  1. Thanks for getting this set up, E. It's the little things like that which count
  2. Bottlehead Mainline amp coupled to FOCAL CLEAR PRO & Dan Clark (Mr. Speaker) ETHER C Flow headsets. I use an RME ADI-2 Pro FS as a dac for both my headset amp and powered speakers (Acoustic Energy AE1s).
  3. EVGA opened up their autonotify queue at 10AM PT for the KPE Hydrocopper block: There were apparently a number of people hitting ctrl+F5 at the same time and as of now, I was the slowest to get in. Must be because I'm ancient...
  4. ...but he's a pook deer wannabe In all seriousness though, congrats. I'm sure you'll do a great job
  5. I've done business with Mountain Mods relativity recently (the past 18 months or so), and had no problems. Just an fyi in case anyone is wondering about their service.

    The ugly side

Fuses for the Trumbull knife switch showed up (installed, tested, fully functional), as did the pair of chain-gang blues (Folsom Prison) handcuffs: Also rearranged things a bit so I could squeeze the large copper cooling tubing for my still into the picture: That's still-life, btw.
  7. Nice I'm ordering something similar tomorrow, albeit for a slightly different purpose: I'll cut it into suitably sized strips to replicate this green effect in the items I've got in my display that contain fluorescent uranium (need 365nm wavelength):
  8. Maybe it's time for "science" to stop messing with certain aspects of mother nature?

A story? More like a collection of stories culminating in something akin to Forrest Gump. Life has been one huge box of chocolates

    The ugly side

Again, thanks guyz The clutter doesn't bother me in the least and when i started out with this wall display, I was going to squeeze as much as I could into it. There's actually a lot of social-psychology wrapped into its theme, which pretty much has to do with a lot of things that helped make me (and many others) what I/we are today. Anyway... For those who commented on the "Frankenstein" aspects of the display: Still need to add fluids to the vessel holding the brain there. That would be what follows: The two small bottles arrived today. I also received a few other small bottles which I've added to the "radioactive" section of the display: That's it for now.
  11. i once overheard some women having dinner at the next table joking about little things coming in big packages. i will say that they were a bit on the largish side...

thanks, guyz ? here's an after dark shot with the one light in the far left turned off:

    The ugly side

it's still a bit ugly and probably fits best here at the moment... lighting setup works fine and i'll post another shot once it gets dark. dimmers have been added to most of the lighting, but i still have to add a dimmer to the one that's currently hidden in the far left. my jury rigged test setup: the bigger picture: also going to throw an ammeter on it to see how much current the whole thing draws when fully powered; and I'm still waiting on fuses for the big knife switch.
  14. Large dikes (wire cutters, for those who need clarification), an arbor for a 3/4 inch hole saw, some JB Weld Steel Stick, a can of shiny chrome/silver Rustoleum, some small E12 light bulbs, a four socket harness for those bulbs, a 1/4 inch wood chisel, more jute covered twisted wire, yadee, yadee, yada, etc., so I can finish up what follows (my other "RGB" fixture):
  15. I did one or two for E on OCN in my day:
  16. Ordering a pair of Acoustic Energy AE-1 speakers tomorrow for my desktop. They'll be driven by my RME ADI-2 Pro FS, which I've been using with my headset setup (Bottlehead Mainline, FOCAL CLEAR PRO & Dan Clark (Mr. Speaker) ETHER C Flow headsets). As for my mike, I'm using an EV RE20 that I run through a Sound Devices USBPre 2. While it's not completely hooked up at the moment because I'm finishing wiring the lighting system on my "project," here's a pic of the layout: The desk lamp will be repurposed once the shelf lighting is functional. I've had my eye on the AE-1s for over a year now and tomorrow I'm finally going to order them.
  17. Some of us use both, as well as a portable oil-less panhead compressor when the going gets really tough.
  18. Yeah, I was ready to ask for a refund from the seller if the package he sent me wasn't here by the end of this month. What with the Pandemic shipping delays the situation was somewhat understandable, but for whatever reasons, items from Germany were taking the longest to get here and items I purchased from countries like Russia and the Ukraine were arriving a lot faster. ...and that was before that container ship got stuck in the Suez As for creepy, could be, depending on your pov. I won't be doing any real brain surgery though. OTOH...
  19. One of the last pieces of my puzzle that I've been waiting on today showed after 90 days in transit from Germany: Abby Normal's brain. Just need to dress up the cloche and its base now and add fluids.

    *RANT* HDD's

Guess I'll toss my two pennies in: I served 20 years in USAF maintenance specializing in airborne radar, navigation, and communication systems, and retired in '92 Half of that was on A-10s at RAF Bentwaters (2.5 years), following by one four year tour each at Forward Operating Locations (FOLs) Noervenich and Leipheim in Germany. Also spent two years at Soesterberg in Holland, and two years at Torrejon, near Madrid. Now you know where I got my sense of humor from.
  21. The ac lamp test diode module that i'll be using with my take on rgb showed up today: The lamp colors are green (nominal), yellow (caution), red (warning), and blue (test), which will indicate whether temps have exceeded certain parameters (gpu/cpu temps; i'm pretty sure i can make that switchable). The lamps will be controlled by an arduino fed signals from the testbench/aquero6xt, and coupled to a relay module which will perform the actual switching of the AC voltage, I might also add a uva bulb to the side which would give me five total, or gyrbu (e.g., rugby; a Pook™ suggestion).
  22. ^Plenty of white noise there to help you sleep. Pretty cool
