You can get that card down below 150w and not sacrifice much folding capability.

When I'm not trying to heat the house or run up the power bill I just set it to 80% core frequency and 90% voltage (seems to stay around 2000MHz 800mV).

I've been a bit more aggressive this week though.

I've got my 6900XT running at "stock" 2500MHz boost / 2000 mem, with a -10% power tune.  Seems to be boosting still around stock levels, but only drawing around 200w instead of the 300w it was overclocked and at +12% powertune or whatever.  Hotspot isn't near throttling either, nice and "cool" 85 ish degrees on the hotspot. 🙂

Thanks.  I'm ok with a 200w load on it, especially considering I usually game at 255w for hours on end so this will be fine - rather get the points.  I've got it still at 2500mhz boost (most workloads seem to be around 2300-2400mhz core) and the mem is still set to 2100mhz w/ fast timings.   Dropped the PL -10% to 230w now just to cap it but I've yet to see it hit above 215w folding so far.  What ambient temps do you have @pioneerisloud?  My card hasn't hit even 70C on the hotspot with rpms on the reference amd cooler at 1400rpm (during folding that is).  My ambient is around 73F right now in the house.

  2. Went car shopping for my nephew after a timing belt destroyed his 1994 Subaru Legacy Wagon motor recently.  The car was  $800, already a sh*tbox and the prior owner literally treated it like a lifted jeep with about 50k worth of suspension mods.  Needless to say it didn't surprise me.

Picked up a surprisingly immaculate 2000 Toyota Camry with the 2.2L.  Plenty of new parts as it was clearly in a recent wreck but the body is perfectly straight and the interior is perfect.  Prior owner even installed a nice android auto system in it.  NGK plug wires, nice "ultra high performance all season"  BFGoodrich tires on it, nice interstate brand batter, doesn't seem to burn a drop of oil, etc.  Prior owner clearly appeared to have at least spent the money on good parts which typically means well maintained.

That said, not even 24 hours later it dies minutes after filling up the gas tank and we also realize the fuel gauge doesn't work.  I drove up to his work hours later where it died in the lot and he parked it.  Started up great for me and if anything it felt considerably peppier than the test drive.

It was an auction car prior to the shop getting it so I'm thinking adding the 9 gallons of fuel kicked up a lot of crud in the gas tank that was probably sitting for a while and it temporarily caused a fueling issue which resolved itself by sitting.

4 speed auto trans shifts smooth, everything power works, etc.   Hoping it was a simple blip because the only warranty he got on it was for major issues such as trans slipping, engine noise, etc.   The car at 24 years old has 177k so it's not young but from my understanding these are pretty much top tier in reliability, even by Toyota standards.

Those were made by Fluxmaven; they didn't come from the merchandise store. I have one too. I think he got them printed up somewhere.

Similar format is still listed on the store unless you just meant it was one time run until they sell out -

Yes. I did this in December 2022. I added .net to the logo before making t-shirt designs, so people know it's a website not something else. It is on a lot of products in the store.

Ah didn't realize that and I should have probably checked first.  Ironically the sticker I won from a recent folding event is one of the only items that actually don't have the URL on it.

  5. Just throwing it out there and it may have been discussed prior to this thread, but any consideration to actually putting the URL itself with the logo?  The logo itself is cool but it alone on stickers, mugs, etc. doesn't actually direct you to a site and can be interpreted (at least for the stickers) as a motorsports, parts, tools, bmx, etc. company.

stock or deleted, the world may never know

ok so maybe it's a little obvious outside the car but when idle and when driving I can't hear a difference

Loud enough I'd still assume you are down to run it in "mexico".    I know it's normal in most countries but in the US diesel cars are still quite rare.   Most important thing, does the butt dyno actually feel a change?

  7. I still haven't moved to 11 on my main rig...  but I'm willing to give it a try and see if the "every other windows is *decent*" motto is still true.  Unfortunately there is still some legacy software and certain games (old, new and unreleased) that only run well on Windows.

  8. I'm ok with the pc version being delayed.  We'll end up with the better, more polished version.  With the current state of games these days it seems you have to wait a year after release to get a remotely finished version anyways.  Besides, by then I'll probably have justification to upgrade my 6900XT.

Did you install / get the anti-squeal shims/brackets?

Yea, brakes were installed quite a long time ago and the issue has really gotten much worse over the past few months.  Even in very hard braking they seem to function fine so maybe a shim failed, though I'd imagine that would be quite rare.

  10. Well, had my brakes looked at by the only mechanic in the area I trust (me and the gf have been going to the same guy near enough two decades).  Apparently my rotors, calipers, pads, etc. on all four are perfect.  I'm still getting ridiculous brake noise on the front passenger and if I heat them up it makes it much louder.  Wondering if this is as simple as the metal expanding and hitting the dust shield..  Waste of $80 on the stop tech pads but I guess it's good to have them in advance.

Got the aluminum oil cap installed... it's the simple things in life sometimes.  Doesn't get hot to the touch and it's so much easier to remove.  Ask Nissan/Infiniti owners about the crap stock oil cap and the fact that you end up using pliers or a mallet to get it loose...

Windshield washer tank cap also replaced... and again a case of crappy oem design, the plastic used makes something from the dollar store feel like luxury.

Also changed out my AFE "Magnum FLOW Pro DRY S Air Filters" for some Z1 motorsports dry flow replacements and the fitment is much better.

Now I have to actually do the parts that require actual effort... such is the life of the lazy.

This is why I'm on the fence about upgrading from my 2070 until I get a setup with pci4. If I go to the current gen cards,I'll be loosing performance because it'll be running on pcie3.

I used a 6900XT on pci-e 3.0 16x with zero perceivable difference compared to 4.0 16x.  From my understanding, It actually matters much more when you are at / over your vram limit on your gpu and the slower bus absolutely can affect it.  I'm sure a 4090 or such would still see a performance regression going to pci-e 3.0 16x but you'd likely need a hell of a cpu to push it to that point in the first place.

I have the HP+ pads. They don't really dust at all - my rotors do though lol. The pads do require a bit of warm-up and that can surprise you if you aren't aware about it in low temp conditions.

edit - actually not sure if my rotors are dusting or the pads. I assume the rotors because they're really old and need replacing - but could be the pads too. Either way, I dont think you can go wrong with stoptech, hawk, project mu, or whatnot at this pricepoint. For what it's worth - stoptech got sold to a Chinese company rather recently and is moving their production to China - so expect a drop in quality. It's enough to make me avoid their BBK and I'm going to go with Wilwood or AP Racing instead.

Thanks for the heads up about Stoptech's production, hopefully the brakes I bought were from a better quality factory.  That said, the HP+ are not available for the "non-sport" version of my car (2 piston vs 4 piston) so it was either the standard HPS or Stoptech Sports for more money.  Good or bad, the HPS went out of stock and I ended up finding the stoptech's $10 cheaper on another retailer (amazon).

I also meant that the stop tech's' apparently dust a lot more than the HPS, which I'm ok with as long as the performance justifies it.  My current "performance" akebono ceramics are no longer made and they were already slightly better than what I had but don't dust at all.  I know dust is typically a compromise with performance so hopefully the stoptech's don't disappoint me.    Thanks for the heads up on cold performance too, I will definitely have to keep it in mind (though my climate should help a bit here).  I prefer not to use my brakes so I rarely get them too hot unless I'm hitting a spirited run or need an emergency stop of course.

I'm also hoping there is enough life on the OEM rotors to get one more surface clean and pad slap out of them.  If not I'm just getting some decent brand treated blanks and not bothering with slotted non sense.   Going to likely order some ATE TYP 200 brake fluid again as it seems the best price/performance for a street car that want's the brake fluid to NEVER be the failing point.

My order from Z1 motorsport *should* be here tomorrow so I'm looking forward to that.

Can't seem to put my finger on it but this seems questionable.
