Never tried it again since i got the gpu. Maybe newer driver would work better. I had enabled HDR in the tv setting and windows and amd driver app. And youtube was showing me 4k HDR as an option too.

...you already tried another HDMI 2.1 cable ? I had a bad HDMI cable before that had visual  issues/impacts. Anyhow, I'm on the latest driver that just came out a few days ago...

...the machine w/ the 6900XT doesn't have FS2020 loaded...it is my primary work machine though it does have Steam on.

FS2020 has a gazillion giant patches and it isn't very well optimized re. CPU threads - but still, my fav gaming activity - and on a 48 OLED and hi-res, it is worth it.  Cyberpunk2077 isn't too shabby, either.

Tried cyberpunk but got refunded. Kinda liked the game but gonna wait till it cheaper.

Yea on the 48" fs2020 look insane on youtube haha. With my 12700k i should be alright cpu wise.

Nvidida run ways better than amd if i look at benchmark.

Anyways 30-40 fps is enough for me in that kind of game i need to try my vr headset too. It laying around and i don't even use it 😕

Your TV's native res is 3840x2160 and it is a 16:9 screen. Pretty much all 4K TVs will output at 4096x2160 despite that being above the native res for legacy compatibility reasons.

You should use 3840x2160 to avoid aspect ratio issues. The difference between 16:9 and 16:10 is small enough that you may not notice it and could be using the wrong aspect ratio without realizing it. If you want to scale the resolution past your native res, use in game resolution scaling. I know MSFS2020 has that option.

The AMD card should do very well in FS2020 and that app's quirks. Not sure about FS2020 VR, though - I heard of folks with AMD 6xx XT and 3090 claiming it's messy / lots of stutter....could be their network connection though.

FYI, I tried running FS2020 / 8K render on my 3090 setup recently ~ 20-30 fps max...

Yes but why my 6800xt would default to this resolution while my other 4k display always defaulted to 3840. Something is wrong with the TV or Driver maybe?

Just strange that it want to default at 16:10 res

Expand

Some games I've played defaulted to 4096 even though 3840 is correct. It just happens, no big deal as long as you're aware of it.

Really, most games still default to 1080p on the first run anyway.

Lot of thing to test on my list now HDR and if i buy FS2020 the vr.

Oh well never really noticed i always set 3840x2160 since i know that 4k. I don't use fsr or any upscaling feature most of the time.

I work too much and never get any day off to play  😆

If you use 4096 res or go above 100% with an in game resolution slider then you are downscaling, not upscaling. DLSS is upscaling. Rendering above native is downscaling. 😝

...officially, FS2020 doesn't support SLI Crossfire, but there was undocumented SLI/NVLink feature for NVidia drivers called 'CFR' ('checkerboard') for the RTX2k GPUs and that works with FS2020...

I moved up to a 4K monitor for productivity reasons when I transitioned to working from home when Covid hit. A good friend had 4x 1080p displays in a grid and it was awesome but I thought to myself, why not just get a single large 4k display and have essentially the same thing without the bezels. Picked up an Asus 43" Strix and loved it. Not long after I finally saw an OLED in person and had to have it. Picked up a CX48 that I still use currently. I think the 43" was better size for a PC monitor so I'll probably pick up the new C2 42" OLED and move the CX to my bedroom.

With a 5900x and a 3090, I don't have any issue running games in full res, but since I sit relatively close, I often run games in a custom ultrawide resolution to make it a bit more manageable.

...I find 48 inch is 'max' for a working monitor...got used to it and love it. But that's only really possible with OLED / high pixel count per square inch. I tried the 55 inch IPS HDR as a monitor as well before, but it is just plain too big and doesn't have the same pixel density.

...FYI, I added some Superposition 8K comp results to the OP
