  1. I think you just gave it away, but I guess we'll know for certain very soon.
  2. 1 less cloud GPU to fold in FAT. Congrats!
  3. Well, I think you removed yourself when you tried to push your suggested changes into immediate effect, or else, but we'll get it all sorted out with E.
  4. That was the point of the Team Captains discussing changes. We did that because we know there are flaws. But, you're not going to just threaten us with quitting and single-handedly change the event rules mid-month. Please allow time for @ENTERPRISEto digest this situation. We've been discussing the issues and resolutions publicly here today in this thread with everyone involved. If we deem removing 960 will be needed, meaning the Team Captains feel it is best, not me, then that's what will happen. We're all trying to have a little fun while contributing to folding@home. It's the first official month. It's a unique event that's not for everyone, and there will be growing pains.
  5. Yes, he was very supportive of you, I can back him there @damric But, I told him I've used my 960 all along, and that it was dying right at the end of the month, and that it was always my intention to use it. Still no reprieve from him and I don't understand that at all.
  6. I can't help but mumble to myself that all of this work it would take is above my pay grade here. I'll have to wrap my head around this idea later when I'm not working. I'm on limited sleep, so
  7. Look at the LARS for 960 as of today. We're using 181,847 from the 31st. It's barely gone up. Edit: Also, they have the 950 shown as being a better folder.
  8. Yeah, that's very helpful. At least we may be able to nail this down to 1 GPU. Do you know how long the Moonshot Work Units will last? Edit: I have an E now @Avacado
  9. It's just the best we could do, you know? People who were in this event previously know how hard it is to make the event fair. But, things were going good until Moonshot started. Also, I agree that @firedflyrunning a stock 960 on air shouldn't smash everybody but me. The card wouldn't have if Moonshot didn't end up being so unpredictable. I think our cards are literally pulling only those units. I don't really understand that. I had no way to account for it. Those ideas are not bad ideas at all. We'll discuss them. Thank you for taking the time to provide them. Right, but for some odd reason, it's all we seem to pull on our 960s. The newer and fast cards are not getting many of them. Some, but not every one like these 960s. Is the K4000 doing it to? You had a 15 million point day, and then it sort of trickled down, so likely not. Folding Discord told me advanced is a dead flag, but I swear I still get more PPD using it, and I do.
  10. I understand why. I'm sorry we couldn't change it right away per your request, but rest assured changes will be discussed, agreed upon with all Team Captains, and put into place to try and level the event out as best we can.
  11. Yeah, I'm sorry we don't see eye to eye on things. But, moving on. The Team Captains are mulling over some event changes to try and level out the event as much as we can going forward, but no changes will take place in the middle of a live event. While it's looking a little imbalanced at this time, I want to make sure everyone understands that etf is only supposed to be a fun, casual, competition. What has happened is some GPUS have outperformed others, and we're discussing ways to try and re-balance the event. The goal for the event participants is to get as much work crunched for the whole month. Some tips and reminders, Linux Kernel currently does not support higher ppd Moonshot Projects. If you're on Linux, you'll be at a disadvantage. Also, overclocking and watercooling combined will achieve better results/higher points. Some of these older GPUS seem to do nearly double the PPD on Moonshot WUS. I didn't know it would be so drastic. My 960 went from an average of 327k to somewhere between 550k and 625k, depending on the unit. Newer GPUS either are not pulling them as frequently, or are not anywhere near doubling. While the Moonshot Project has thrown a hard fork in the event, we do support participating and helping with The Moonshot Project. So, what I have setup is an advanced flag, selecting covid-19, and Windows 10. We'll keep everyone updated on the changes your Team Captains will decide to make together, but please voice any suggestions to your Team Captain via a PM, and they'll bring them up. Thank you all for helping. Tag @ENTERPRISE
  12. That's why I really did not say anything myself during testing. It's pretty obvious that you have a highly overclocked GPU that should have been dominant. That level of effort is supposed to be a way everyone in the event can do better. But, what I'm hearing is your units shouldn't have affected LARS unless you ran the Chrome LARS Extension? @firedfly I gotta get with you on that whole process and at least see how it all works.
  13. Yeah, I've already had someone mention benching a card for a month and running it stock to manipulate LARS, and then re-entering the event. But, has it actually happened? I really couldn't tell you, but I'd say it has not because it's just now coming to light (I wish it did during testing), and no one has really changed GPUS for reasons other than hardware issues, except for tictoc and firedfly. Is it maybe enough for me to just add a rule against it, and just take the angle that everyone will be honest? I think it should be. We're all folding for a good cause. There's no real advantage to cheating after this month when the prizing goes away. As much as the folding baseline option seems like the perfect cure, it's just not going to happen for the reasons firedfly stated. That one is a hard no from me, dogg. But, if we go to monthly LARS, and we can implement a 2 gen cap at some point in 2 categories, and make the rule against lars manipulation, how happy would that make everyone?
  14. You know I did think about that, but it's still hard to even get the last 2 generations. I'd probably have 50 GPUS by now if it weren't. It's still a good idea though. Probably one of the easiest to implement too. We could take a tally of what GPUS people have in the event to see if it would cause someone to drop out, and possibly re-align which Category people are in to make it work.
  15. Hey, I do want to improve things, but we're 12 days into the event. The ideas are all being taken into account for discussion with the Team Captains during the last week of this month. From there, we'll all decide what to work on and implement. It's the 12th, and your first full tracked day of folding has you pretty near the top of daily production. I don't think it's as broken as you lead us onto believe. I have squeezed nearly every bit of oc out of the 960 as I could. Does a K4000 overclock? Is it under water? It's not that far away from my 960.
  16. There will always be someone who won't like the way things are working. I ran my 960 at it's max oc for the last 4 months testing in this events beta. I didn't change to the 3080ti for nothing at the start of the month. 960 started failing units, so I knew something was up. There will always be issues. But, what will be the next complaint from you after we go to monthly LARS?
  17. It's not really something I can take on at month end, but the automation sounds interesting. I didn't realize you already worked on it. We moved away from using Windows/Linux values though, and it's all o/s now. I don't really want to change it for September, but possibly October and after. What does it think? I could make a testing team and put 2 of you on it with your new gpus to test what they really do if you'd like. I wanted to eventually have something like that anyway for people wanting to test hardware.
  18. You make me want to get a 2600k to battle you in benchmarks. You do know AMD got sued over saying it has 8 cores, right?
  19. Well, the Kenworth Plant here locally had to build lots to hold their chipless/finished otherwise trucks. At least 1 sq mile worth could be seen for several weeks last month and before, but they're starting to move. They were literally putting a chip in to move it/test, and then removing it to move onto the next truck.
  20. I think I have enough of a GPU variety to switch the stats monthly, but the initial decision was quarterly. I seriously don't think my work units are in the last 500 lars submissions unlike poor @damric who it is probably likely for. But, we were working toward automating the stats to automatically update the multipliers. Right now, it's a bit trivial to achieve with the current state of the stats site. I can't seem to update the multipliers without creating a new hardware name. I really don't want to bother zodac with that right now. He just moved and started his job. He did a ton of work to get us here and may need a little time. Asking me to change a bunch of hardware, multipliers, and stuff on the last day of the month every month isn't really in the cards for me. The last day of the month in the mortgage business gets very crazy. But, if things get real out of hand in September, maybe we could in October. I don't think any moonshot wu crunching card will do very good next month. Could be a real crapshoot either way. I will say this though, Michael Hertz is looking down and laughing at his GPU kicking all of your @$$3$!
