  1. This time around I had actually lined up a local buyer thinking it would be a while before the one on Etsy sold, so I have already reordered parts for that sale. In a sense I am now behind by two PCs, because the local buyer has to wait for me to get parts and build that PC, and I don't have anything up on Etsy right now.
  2. I don't see anyone explaining how this will make AMD stronger. IMO anyone looking for the ultra high end right now would go with Nvidia, because anyone looking to spend more than a grand on a GPU is going to want the better RT and DLSS that Nvidia has to offer. Since AMD can't really compete in that area right now, they might as well not try. You are right, Nvidia did win in the ultra high end market for sure. AMD offers good value at certain price points, but when value isn't the main objective Nvidia is the clear winner.
  3. Something to consider down the road. For now I'm just letting the specs and built quality be the main selling points, but Etsy would be the kind of place where extra RGB could make a difference.
  4. I am familiar with RGB software, but I intentionally don't install it on pre-builds. If the user wants to use it, they can install it themselves. I consider that kind of thing to be bloatware and IMO one of the big reasons people buy PCs like this is because they don't come with any extra bloat pre-installed. We could debate whether or not RGB software would be considered bloat to most users or not, but I consider it bloat when the case already has a button to control most of the RGB in the PC, and software control for ram RBG is unreliable.
  5. These motherboards do have RGB headers, that's a very common feature now. The fan controller that comes with the case does have an RGB header that plugs into the motherboard. I simply don't install any extra software nor do I attempt to ensure the RGB can be controlled via software, but likely it can be. I don't think I'd call these motherboards low end either. Low end for AM4 would be something like an A320 board, and you can be sure a lot of prebuild sites are selling AM4 boards right now with A320 boards. I never use the low quality brands like ASrock and the lowest tier board I have used on anything in the last several months is an A520, but it's been a mix of A520 and B550 boards, usually asus or gigabyte. I simply don't see any logic in buying a high-end board for AM4 CPUs in general because there is so little room for overclocking, and because I don't expect people who would buy these to be into overclocking anyway.
  6. Nah they have all had RGB. I've used the same RGB ram kit in the last 6+ builds I've done. All the builds I've done lately have RGB case fans, ram, and CPU fan. Not all of these builds necessarily have RGB control from the OS though. The CPU fan has no RGB control at all in this last build. The case fans are controlled by a physical button on the case, and the ram should be controllable via OS but that depends on the motherboards RGB software, which I do not install. The only things I install before shipping are drivers/windows updates and Steam. What you see in the pics is just the default RGB settings which just cycle through colors.
  7. Yes maybe. I didn't include a pic of the cable management in the first listing but someone pointed out to me that the cable management quality of my builds is actually a good selling point, so I included it in this one. RGB is pretty standard now days tho.
  8. AMD has already left the enthusiast market in a sense because they have nothing to compete with the 4090, and they don't seem to have much interest in making ultra expensive GPUs in general, but they also have power draw issues with their current line up in the sense that they could have made a card to compete with the 4090 on performance but it would have been ~600 watts. Perhaps the investment needed to bring the ultra high end to a good place on power efficiency for AMD just isn't worth it right now.
  9. Sold already. That went a lot quicker than the first one.
  10. I definitely agree that original member videos should be first ones to show up. It's weird that for you that early CGI video is the first one to show up. I posted that a long time ago now.
  11. I think as it is now there are just not a lot of categories for videos, so if someone wants to post a video of something like a game trailer or LTT video, they would either have to categorize it at member submission or industry news.
  12. Another PC ready. Up on Etsy, Facebook, Craigslist now. Specs: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X 8 core/16 thread CPU Ram: Mushkin Redline Lumina RGB 32GB DDR4 3600mhz Storage: Silicon Power 2TB UD90 NVMe PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSD up to 5,000MB/s GPU: (Used) HP GeForce RTX 3070 Other: Motherboard: GIGABYTE B550M DS3H AC Power Supply: 750-Watt Thermaltake Listed this one for $1100. On Etsy, the shipping fee is $100 on top.
  13. If you use OneDrive and a Microsoft login account with windows, reformatting the C drive is pretty painless. You can just wipe it, reinstall, and sign in again. Pretty similar to resetting your phone and the signing back in with the same Google or Apple account.
  14. Probably not an idea solution for tech that gets near water. For everything else, seems pretty perfect.
  15. Water-soluble circuit boards promise a drastic reduction in e-waste WWW.TECHSPOT.COM Infineon recently announced it will be adopting Jiva Materials' Soluboard, a biodegradable printed circuit board... Seems pretty neat. Sure would make e-waste a lot less of an issue. I wonder if there are any downsides.
  16. PS5 actually did get a price reduction recently. If a PS5 slim/cheaper to manufacture design is doable, I'd think they would do it weather or not they do a PS5 Pro.
  17. DF Weekly: PlayStation Project Q and PS5 Pro leaks raise more questions than answers WWW.EUROGAMER.NET It's basically a clean sweep for Sony and PlayStation news, leaks and rumours in this week's DF Direct Weekly news stor… I've been following PS5 Pro rumors for a while now. I didn't want to believe Pro refresh consoles would be in the works before the PS5 era feels like it's even really gotten off the ground, but with the rise of Ray Tracing and Upscaling, it seems reasonable that new consoles could justify their existence by focusing on those kind of features. If they do release a new console, I'd rather just see a PS6 that was less of a massive jump than the usual new console is, but also one that's not just there to play PS5 games at higher res and frame rate, and maybe with more RT. It's clear this gens consoles are going to struggle to hit 4k a lot of the time, any pro console refresh is going to have to avoid being seen as a do-over to try to get hardware out that can keep up with standard PS5 era features more easily. IMO, it would have to offer something new beyond just better performance. That makes me wonder, what could AMD bring to the table with a new console... Easy answer seems like better RT and performance in general, better upscaling support. However, I see potential for FSR3 to debut with a new console, or some other sort of "game changing" feature to really make it stand out.
  18. Nah, just a mid game unimportant cut scene.
  19. Didn't use expandable foam, but I cut some custom foam pieces for the inside of the computer during shipping. Beyond that I re-used the box and material the case was shipped to me in, but I knew that could be problematic because the case was damaged in shipping when it was sent to me three times in a row (three separate cases, all the same order). I added some extra packaging outside the case too, but yea, should have gone further. This shipment didn't have too far to travel though, so I wasn't too worried... probably should have been.
  20. So the PC I sold on Etsy reached the buyer yesterday. He is satisfied and gave praise to the cable management, but it wasn't a perfect landing. A few cables came loose during shipping, and one of the feet for the case broke. The buyer is PC savy, and was easily able to fix these issues, but I'd hate for a less experienced user to end up with a situation like this. So lesson is, shipping needs to be better. I used the packaging the case came in but that was less than ideal on its own. In the future I'll have to find some appropriately sized boxes to do my own packaging with. Guy left a 5-star review, so far so good.
  21. I have a 7900XT, had an RX 6800 before that. AMD driver are very solid now. I can't think of the last time I had a driver issue with a game. Everything works all the time, and in fact the AMD control panel is light years ahead of Nvidia's. The days of AMD being behind on drivers in any meaningful way are long gone. I think it's planned obsolescence in the sense that just about any new card would be able to run any games with RT turned off without issue, if only they had enough Vram. Nvidia has to make sure people can't just turn off RT and avoid having to upgrade. RT is the only thing that's not low hanging fruit on the performance tree these days, and most gamers are happy to ignore it completely. We are in a new era of graphics where GPU power is far out-pacing normal 3D rendering techniques. So now Nvidia has to both push RT and make sure the lower end of the stack can't just turn off RT and get acceptable performance without hitting a Vram bottleneck in the not too distant future.
  22. Kinda just saying the same thing in a different way. If a card is expensive, it shouldn't be considered a low tier card and should come with decent features. Gotta keep in mind that the 3000 series was supposed to have double the ram. The 3060 12GB and the 3090 are the only cards from that gen that released more or less as planned. Supply shortages are the only reason we didn't have 16GB 3070 cards and 20GB 3080s. There's no shortage now, but Nvidia didn't course correct. I think most of us see the writing on the wall, and see this as planned obsolescence. Nvidia got used to skimping on Vram on accident, now they're doing it on purpose.
  23. Update: Seems like Nvidia allowed the 16GB model to exist to address criticism that 8GB wasn't enough, but the 192-bit memory is just too constrained for it to make a difference. Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16GB Reviewed, Benchmarked | TechSpot WWW.TECHSPOT.COM Despite our fondness for the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti, we can admit that just 8GB of VRAM is not enough for a $400 GPU...
