  3. Agreed with a lot of your sentiment. Until we get modern, fully path traced games, which is likely a COUPLE console generations away, it will always be hybrid RT and the trade offs aren't usually worth it. More info on Hybrid RT here: https://media.contentapi.ea.com/content/dam/ea/seed/presentations/2019-ray-tracing-gems-chapter-25-barre-brisebois-et-al.pdf I have no qualms if in remakes of older games, they move the entire rendering pipeline* to path tracing. Like Portal RTX but the base complexity of the game has to be quite low for current hardware to handle the lighting. Seems like with a 2000$ RTX 4090, we can play Xbox 360 / PS3 games with path tracing. Even then, it needs a lot of work.
  4. Third party comparisons across a suite of different AIB cards? Not that I am aware of besides TechPowerUp. I've dropped a link in the OP from Videocardz. Which includes various different outlets reviewing the cards they have. @gupsterg from OCN has quite a few cards for a more personal feedback. I would start here because the Taichi is their latest review, which should mean that it's the most current cross-comparison. ASRock Radeon RX 7900 XTX Taichi Review WWW.TECHPOWERUP.COM ASRock Radeon RX 7900 XTX Taichi is the company's flagship Navi 31 design. The card comes with a large factory overclock, an upgraded 3x 8-pin power capability and a triple-slot, triple-fan thermal solution. Our...
  5. For anyone interested, a pre-order on GMG saves you 15%.
  6. That’s how I justified Hogwarts XD My wife surprised me when it was released. She’s not into games but mentioned she would watch/ play Hogwarts. Then I was surprised by how good the game is and it’s my current slow burner. For what it’s worth, gaming is easily one of the cheapest hobbies. I find myself indulgent with game purchases knowing that: a) Even if it results in only one or two nights of fun, it’s usually worth it. b) I like to support the industry that brought me years of entertainment. c) I’m a nerd.
  7. Cautiously optimistic here. I bought Diablo III at launch, went through all the pains, but still had fun with it. Haven't played since... 2014 but I agree, I see the appeal and current Blizzard / Activision micro transactions store fronts are a large deterrent. I only see single player titles on my horizon for this year so far. Resident Evil 4 (stop pretending you won't buy it for the 5th time) The Last of Us Dead Space (wow thats a lot of remakes already)... Calisto Protocol Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Pikmin 4 Starfield Meanwhile I'm slowly grinding through Hogwarts Legacy, I need to finish Elden Ring, and that doesn't even account for my backlog(s)... But you know... another sale... hard to resist dumping more into the log XD
  8. I know a colleague already planning time off in June for this. I’m not invested in Diablo but I get it Hope you enjoy the beta
  9. Update: March 15, 2023. I've edited the 2nd post (embedded sheet / list) to highlight the steam sale schedule for 2023. All dates were announced ahead this year. Steam Spring Sale starts TOMORROW!
  10. @The Pook Update made for Starfield. Globally, the sheet needs more work but made a couple adjustments today. If anyone has comments, just add them to the sheet. Besides, the sheet is meant to supplement the main discussion: Games. I'm at a crossroad for this month. I've never played The Last of Us and just finished the TV series. The PC game comes out in a few weeks... but RE4 Remake comes out first and RE is in my veins. I think I may hold on TLOU...
  11. Yes, but my work flow is atypical. It comes in waves and right now it’s higher than normal. I’ll probably remain incognito for another week but don’t worry, i’ll be back and i’ll update this thread.
  12. Resident Evil 4 (2023) - Chainsaw Demo 4K / Ultra / RT High
  13. Update... Images removed* function updateVideoGameReleaseDate() { // Replace this URL with the URL of the web page where the release date is located. var url = "https://example.com/video-game-release-date"; // Replace this XPath expression with the XPath expression that selects the release date from the web page. var xpath = "//div[@class='release-date']"; var sheet = SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSpreadsheet().getSheetByName("Sheet1"); var cell = sheet.getRange("A1"); var html = UrlFetchApp.fetch(url).getContentText(); var releaseDate = extractReleaseDateFromHtml(html, xpath); if (releaseDate !== cell.getValue()) { cell.setValue(releaseDate); } } function extractReleaseDateFromHtml(html, xpath) { var document = XmlService.parse(html); var root = document.getRootElement(); var namespace = root.getNamespace(); var elements = root.getElements(XmlService.parseXPath(xpath, namespace)); if (elements.length > 0) { return elements[0].getText(); } else { return ""; } } Well would you look at that. I'll see if I can take this thread as a learning exercise in automation...
  14. Yes - I'm particularly interested in where Elder Scrolls goes. I never beat Skyrim but I loved Oblivion. I wouldn't Skyrim is more dumbed down but I do miss the silly things like, the more you jump, the better your jumping skill is. The level of detail, quality / quantity of quests in Skyrim was impressive, to me, compared to past games.
  15. Anyone know how to use AI (ChatGPT) for it to automatically update my google sheet XD
  16. Wow... I surely hope GT7 comes to PC. At least Forza Motorsport (2023) is coming to PC.
  17. Quick update: I'm going to update the data sheet with a new column for "System". That way I can add console games. This thread will default to a Pivot table that filters PC games only. I'll create another thread for console games but it will link the same sheet. Hope that makes sense. TL;DR. One data sheet; two threads. One for PC discussions, one for console discussions.
  18. Metroid Prime: Remastered Nintendo Switch Beyond thrilled that they remastered what I would argue is the greatest video game of all time. It was and will remain my favourite. Highly recommend if you have a Switch.
  19. Let us know how it performs Now that I have a "working" reference cooler, I'm very happy with it. Glad it's not oversized and it can still handle up to 400w within reason (acceptable noise).
  20. The request is valid but it's obviously a complex topic. However, there are certainly some red flags that catch my eye. This article wraps it up nicely: Questions remain over Atomic Heart developer's Russian origins WWW.EUROGAMER.NET As the release of sci-fi shooter Atomic Heart nears, numerous questions around the project remain - which its developer… I'm not sure if the platforms have to comply but the question remains: are there any sanctions that directly ban the sale Russian funded software (video games)? Even if we all agree that the developers are nice people with good intensions, just follow the $.
  21. I've started to really fill up the list and came across Phantom Brigade. Different scope / style of game but it's a Mech RPG / Strategy game. Might be up your alley and comes out next week. There is a demo too. https://store.steampowered.com/app/553540/Phantom_Brigade/
  22. Still inputting data but I've added a Pivot Table in the second tab, so you can consolidate and tabulate the data.
  23. I'm a little skeptical but I will try to keep an open mind. Last trailer (gameplay) didn't really excite me as much as I thought it would.
