  1. don't you have 12th gen go pick on someone your size
  2. why not both trying to get back into HWBOT but I don't feel like shunt modding my 3080 Ti just yet
  3. dunno about "always", I had this same fan setup on 3 motherboards and this is the only one trying to fly around the room.
  4. just epower your DDR5, no more temp problems ez
  5. sweet, thanks now I have to decide if $80 is worth fixing a minor annoyance
  6. I hunted for one when I first built my HTPC (X300W with no PCIe expansion) and I had to settle for 5 GbE I'm using a StarTech USB adapter (US5GA30) and I don't have any complaints, after you take the USB overhead into account I really only just see ~ 3 GbE sustained though. It was the cheapest when I bought it (was $80) but it's $120 now, if I was buying one now I'd probably spring for the TrendNet TUC-ET5G ($69). Dunno how well prices match up over there though.
  7. I've got 11 fans in my system and 6 are iPPC 3000s, and the BIOS-set fan profile doesn't kick in until after POST. My PC basically levitates until after the system POSTs, then the BIOS set profile kicks in until the OS loads my Argus curve. It seems to be a board specific problem, my Taichi follows BIOS-set fan speed/profiles before POST and IIRC my Aorus Pro did too. Short of swapping fans or boards, is there a fix? If I had an open 3.5/5.25 bay I'm sure I could get some fan controller with a delay function but I can't seem to find anything on one I can stick inside the case. sos, help please
  8. upgraded from a 10900K/1080 Ti to a 10900K/3080 Ti back in January and have been happy with it. just get a 3x 8-pin version if you plan on playing with the XOC BIOS.
  9. AMD 64 3000+ Venice Intel Pentium 4 Cedar Mill (631/641/651/661) Intel Pentium D Presler (915/920/930/940/945) AMD X4 960T Thuban never owned a Cedar Mill P4/Pentium D but they OCed to the moon and were the first to regularly OC to 4+ Ghz. even though AMD matched (or beat) their performance it was still cool to see OCs to >4.0+ in 2006 considering AMD didn't crack 3.0 until 2007. my 4650G is pretty neat but I wouldn't call it my favorite of all time
  10. does minimum RPM matter? if so just check to see if the minimum RPM is shifted or not too, sometimes higher max RPM = higher minimum RPM It's not usually listed as a spec though so you gotta find someone who's used both
  11. to be clear D'Jango measures his age in number of big bang -> big freeze -> big bang cycles cyclical universe ban
  12. to be fair, anyone who bought any GPU at MSRP before COVID made a good investment. I sold a RX 580 for double the price I paid.
  13. 4650G (HTPC): i3 4020Y (my tablet for VCDS): 10850K (old main CPU): 9900K (old main CPU): i3 8109u (old HTPC CPU): G5500 (old CPU in my NAS): if I don't forget I'll do my 10900K (main) and 8700K (NAS) tomorrow.
  14. thought I posted already but I'm playing though RDR2 again with my new GPU. 1440p on ultra with DLSS on quality with a 3080 Ti is getting me 2x the FPS I was getting on my 1080 Ti at 1440p with a 90% (0.925 IIRC?) resolution scale at HUB settings (mix of medium and high).

if you decide to go more modern, I got stuck with a Z590 Gigabyte Aorus Pro AX when I bought my GPU. I've been trying to sell it locally but no bites yet
