks! I used to fold for [H] back in the day and recently started folding again. The folding forum at [H] is rather dead these days. So, here I am!
