  1. First version of the leaderboard is up. I also have two z820s to throw in the mix maybe I will fire them up tomorrow. I coded the teams, obviously intel is blue and AMD is red. And any other red or highlighted option indicates an exceptional result. @Avacado Does leaving the e cores active yield lower benchmark scores here? I know that was happening in the ycruncher/punisher thread
  2. Taken from HP's website: The HP Z820 has 16 DIMM Slots supporting DDR3 ECC Memory. The Z820 is a dual processor workstation with excellent liquid cooling from the factory The first generation Z820 using the Xeon Sandy-Bridge processor supports 1333MHz memory. The second generation Z820 using the Xeon Ivy-Bridge processor supports up to 1866MHz memory. This machine supports octal channel memory with two CPUs installled. Since I am using the unlocked Xeon, the 1680 v2, unfortunately I can only run 4 channel because it doesnt have a second QPI link. The plan is to maximize system performance across the board. I will be running 4 SSDs in a raid 0 configuration/ Also overclocking. The best way to do that would be using throttlestop as there is no path to OC from the bios. My only compromise here is apparently throttle stop will allow you to control the multiplier but not core voltage, so I am still not sure how I am going to work my way around that as it will really limit my OC ceiling. Starting next month. Will update thread with pictures later. The HP z820 is very innovative in the sense that it is completely tool less. And it has a sick cooling system. Also I have a 1125 watt PSU for this build. Gen I systems: Will have a Boot Block Date of 12/28/2011 (sandy bridge ONLY) Gen II systems: Will have a Boot Block Date of 03/06/2013 (Ivy bridge) Beastly motherboard;
  3. Really sick build bro. You seem to have a good eye for catchy parts as well. That is something I've been wanting to do with my Athlon XP 3000+ chip (Barton core). As that was the first one that really inspired me to start overclocking.

Just run a quick bench with CPUz and if we get enough interest, I will start a leader board. Go ahead and follow the outline and layout below. Feel free to include additional information about your system/OC You can compete for single core or all core or both.
  5. This is the best of both worlds. Im inside by the wood stove and I have lines running under the garage door so the entire computer is outside and I'm nice and warm inside the house.
  6. The chiller has been pretty effective today If you are wondering why my chiller is so effective... lol its half frozen (these images are from imgbb as well so they might not work until I go back later and manually copy and paste them into the thread)

One of my side topics of interest are nuclear reactors, so that was what prompted me in the first place, as some nuclear reactors are actually cooled by liquid metal and it is extremely effective, and known as the "ultimate" coolant. I want to get a few things straight so you guys don't think I've gone off the deep end: 1) This is a long term project - It will likely take at least 6 months to a year to design and build and impliment what I am envisioning. 2) This is not practical in any sense of the word - I find it very intriguing, however, and I have a very curious mind, so yes, while early on it will be experimental, I do eventually hope to come up with a liquid metal cooling "solution" that perhaps could be developed into a real product for overclocking enthusiasts. 3) This is not going to be cheap. Gallium costs about $100 for a 1/2 cup, to put things in perspective. 4) This is totally experimental for the moment, but I think I can make it work, and if I do I will try to come up with a kit or formula that other hardcore OC people can buy and implement themselves. 5) This will be a great covid project as I dont see us coming out of this pandemic anytime soon lol
