There's nothing wrong with that. Unless you have a specific BIOS feature that lets you dynamically switch between the two based on load, you pretty much either choose lower all-core OC, or PBO+CO to take advantage of maximum single core boosts.

I also decided that I'd prefer a part that has 8-core CCDs for that latency penalty reason. What I don't know yet is which. I really have no use for a 9950X/X3D so my guess is I'll opt for a 9800X3D to replace my 5900X. Also interested to see what Arrow Lake bring, but I have a hunch I'll end up AMD again for the daily rig.

Will be interested to see if they do a split-CCD style X3D on the Ryzen 9 SKUs again. I really was not a fan of that. Made the 7900X3D a particularly puzzling part as its functionally worse than a 7800X3D in gaming / loads that make use of the added cache but parks the cores on the 2nd CCD.

Definitely feels like Zen 2 to Zen 3. Similar or same clocks as Zen 4, but higher IPC and efficiency gain. Very similar to the Zen 2 to Zen 3 move. Overall, good to see. Also liking to see the lower TDP numbers for the 9900X and 9700X. That said, I imagine a lot of gamers will be waiting for the 9800X3D. Interesting that they didn't talk price yet.

Thanks for sharing. Going back to your original question, even if you did find 64gb dimm modules, four dimm slot X570 boards only support up to 128gb which is 32gb per slot max. If your X570i has only two dimm slots, then it stands to reason that they also only support up to 32gb per slot for a max of 64gb. This is why you aren't finding any consumer grade DDR4 meant for AM4 in any higher capacities per dimm. It's all workstation / ECC stuff for Threadripper / EPYC platforms that have the higher per dimm slot support.

Your 3700X is stable FCLK at 1900? Max I could get on my 5900X was 1866, so run my RAM at DDR4-3733. Nope, no AM4 EPYC.

How are you doing DDR4-4000 on a 3700X? To my knowledge the max per dimm for consumer desktop non-ECC DDR4 is 32gb so you need 4x dimms to get 128gb.

Well look at the topology. How many of the Z690/Z790 enthusiasts are loudly complaining about the Intel IMC and how nicely it plays with 4 DIMM boards, etc. See it every day. The advantage here is the topology, and theoretically you might be able to get quad channel back on desktop with this standard using two CAMM2 modules which would be interesting. Like anything new in tech it doesn't make much sense now, but I suspect that will change in the future. The DIMM standard and trace topology isn't doing any favors as we progress to higher and higher speeds. DDR5 has seemed especially awful for rolling out compared to what I remember for DDR4 and DDR3. DDR5 is a lot better now, but it's definitely been rough.

Tabletop gaming and tabletop RPGs. We do things like GURPs and World of Darkness. Used to do DnD, but frankly it just keeps getting worse with each version. We switch to Pathfinder 2nd Edition and like that much better than the last DnD 5E session we did. I'm probably the newest one to tabletop in the group since I didn't grow up playing that, but it's a lot of fun. I'm running my first campaign in PF2E. Some nights we also just do board games and have fun with those too. Lots of 4-5 player stuff. One thing I'd like to take back up is piano. I took lessons growing up but didn't get far since I started it as a teenager. I do really enjoy playing though so I'd love to pick it up again. Would need to invest in a properly graded weighted key digital piano if I do. I don't really consider anything I do with my car a hobby and I don't know how to do much past the basics. Got burned once and started learning how to do all my own basic maintenance, mostly out of spite because I was pissed. But that's about it.

I would be very shocked if a gun maker actually used a video game like COD for marketing material. That really does not make much sense to me. More likely COD features military weapons like M4's, and M16's, and the gun maker just so happens to manufacture AR-15's, and because COD has a same looking weapon, it's "marketing".

Doubt it. The move from 40-series to 50-series also sees a move to GDDR7 which will have better bandwidth/speed, and again will also see a larger L2 cache. I mean I could be totally wrong about the 5090 and they might go all out on it, but the rest of the stack? Probably going to mirror the 40-series a ton in terms of 256-bit and 192-bit products in the 80 and 70 tiers.

I still really doubt the 512-bit rumor for a consumer product in the GeForce stack. But who knows, Nvidia could decide $2500 is the way to go and 512-bit gives them more vram capacity until higher density GDDR7 modules come out. For now their density is the same as GDDR6X (2GB per module).
