Yeah after seeing a 20c drop for der8auer and then seeing them all in stock I couldn't click buy fast enough. The supercool direct die I did on intel was incredible. Any chance I can do that over using the IHS I will. A lot summize the IHS on ryzen is way too thick and thats what he got such a big temp drop. Also why I put the computer in the garage lol.

I am all for the best of both worlds mentality AMD is going for and obviously gaming benchmarks prove it is technically working. Being the first of it's kind there will be growing pains and the software crap xbox bar crap to make it work. It's all understood they have to do it that way when nothing is set up for it. Just like windows doesn't understand RGB (yet) so you have to install a million programs to get the lights on the ram, board, case, etc to all sync up. If cost is no object then its a clear winner. No doubt about that. Otherwise, quite a lot to be desired. Of course the games do dictate that, I can't believe the ability even the 5800X3d has with FS. The 7800X3D will sell out like hot cakes for months. The 13900K heat output is definitely an issue for people who don't have the cooling to deal with that. I guess the main issue with all of this is they promised big and undelivered. Sure they all promise big and undeliver, nothing new, but after the 5800x3d I think we all just expected an x3d with so much power to really knock the socks off intel. Course it does in power efficiency. All just a mixture of pros and cons.

I actually was comparing COD MW2 scores with gamersnexus scores (maybe HWUB idk) and I was seeing 20fps less than them on ultra, but the same as them on basic. 1440p.. Everything was the same cept they had 13900k. So to me there would be a gain going to 7000/13th gen as they have a little more clock speed which is what I'm guessing is the difference, possibly DDR5 as well. Either way I do think think you'd see an improvement if you run higher quality settings.

Found a bnib 7950x for $400. Sent mine back for refund. Got a direct die mount and delidder coming.
  6. This is my concern. What I love about my 5800X3D that I noticed compared to my 12700k was it was so consistent. I was always looking at the fps overlay on intel cause it was slowing down, but with the amd I never was, it was so consistent. Looking at this chart though.........yeah I really don't wanna go back to that life. Even if its just one game, its not what I wanna see for $700.

    X3D Revision 2

Microcenter has 13900K for $530. Minus $20 if you also buy a board from them. Well I bought (received today) a 7950X in case the X3D was crap and low and behold....so I will go ahead with it. I really don't like the E/P core approach nor do I like this X3D arrangement of 2 sides to the cpu which seems to be quite complex to make sure it works right in comparison to just dropping a cpu in the socket. So 7950x has the normal style and I'll roll with it. They will update AM5 a few times so nothing says round 2 won't be better. I love my 5800X3D to the point I'm basically leaving that computer alone. I should just sell it but damn that thing runs smooth. If 7800X3D is anything like it, they'll have a clear winner. Definintely some shady stuff going on though. I'll be doing some tests of my own on my 5800 before swapping my 3080ti over and running the same tests. I just started playing COD MW2 and it seems to love x3d so hopefully it at least maintains the same FPS. I noticed they all benched the same games too... kinda.... strange...... In the end the decision will always lie with the games YOU actually play. Course they didn't do any kind of COD benchmarks.

Did you notice no 7900x3d reviews either... I love that AMD is trying to be different and give us the best of both worlds but they've been able to use 13900k's themselves for months, they know we were gonna figure it out an hour after launch. Just don't understand their mindset. It would be the CPU to have if it was $500. They know 13900k current prices I mean come on.

Looking that way. So Intel prolly matches it if anything. Such a letdown.

    X3D Revision 2

Think I'll just keep the 7950x. Seems like a lot of money to match a 13900k which only costs $580.
  11. TL:didn't care to go back, I got mx6 too and put it on my 3080ti when I did the waterblock. Thick enough that it kinda starts clumping when smoothing out but seems to work good. Course GPU waterblocks work so good anyways it's probably not a fair test.

I believe you can get those free at microcenter if you buy a cpu? You might check into that maybe someone or even me could help you out. I didn't do it cause I know it would just be a kit sitting in my mountain of other computer parts. Yeah same ones. https://www.microcenter.com/product/653727/gskill-flare-x5-series-32gb-(2-x-16gb)-ddr5-6000-pc5-48000-cl36-dual-channel-desktop-memory-kit-f5-6000j3636f16gx2-fx5-black

Thats what I was thinking. Have a plan B so I don't end up screwed like the gpu fiasco all over again. Yeah I saw. Just saying how terrible amd is with ram lol. I mean I got 6400 and prolly won't even be able to use that speed either. Buildzoid's ddr5 am5 guide has been shown to be pretty promising and being I am not a ram wizard I'll prolly just do that. But being rated higher than the 6000 I'll prolly be forced to run, maybe I can run tighter primary timings. I'm not about to pretend I know how to overclock ram but I can do enough to get myself in trouble. Tighter timings supposed to really help ryzen so guess I'll learn. BTW.......if I'm reading correctly......7950x has 80MB L3, and X3D CCD will have 96. Maybe I can't count but to me that doesn't make it sound like it will be that big of boost over the x. God they need to get these reviews out.

I think there will always be a tradeoff between flow and performance. You could have no fins at all and all the flow in the world and it would suck. Im gonna use 2 d5's though so shouldn't be a problem either way. I did cheat and just bought a 7950x. Idk if everyone will flock to it after x3d is shown to be all smoke and mirrors and send the price up, otherwise I'll return it. BHPhoto had it for $550.
  16. I was just telling a guy how it will be so interesting seeing 7950x vs 7950x3d. Pure clock speed vs pure cache apples to apples. 5800x was barely higher clocked than 5800x3d so meh. But I'll run the test on it all when I get it with the same card. I'm not upgrading the GPU for a while, works great as is.

Wanted to steal parts off my current build but when all I really need is a waterblock I went ahead and bought this. And this is the psu I got for it. Was on sale for $299, guess the sale is over.

Is there an actual problem? I know its touching but is it actually affecting the fan or anything? Looks like it works fine to me lol The more I see the more they say 7000 series can't ever break 6400 on ram, and usually 6000-6200 is the limit. This is religiously repeated by every reviewer and linus and buildzoid. Not exactly motivating but they say CL is more important on ryzen anyway. I had to google QD4 and yeah I have tons of those, you can see one on the front of my res in my current setup pic. They are flat out amazing. I have them on my 011 so and mora rad so I can quickly hook up to it. Definitely one of those products that blows you away on how perfect it is.

    X3D Revision 2

That is a huge benefit. I might have to look into it when these 7950 reviews start rolling in. I've almost decided to just get the normal 7950 if the x3d doesn't prove its worth on reviews. This waiting game is hell lol.
  20. I've never understood this. Everyone in the northern half of USA runs their heat all winter. Middle northern states are always well below freezing. They make all this heat either burning wood or propane or electric................for no reason other than to make heat. Then we have all these servers making hoards of heat just blowing it into the atmosphere. I realize theres a security issue of google putting one of their servers in your house but still, they could halve the usa energy footprint doing it that way. In michigan I think Holland, the power plant actually does use city water to cool the plant, which in turn melts all the snow on sidewalks and such. Just seems like we could really go a longggg ways of making things more efficient.

    X3D Revision 2

Its interesting what problems you run into that you'd never think about. I have to say the inwin 315 I have is the best looked case I've ever owned. And........the biggest PITA to work in. Absolute nightmare. I'll be using the 011 XL I have for this new build. Actually can you just take the vrm heatsinks off? Buildzoid keeps mentioning a lot of these new boards have such overkill vrm's they don't even need the heatsinks.

It programs it into the controller itself? That seems quite fancy.
  24. Yeah Beregond's says the same thing and he has the same FE so idk what's up with them.

    X3D Revision 2

It does look a little complicated lol. I never bought the next flow thing. Seemed pretty expensive and nobody had one. I have a cheap byski and it works fine. I graphed the flow to % and meh, think thats all I needed to know.
