  2. I think youtube won't show you higher resolution options if it thinks you don't have the bandwidth for it actually.
  3. When I hosted the OCN MC server I found that IPC was all that really mattered. Running it on an overclocked windows computer was vastly better than a dedicated linux server with more threads and a lower clock speed. Probably doesn't really matter much though unless your going to use some world editing mods. Noting about vanilla minecraft should be taxing to host.
  4. At least they're reaching out to a business that can manage it instead of continuing down the same path.
  5. After seeing the digital foundry video on the performance of the game, I'm pretty disappointed. It looks like all they did was move the AI to it's own cpu thread and almost nothing else as far as optimization and the results leave it still being a poorly threaded game. Increasing the LOD values really hammers single threaded performance when that should have been multi-threaded. There are also a few visual "upgrades" that look worse than before like certain texture changes that are higher res yet look worse. There is also no mod/SDK support which is a real bummer for me because I was planning to try making a newer version of my Crysis mod "Crysis super powers mod 2".
  6. If you really wanna avoid MSI, gonna have to do some research on exactly what you're getting, or get a dell.
  7. MSI makes A LOT of barebones laptops that get rebranded by other manufacturers/resellers. I'm not sure if razer is one of them but it's definitely possible.
  8. Source: https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/gamestop-gets-boost-from-microsoft-partnership/ar-BB19S0bN?ocid=mmx&PC=EMMX20 Looks like Microsoft is throwing GameStop a serious bone here, and also using their stores as a sort of showcase area for Surface products. Not a bad move considering they closed down the physical Microsoft stores.
  9. IMO there's no real need to look up anything. Just check your temps and go from there. Try setting the multiplier to 50 and vcore to 1.4 and then just lower the voltage until it's no longer stable.
  10. Source: https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/amd-is-said-to-take-over-fpga-manufacturer-xilinx.html I can't remember hearing about AMD aquiring any other companies since ATi.
  11. I had several windows phones and they definitely had an app store. By the end of windows phone, it had all the apps anyone would need, just without the droves of other random apps. It was certainly much smaller than the competition, but it existed and worked well. Also, technically I think Microsoft does have a mobile OS today on the sense that windows 10 runs on arm now. The new Surface pro x is an arm device IIRC. I'm sure Microsoft will put a sim card reader and a phone app on a device that runs full windows on arm sometime in the next few years. They are already right on the edge of doing that IMO.
  12. Source: https://www.techspot.com/news/87036-microsoft-takes-not-subtle-dig-apple-google-lays.html Shots fired. On a real note, even though Microsoft has a much smaller app store, I think they're seen today as a much more mature company than apple or Google and they still enjoy the luxury of being able to set the example and define the rules for certain market practices. Hoping this turns into one of those situations.
  13. What kind of heatsink do you have? Start by running a stability test like prime95 and checking your temps to see what kind of headroom you have. If you have headroom, it should be pretty easy to get to 5ghz or close on your CPU. Looks like your ram is at 2933mhz instead of 3000mhz.
  14. Sure was. Lots of lessons learned about group dynamics too, like things to avoid. Def got too lax with the control of the server, allowing too many people to make uncoordinated changes and thus breaking plugins. It would be interesting to have an MC server that was just paid hosting with a dedicated site to eliminate the complexity of hosting for all the types of people who used to play again. The things they did with redstone were really impressive. Not that I'd ever want to deal with all that drama again. If I were to do it over, so many more ppl would have just been perma banned. We were way to forgiving in some cases where people were obviously trying to get away with doing as much damage as they could, or hijacking control for themselves.
  15. Source: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/uk-report-accuses-huawei-of-collusion-with-china/ar-BB19OTqr Looks like things are getting worse for Huawei. Seems like this will be a growing trend for Chinese tech companies given the rules they are forced to abide by.
  16. Source: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/ibm-spins-off-a-quarter-of-the-company-to-focus-on-the-cloud/ar-BB19PLzc?ocid=msedgntp This is a pretty big business move for a company like IBM. I'd imagine people will be lining up to buy stock in the new company when it launches.
  17. You still doing MC server stuff? Weren't you one of the mods on the OCN-MC server? I still have the map files for that somewhere..
  18. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/dark-theme-for-chrome/boickdfaikbcijelmcjhlonpchfnabmb/related?hl=en-US works on edge too.
  19. When I worked at Digital Storm, they had a guy who managed the ebay account and sold excess parts or used parts there, or whatever else and they also used a totally different name for that and didn't connect their ebay account to Digital Storm in any obvious way, though the difference there was that Digital Storm is basically just a reseller anyway. That place was always kinda shady on the internal side on things with pretty terrible management caused by an over intrusive father to the main owner... family run business. I could easily see MSI doing the exact same type of thing, but since they actually make the product it's clearly much worse, though I can't think of any legal issue with it.
  20. Source: https://hexus.net/tech/news/graphics/145294-nvidia-dlss-21-delivers-vr-8k-dynamic-resolution-support/ Digital Foundry video on DLSS 2.1:
  21. Yea I hope they release a lower clocked version more in line with the 3700x. That cpu was really at the sweet spot in terms of price and performance.
  22. https://m.imdb.com/title/tt6071534/ I think it's on hulu actually, not netflix. Definitely worth a watch.
