A busy evening of testing for the G.Skill competition, not that I stand a chance against the top guys but I like to do my best 😄
Still a lot of tuning/headroom but I decided to run a few benchmarks with the current settings to see how they compare later down the road.

Top one is what I'm happy with. A recent BIOS update caused me to have 1ns+ lower latency so I'm pretty happy about that. 2nd one is just to show speed and timings.

This is Samsung B-Die, and rated at 6000MHz 36-36-36-96, but I'm running it at 6200MHz 30-36-36-36 with 1.435v. Thrilled with it, and passed stressapptest in Linux for over 3 hours. Not had a crash or reboot or anything yet.

I tried 6400MHz but it was a no-go. It's a shame Ryzen memory clocks are a lot lower, but compared to my 5900x and B-Die this is pretty outstanding and definitely a big performance bump.

Very nice for b-die. Havent tried iiit yet! Micron i could get to 5600C40 (2x32GB) Hynix A-die 4x16GB to 6000C28 and M-die and A-die 2x16GB to 6200C28 tight. All with around 1,4v so pretty high., im also struggling to get pass 6200 on AM5, i think its because of the soc voltage can be only a maximum of 1,3v? With Alder Lake non-K OC on i3 and i5 its pretty much maximum stable 7100C32, and without bclk maybe 7200

for ddr4 i run a system now with DDR4-5500C20-27 with 2x16GB micron rev.b with i5 12400F at 5,5GHz. But i have to lower both to 5,4GHz if i wanna play BF2042 😛

That bandwidth is impressive, but the L3 Cache bandwidth speed is half of mine and the latency like 4 times higher.

I'm sure it can still run games ok, especially GPU bound ones, but that slow L3 is less than ideal for gaming.

Do you plan to fold on the chip as well as the 4090s?

I've got them on the Supercool waterblocks, so the ICs are actively cooled by a cold plate rather than a top-mounted block.

Love your setup!  and OC on the RAM is nuts!

Thank you. I never would have imagined running system memory at speeds like this a couple of years ago. It's crazy how high DDR5 clocks can go when the rest of the platform cooperates.

That is excellent. Not many people can get their AM5 setups to overclock the memory that well. Congrats on that.

I can do 8000MHz for benching just fine but it fails out in memtestCL nearly instantly. The difference between 7600 and 8000 is only like 2000GB/sec In Aida anyway.

Going from tight timing 6200 cas 30 on B-Die to 7600 cas 36 on M-Die has given me like 9 more fps in Forza Horizon 5 benchmark on Ultra.

I've tried everything to get stable at 8000MHz but either my IMC, my chip, or my RAM don't like it.

The 24GB A-die modules require looser timings and lower voltage on both the Z690 Dark and Z790 Apex. If you have been successful with 8000+ memory overclocking using 16GB A-die modules, you will likely find your system will not boot using the same settings with the 24GB modules. CPU VDD2, VDDQ and VDIMM had to be lowered and SA voltage increased and tRFC increased on both of my systems.  Oddly enough, tCKE had to be lower to 6 (from a default value of 30) to get the 24GB modules stable on the Dark. The Apex uses 33 for tCKE.

Well, I am pleased to find my 24/7 8600 MT/s memory overclock settings on the Apex are going to work fine on the Apex Encore as well.  So, it looks like both systems will be running the same daily driver overclock settings. 60x on P-cores, 47x on E-cores, 50x on Cache and 8600 on memory.

I will probably have to dial them back to 59x on P-cores when the hot summer weather returns. With the winter weather and my office window left open to let the cool air (and tons of dust) in I am able to keep my office between 65-70°C F compared to the normal 78-82° F hotbox it turns into the rest of the year.

Finally received the IceMan Cooling Direct Touch Memory Cooler.  Got a nice gain in RAM cooling on the Apex Encore. The IceMan direct touch RAM block seems to give about the same delta as the Supercool does. These suckers are super heavy. Heavier than the Supercool because the backplate is thicker. The black bezel on top that covers the screws is magnetized and also made of metal. If there is anything that I wish would be different is the use of Philips head screws to attach the block to the jackets. They are a bit soft. Stainless steel Allen or Torx would have been better.

Comparing it to the Byski memory water cooling kit...

And, temps are still nice with my 8600 profile even with the elevated voltage. IceMan Cooling did really great with the memory cooling kit. The water in the cooling system for the Apex is about 5°C colder than the water in the Apex Encore loop. (The Apex has a 5-gallon reservoir and the radiator is near an open window, and the radiator for the Encore is in a corner of the office.) And, the difference in temperature reflects that precisely. That being the case, I call it a draw... "Even Steven" comparing it to the Supercool memory cooling kit.
