EVENT START

How to participate:

During the competition you must be folding forTeam 239902

Stats:You can viewthestats for the foldathon here:聽https://ehwfoldingstats.lazypenguin.com

Mind the EVENT START TIMER as it is UTC time zone.

Folding is stressful on hardware, and will often break an overclock unless it's been tested with folding. I do not recommend overclocking high end GPUs as the power draw can be extreme while folding. If anything, try tuning for energy efficiency. Casualties happen and EXTREMEHW can not be held accountable if you destroy your hardware while folding.聽

Time to play.

It is a shame the weather will be in the 90s F or I could really put the PPD into overdrive

Recently, I have switched over to Team 239902

FYI: I'm now officially retired from Mod duties with EVGA Forum

Yea I was hoping for a cool week to be able to fire up more cards. I live in a big old house so it's a battle to keep it bearable inside this time of year without adding the heat load of a bunch of GPUs. Still going to suffer a bit for the cause聽馃ぃ

79.5 degrees in the office currently. SO much better than when I run the 30 series cards. My most recent GPU purchases are the 5060 TI 16GB聽and a 4070. I haven't finalized what build the 4070 will actually live in, yet so it's just on the test bench for the foldathon.聽

Both of these GPUs are pretty even in PPD doing a bit over 8m currently. The 5060 TI is doing it at 90-112w power draw. The 4070 is averaging around 180w. Both undervolted. I just got the 4070 so haven't dug as deep on the undervolt on that card but should be able to whittle it down further. This is huge because the 3090s uncorked only do a couple million more PPD at 3-4x the power draw. They also lose more PPD with a significant undervolt. The 5060 Ti seemingly just cut it's power draw in half from stock with almost no PPD loss at all.聽

I absolutely get the hate for the new Nvidia cards. They are overpriced and raw performance uplift from gen to gen isn't high. The efficiency gains are awesome though. For the average gamer with one GPU living in moms basement, I'd just get a used 3080 or an AMD card. For distributed computing running a bunch of cards, the lower power draw is a godsend.聽

@Fluxmaven聽My 9070xt is running at about 220w with minus 30% tdp limit. I feel you my 14k portable a/c and 5k windows unit have a hard time time keeping it cool. 29c outside.

PPD is like 4m

Thanks for the PPD feedback

I agree that the 3080Ti do pull some Watts. Though the PPD is not bad 8M - 10 M
(I've got 2 - 3080Ti FTW3 Hybrid pushing estimated over 19 M, PPD (for the pair) & pulling 1000 Watts on the X99 MB)

It is about time I sell some of my 3080Ti FTW3 GPUs; maybe my 3090Ti FTW3 Hybrid ...... probably keeping my 3090Ti KingPin - "Last of the EVGA KP legends" (as I am unwilling to let it go for less than what it cost; besides it looks way cool in my EVGA X299 Dark MB)

Thanks for turning things up a bit. There was a brief time when I thought I might be able to stay ahead but checked again and you were blowing my doors off.

Hitting finish on most of the rigs since we're about at the end of the foldathon. I'd love to fold hard 24/7 but can't justify fighting the AC. Electric bill was just over $800 last month and will be the same or worse this month.

I'm going to keep my 3090 FTW3 a bit longer since it's still under extended warranty. The 3090 Kinpin is the only 30 series card I will end up keeping long term since it has some sentimental value due to some custom modifications a friend did. All the rest I'd happily replace with more efficient cards... Need to take care of a few other things before dropping money on higher end cards though.聽

Yeow, over $800.00 / month!

Mine is not that expensive thankfully (@ ~ $0.14/ kWh), though I've seen it over $600/M before.聽 Still cheaper than owning a boat.

Yes, the Electric bill for both running the Rigs & the extra central A/C load, to keep the house cool does get to be a bit of a money pit.聽

My folding will slow down for the rest of the summer months; you might see more PPD once the cold winds start to blow in the late fall / early winter.聽 ( see photo,聽 128.5 M Points in 24 Hours / not bad for summertime fun)

Can't wait to see聽 the next electric bill.聽聽

Thank You damric, for all that you do for Extreme HW Folding community

I enjoyed the 48 Hr sprint, thanks for letting me play!
