    update: downloaded and introduced myself to Avatar (thanks again, @Slaughtahouse). initial impression: it's actually pretty good, will see if I can get some screen caps next week. Fyi/fwiw at this point: runs very well on a 4090, around 400watts at full tilt (great visuals at 4K); additional computer specs: 13900K stock, 64GB 6400 memory, Asus z790 Apex (1st version). That was using a Keyboard; haven't tried a controller yet.

    Same here, bought the ESD version back in 2021; though I'm not sure there's any real difference between that and the non ESD version besides the markup they get for the ESD strap in the ESD version. Works great for blowing out just about any filters too (like those used in bag less hepa canister filters, power tool dust collection, etc.) and just about anything you have a mind to stick it into.

    Again, thanks! I'm gonna give it a go after Xmas—I do have an Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2. ...and thanks for those tips! I'll make a series of screen caps at some point and share them in the 2024 games thread.

    Me, fwiw, I'm okay with avatars the way they currently are here and see no need for change; but I also realize a number of things about avatar design and their use, as well as how the plethora of user types out there might feel about them in general. Anyway, that said, if you want to have some fun with a special type of avatar called identicons, also see (e.g.) Dicebear's identicon generator. An example follows using it (no attributions are implied by the following example):

    should be somewhat obvious given your current avatar... that said, more info here (about avatars in the Invision platform; a mixed bag) lastly, the round vs. square avatar thing is a function of the theme in use. in the following example, I have commented out the rounding of the avatar image in the theme's stylesheet:

    Tough one, I like a number of his flicks; but it's Aliens for me. Why? Because I saw it in a movie theater full of grunts at the Army Kaserne in Augsburg, Germany, back in 1986. Never experienced a more enthusiastic crowd... Oh, and it had Bill Paxton (aka Hudson, R.I.P., Bill) in it as well!
