I already have 4 Optane drives sitting on the shelf waiting for me to get caught up on projects, but I still feel the desire to buy more. It's good the 118GB is sold out

I do listen to mostly older music as well lol
For some reason I've been on a crap (country rap) kick lately

Yeah I saw that but that's weight, that does not indicate a material change if these are like dri-fit shirts as earlier indicated.
I bought one back before there was an option to change the weight and mine is 100% Cotton. It is a thin shirt and I'd prefer a heavier weight full Cotton shirt but I'm still out here reppin it either way.

Not sure if anyone here would be interested, but about half of the the new Model F boards from Model F Labs are on sale. I snagged an F77, and I'll post up pics when it arrives. Shipping time also seems to be way down from what it was before. Some recent orders I know of have gotten their boards in a few weeks. https://www.modelfkeyboards.com/store/
Did you get the Solenoid with it? I remember when this project first came around. I wouldn't mind having one but I really don't need another keyboard lol

It's an enthusiast forum so I don't think it's too weird to see people with a lot of hardware they can spin up for a few days.
I have several PCs for different purposes and I just fire them all up for the foldathons.

Yea we appreciate everyone stopping by to participate regardless of how many or few cards people choose to run.
Recently I've been open to branching out. I participated in the LTT month of folding and the Hardforum BigAdv EOL challenge. I admittedly had a more enjoyable experience at [H] than LTT.
I love to see people from other forums stop by to fold with us. Many of us would be happy to join others events as well.

I just never stop folding
I wish I could fold nonstop. I'd need to get another circuit added so I could install a mini split to keep the office at a bearable temperature. I'm willing to suffer once a month for the foldathons, but I'm also not the only one that lives here. I can't expect everyone to share in my suffering

$700 sounds pretty decent. I finally got around to redoing my bedroom gaming rig this weekend and I tossed in the 6950XT. I picked it up for $600 and thought I got a good deal. Which it was at the time. However, outside of using it in one of my product reviews, it's just sat on a shelf the past year. If I knew I'd put it off this long I could have just got the 7900XT
That said, I love the build. First all AMD system in probably a decade or more. I have it paired with a 7800X3D and it's a beast 1440p machine. I set a mild undervolt and an FPS cap to just under monitor refresh rate. With those changes it is a pretty power efficient system.
If AMD GPUs were even remotely comparable to Nvidia for Folding@Home, I'd buy a bunch of their cards.

I have no experience with Pro Light Green so no help there. They appear to be fairly different aside from both being clicky green switches though. Also funny enough the Jades are rated for more clicks.
Box Jade
Pro Light Green
Box Royals are really nice, but they are not clicky. Just very tactile. They do produce a nice thock sound which is maybe why people compare them to clickies since they are loud for tactiles. As far as I know they are the only purple stem Box switch and are just called Box Royal. There is a Pro Purple which is also a tactile but it's a standard stem.
I haven't been keeping up on all the new switches that are out there but I'm sure there are other brands making clicky switches even though they are the least popular. I'm always surprised how popular linears are but most boutique switches are linear or tactile.

No experience with Kailh Pro or recommendations for any other clicky switches though, Flux?
Like I said, I've mostly moved away from clicky switches. I've owned several clicky boards over the years and used to make my own combos by piecing together various housings and stems with custom weight springs. That was all back before the clone wars after the Cherry patents expired and the market was flooded with tons of switch options.
The only clicky switches I currently have installed in boards are BOX Navy and modded Gateron Green.
I was glancing over at the spare switches and I have Box pink, jade, and navy. I also have another heavy clicky Kailh switch that I forgot I had... I think they are Pro Heavy Navy which are a bit heavier than Box Navy.
Box Navy
Pro Heavy Navy
I started looking through my emails and it looks like I also ordered the Pro Heavy Plum switches which are tactile and have no idea where those are

I heard something about Glorious Panda switches and also Halos?
Neither of those are clicky switches, just tactile.
I have the Glorious Pandas in one of the boards I frequently use at home and really like them. I think I have some Halo true and clear, but never really used them.
I've mostly moved away from clicky switches just because I'm constantly talking to people so tactile switches make more sense. Still love Box Navies though
Haven't been doing much keyboard stuff lately, but I did just pick up a bunch of Cherry Ergo Clears that were on sale at Microcenter. I have some normal Cherry Clears and like them so I figured I'd grab some to compare.

So I was in the market for a smaller set of studio monitors for my bedroom. Currently using an old tired set of Behringer Truth B2031A just because we had them laying around. They are a little too big for the space and having unshielded internals, they occasionally pick up AM radio lol. So I was thinking about getting a set of Yamaha HS5's...
And yet I ended up buying a pair of Adam Audio T7V's
I might run these in the office and move my JBL 306P MkII upstairs

I'll be out of town pretty much the entire competition so I won't be around to babysit the usual every card in the house strategy. I'll still leave a few cards folding and possibly get setup on vast.ai to rent a few if we get some good competition going.

Alright people, less power limiting to save a buck next time, this was too close;
That huge PPD decline had almost nothing to do with power limiting and everything to do with decisions to not continue renting farms of GPUs.

Yea I typically use Afterburner as well but I have Precision for adjusting things on EVGA cards.
I've never used a 4090 so IDK what wattages they tend to prefer. I would just play around with it to see what your card likes best. Some are more efficient at different power levels.

Avacado posted a screenshot of his power limit being 77%
I can see where at a quick glance that screenshot could be misleading, but his power limit is maxed out at 133. It just happened to be sitting at 77% when he took the screenshot. In EVGA Precision X1 that % number is sort of a real time usage number and the number in the box is the set limit.
He even said he was "running full bore".
With all that said, you should still see a pretty good PPD number running the card at 346w

There really is no finding out the hard way, given you've been beating me since at least April last year. I expect it.
Also it's not a single new card- I run a 3060 as well.
Also it's great and such a fun thing to single out the guy whose lower back has been medically evaluated as crippled, who can't even work on rigs anymore because of it, who has had two invasive surgeries in the last year and a half on the back and the hip, and who has fibromyalgia and chronic pain syndrome. Such a nice thing to do. What a great forum. (I.e. stop it it's gotten old)
Well I was beating you before you added the 3060 to the mix so the point still stands.
Not sure what your health issues have to do with us bantering during foldathons. I've never made fun of your for your health or ability to work on rigs. If you don't want me to single you out anymore, that's fine I won't. YOU have encouraged this by by tagging me and saying things like "I hope you die under a bridge hehe".
I'll never mention you again. However, if you want to speak my name don't cry when I reply.

Do you power limit them and run them at factory boost, or do you power limit them and also run an OC on them?
Most of the cards have waterblocks and thus run very cool so they stay boosted fairly high. Sometimes I'll sprinkle on +20 or so core just to bump it up to a number I like, but I want it to be stable so I don't go crazy on OC for folding.
As you have found out the hard way, a handful of power limited older gen cards will still beat a single top dawg card OC or not.

I wonder how my 4090 would do if I lowered the power limit to 80% and disabled my overclock. Or should I lower the power limit and keep the OC?
Definitely worth playing around with. You can shave a decent amount of power off without killing PPD too much. I power limit most of my cards because it gets unbearably hot in the office otherwise.

Somehow, I don't know how, I'm in 4th place overall and had a 10mil point lead on Avacado and PaperClip.
Now the gap has shrunk and both Avacado and Flux are coming for my ass by the end of the competition. I fully expect to be knocked down to 6th place by the end.
I wanted you to think you had a chance...
It's more fun when I give you a big lead then reel you in
