  1. It's funny how much resolution changes things. I upgraded from a 1080p to a 1440p monitor in 2019 and suddenly I wasn't happy with my 4790k/GTX 980, while on 1080p it was still perfectly fine performance wise. Though should be noted I wasn't always playing the latest and greatest. But once I upgraded to 1440p, there were suddenly situations where I couldn't effectively run certain games at the setting I wanted, or even at all.
  2. Wait, so this is all core boost? Very impressive.
  3. Yeah do have to admit that was a great facepalm moment.
  4. Thanks, will definitely pick this up down the road, next time it's on sale. Have some stuff already waiting for me to finish the new rig.
  5. Yeah if I was full time using a filter, I'd get something similar to this. I only used the fuel filter during Blitz Part 2 and subsequent distilled water flushing runs.
  6. Does your source for cable combs have any for the Nvidia 12-pin? Finding my 12-pin to dual 8-pins adapter a bit unwieldy with regards to the individual cables.
  7. Yeah was toying with that idea or maybe a 45 degree angle in there as well. Going to maybe try a few pieces and see what I like. The one issue I am running into is the tight run from the bottom rad to the pump return. I may get another fitting so I can run a small straight tube there. Trying to run a very tight 90 bend in that tubing hasn't been working well.
  8. Admit it, I think you are a glutton for punishment with the reddit-esque threads on OCN @Outsider.
  9. Pretty good game? Been thinking of picking up.
  10. Nice, yeah I notice many go from the bottom up, which I guess is an option, but not typically how my loops have been. So to be clear on loop order: Res/Pump -> CPU block -> 360GTX (top rad) -> GPU block -> flow/temp meter -> 360GTS (bottom rad) -> back to res/pump. I've typically always ran my loops in a top down order. Is there a good reason to switch it? Didn't think it really mattered.
  11. Been a while, had a little time this weekend to practice some more multi bend tubes. I managed to get the CPU block to top radiator run done. Now I am contemplating the best way to do a tubing run from the reservoir to the CPU block. Any ideas?
  12. Yeah, we'd get boxes of basic Lenovo keyboards as our stocked equipment and I would do the same. Time to chuck and replace.
  13. As much as I absolutely despise Twitter, and do believe they are biased as so many organizations are politically, I don't care. Its a platform I refuse to use to exercise my free speech, and as @UltraMega has stated, it's not a news source. As far as I am concerned the real issue is the stupidity of society for treating it like one, which let's be real is just people trying to 1up each other with their quick little gotcha or whatever their character limit equivalent term is for a "sound bite" would be, that their echo chamber "news" came up with to "own" the other side. As someone just watching the state of politics, it's like watching two sports teams that are bitter enemies fighting each other after the big game. I suppose the argument could be made that it is an avenue for expressing free speech, but back towards Ultra's point, nothing protected me from saying something profoundly untrue or stupid in real life and being mocked for it. Free speech just means I don't suffer any legal consequences for it.
  14. Bingo. They also spill lots of stuff too and seemingly don't care.
  15. I just don't like working on petri dishes. That included people's nasty laptops, but also people's keyboards back when I worked desktop and the keyboards in question perfectly qualified as biohazardous waste. Funny, when I moved out of desktop, I suddenly stopped getting sick so often lol.
  16. Yeah I think I ended up with the cheapened one. I didn't know any better back then. It's PCB has noticeably fewer components on the backplate vs the reference.
  17. 30-series has kind of been an outlier in typical chip tiering and branding from Nvidia over the last decade post-Fermi. My guess is due to being on Samsung 8nm. They really were trying to squeeze out what they could. There's no way they were going to get away with a 3080 on GA-104 this round after Turing. Otherwise, all the x80 non-Ti cards have been mid-range chips going back to the 680 with the exception of the 780, but it was heavily cut down. I suspect moving to a better TSMC process (I think 6nm if I recall from the rumors?) my guess is they can start segmenting the 80 class card down again. The biggest giveaway is the 16GB rumor. Back to 256-bit for the 80 card which would be the same as the 2080, 2080 Super, 1080, 980, 680.
  18. Well awesome job with the restoration. Night and day difference.
  19. Did that 5770 come out of a smoker's house? I have a Sapphire and XFX 5770, but both have the reference blower coolers. The Sapphire is a reference board, but the XFX while looking like one, definitely is not on closer look.
  20. Well if you are looking more for deals and don't have to be on the latest and greatest, then yeah both 12th gen and Zen 3 parts should be found at pretty good prices these days. I haven't been tracking 12th gen pricing, but do recall the CPUs as being competitive, and Zen 3 can be had well below MSRP. The cost with 12th gen will be the new motherboard and DDR5...which will also be true with Zen 4 / AM5 when it launches. GPUs on the other hand are only now starting to hit their MSRPs...almost 2 years after they launched with rumors of the new ones as early as this summer or into September. So up to you there.
  21. Yeah AM4 is dead. I guess really would want to know what your use case is? Gaming only, or have some other uses in mind? If you really need it now, definitely want to know your use case. If not in a rush, wait for Zen 4 and Raptor Lake and go from there depending on which meets your needs.
  22. What kind of FPS do you get on the 6900XT with RT&DLSS turned off at 4k? Yeah I would have liked to see a version of the 6900XT with a 384-bit bus. I mean could have even met in the middle and done a 320-bit with 20GB GDDR6 + the Infinity cache and I'd imagine that would have really helped it at 4k.
