  1. I have to say the big bucks to invest in marketing gimmicks paid off because a significant number of people associate ray tracing with NVIDIA. Not many look past this and realize this is just math and anyone can use it. Xe will have Ray Tracing and now AMD shows they have it too.

For the first attempt at real time ray tracing AMD hasn't done a bad job. We need to be fair and acknowledge that NVIDIA is on their second generation Ray Tracing design and they should have a bit of an advantage. I expect Intel's first iteration to be at a low level but I hope I am wrong.

I will be honest and admit that I always preferred Ruby to Nalu. I remember the days of getting a card with her on the cooler and how she looked with her dual swords when you'd install something from ATI.

These past years have been depressing in the tech industry and I cannot be happier to see competition in the GPU segment. As I have reached a point where I care about stability, support, and the ecosystem, I will probably pick my GPU based on these factors as well.

It is no surprise that NVIDIA will prepare a new Titan and some sharp TI cards when going down to 7nm TSMC.

I am still running a 1080p screen and come spring I aim to move on 4K. This will require a new system and I am very excited. Maybe Rocket Lake is competitive as well. Who knows, I look forward to a mobo like the APEX but for AMD chips.

If Sapphire makes a Vapor-X that kills everything, I might go AMD.

    I can't wait :)

  2. I can't wait for the reviews now.
It seems the 6900 version was benched vs the 3090 with AMD gimmicks on (Rage mode, etc).
If the 6900 is 70-80% of the 3090 performance at MSRP then we do have some benefit as consumers.
I am more worried of AIB pricing. I am sure the AMD partners will take some cards with 20-30W additional TDP and will match without AMD exclusive features the performance Ampere has.

Sadly this will be reflected in the price.

There are a few replies to the twitter announcement that it got delayed again that are basically "kill yourself"

I think they should just announce on twitter that every time they get a reply like that, they're going to delay it another 5 minutes. It will be funny.

That made me laugh ! Thanks !

  4. I saw something on the internet this morning and I hope people are not truly threatening CDPR employees for not releasing.

I think this was on Videocardz in the comment sections and some people there acted like this was the end of the world.

Kiddie tantrums because the game is delayed.

When it comes to pre-ordering, Mass Effect Andromeda taught me I should not but Battlefront was the one slapping me hard in the face. Since BF1 came out I stopped pre-ordering all EA games and no longer play them.

I will admit I pre-ordered AC Valhalla because UBI was in trouble and I did not want people to lose their jobs during the pandemic.

CDPR products are gonna be on my pre-order list as long as they continue to put quality in their products. I prefer to pay the full price in advance in order for the employees to have access to their bonuses and make their families happy.

This is the reason I bought two versions of this game.

TW3 was not a perfect game and I had some bugs. One of them quite game breaking as I could never craft weapons with Hatori. The damn mission to interface with the crates was bugged as hell. I tried 2 days to fix it but never could.

Excluding this, the experience and the world design was mind blowing. You cannot get such results if you don’t have the desire to do well by your customers.

  5. I see a lot of people on YouTube with clickbait titles and I do not really understand why this approach is needed. I won't get into Star Citizen but given the current situation and pressure on these guys we have to appreciate their courage to stand their ground.

It is not easy to make such statements when today's generation is all about pitchforks and cancel culture. On my side, I booked vacation for the release and I will need to keep the days because of scheduling conflicts.

I am sure that some devs have been working day and night to make it happen. CDPR is a transparent company and they deserve all the time they need to release this product. For me, this is the perfect time to show your fanbase that you are willing to work old-school and release a working product rather than have your customers give you money for something you will have to fix in the first 6 months of release.

  6. I will arrange in the next week to run this on a different machine.

I would need to open it up and give it a thorough cleaning and TIM job because it has been 4 years since I took care of it.

    Its a dinosaur:

    Mobo: X58 Formula III Rampage

CPU : X5650 @ 4.2 GHz. Most likely I will have to drop the clock to 3.8-4.0 GHz to drop case temps for the GPU.

RAM : 16 GB G-Skill in Dual Channel as I can't run Triple Channel anymore. My cooler killed the socket. Running a Venomous X with a crap load of pressure with Zalman ZF3 fans. For some reason the Triple channel slot no longer works.

    SSD : 960 Pro 512 GB i think.

    GPU: KFA RTX 2070

Case : Antec 902 with Noctua Fans.

As some of you know, I am folding on my 2070 MaxQ Razer. I am no longer worried about temps as it seems the cooling solution is adequate if I do not allow the CPU at full clocks. I gimped it with Throttle Stop between 2.9 and 3.4 GHz while allowing the GPU to clock at times to 1500 MHz.

My worry is the battery swelling because, unlike old school laptops, this battery requires me to open the whole thing and unplug various sensitive connectors which, with my yetti hands, might break.

The stock sale by Ma’s finance giant is one of the most hotly anticipated IPOs in years, on course to make history by surpassing Saudi Aramco’s record $29 billion share sale in 2019. Large investors have put in bids of about 68 to 69 yuan a share for the Shanghai stock, Reuters reported. That would value the China portion of the sale at as much as $17.3 billion, or close to $35 billion for the dual listing including the Hong Kong leg.

The Ryzen 9 5950X scores are no longer available, but German publication ComputerBase managed to grab screenshots of the Zen 3 flagship's results before they were erased. Given the circumstances, it's uncertain if the Ryzen 9 5950X was overclocked or whether it was paired with memory that surpass the official supported DDR4-3200 specification. While we wait on the full review, we recommend you take the PassMark scores with a pinch of salt.

  9. To be honest, I am curious of the pricing because performance will be on par. As I see from news outlets, they had to sign some licensing agreements to use a lot of tech on these cards. I will laugh my ass off if Intel gets a solid implementation with their cpu-gpu parts as prices will simply go up. I remember how everyone would look for the non gpu chips but this trend might change.

People tend to forget how strong quicksync was until others managed to provide their alternative solutions.

The announcements for AMD's Big Navi RDNA2 based graphics cards is getting closer. And we can see chatter and noise build up on the web alright. Today an alleged sample(s) of Asus ROG Strix RX 6800 (XT) variants would be able to achieve high clock speeds in 3dmark 11.

3Dmark 11 is of course massively outdated and thus not even the slightest bit GPU limited. In such a situation your GPU frequency can go up significantly. That said; Twitterer Patrick Schur informs us about engineering samples with a total graphics power of 290 W and one with 255 W.

The video card with a tgp of 255 W shows clock speeds in the two results with a midpoint approximately at 2,350 MHz and boost peaks to 2,557 MHz. Average clock speeds would fluctuate dramatically due to driver issues. One test result shows an average clock speed of almost 2,300 MHz, with the other result the average is less than 2,000 MHz.

The tested video card with a tgp of 290 W shows comparable results. With three benchmark rounds, the median is between 2,300 MHz and 2,370 MHz and a boost outlier of 2,556 MHz has been recorded. The average clock speeds were between 2090 MHz and 2290 MHz.

News about the DG2 is almost more interesting. It should be based on Xe HPG, where HPG stands for high-performance gaming. And that GPU should now be manufactured and tuned to market readiness in Intel's laboratories. There would then be dedicated graphics cards for gamers who will hopefully also be competitive with the two competitors.

DG2 should arrive by the end of next year. Although Intel does not give specific data as to where they are pointing, and only say that they point to the "enthusiast segment" and "high performance", rumors have already been commissioned to say that the new Intel card would match the performance of an RTX 3070.

“Facing the rise of the red supply chain, the threat of Taiwan manufacturers being replaced continues to increase,” Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute, a think tank backed by Taiwan government, wrote in a September report.

Luxshare, whose chairwoman was once a worker at Taiwanese Apple supplier Foxlink 2392.TW, acquired two smaller factories belonging to Taiwanese iPhone assembler Wistron in China in July. Previously, Luxshare was best known for making Apple's AirPods.

One of the sources called it a “formidable opponent”, and said Foxconn has been conducting extensive research on Luxshare, aiming to “defeat it completely.”

Could this be the beginning of a new outsourcing trend in other areas of the globe?
