I believe @PCSarge looked at the 140mm SW4's in his review here: https://reviews.extremehw.net/all-reviews/bequiet-silent-wings-pro-4-review/

Yes, true, appreciate and like the review. But its not the information im looking for..

I know im looking for a needle in a ocean... Too specific, I get it,  but im kind of missing the point of all reviews so far. While in every CPU/GPU you get a comparison included to the predecessor: 10900K vs 11900K, 11900K vs 12900K and so on.... Same with GPUs. In my eyes this logic, makes sense, as well with the fans or anything which is "Evolved" ...  Just for the sake to show its an "Evolution" not "Devolution" .... or am I having a wrong conclusion/expectation? 🤔😅

Multiple Questions came to my mind as i saw the news about the new Silent Wings 4 (PRO):

1, Will it outperform the predecessor?

2, Will it improve the temps in my PC?

3, if yes and yes - will it be enough to replace the old with new?

If im looking at it form the wrong perspective, then please correct me...

    Thank you very much. :happy_innocent1:

Ha, well I guess they could go that route. If they do, I will consider EHW the original cause of inspiration and we can all walk away rich 😛

Ha, hope you got some good lawyers in your contacts 🙂 its not a question IF but WHEN it will happen...

Its kind off  sad that we now laughing at it but we know that the sh.t hits the fan sooner or later :misc_rain:

Could be BeQuiet phased out the SW3s because there was a problem with using the pwm versions with AquaComputer Aquaeros.

SW3 fans were originally designed by BeQuiet to be used with their cases, which included additional circuitry to "pull up" the pwm signals applied to them to 5 volt levels  (you couldn't control pwm SW3s using the Aquaero unless you added additional circuitry to raise pwm signal levels to 5V; a similar issue was experienced using pwm pumps with the Aquaero).  This was determined by IT DIVA on OCN, and she eventually designed an addon circuit that provided properly spec'd pullup resistance.

There's a rabbit hole for all that which begins right about here, back in 2014:

    https://www.overclock.net/threads/pwm-d5-pump.1473190/#post-21971680

Anyway, AquaComputer eventually added similar circuitry to the SPLITTY9 Active and QUADRO products, which helped mitigate the problem down the road.

that's interesting... exactly what i use 😄😄  Will for sure investigate a bit further... Thank you very much for that information, had no clue about that!

But back to my original request:

    - are there any comparisons / tests / reviews?  Anyone? Would a upgrade make sense/improve the setup?

    Many thanks.

Rent VRAM? While possible in a virtualized environment, if it was possible physically Nvidia would jump on it lol.

Hmmm i do believe they find a way to do it same as with Tesla cars - Pay for an update of the driver  and you unlock the full amount of Vram on your card...  OFC you have to pay for the "update" / upgrade... Or lets call it "Latest optimization" or Support for the latest games... Same "modus operandi" has for example Aida64 🤔

I just hope they are not getting inspired by this conversation lol... :velo: 😅

OR it'll be like the 1060 fiasco with your choice of ram and a different gpu on each version..... Oh, you wanted the gpu with the full amount of cuda cores and tensor cores? U should have bought the card with the higher memory! BUT! We can lease you more cores with a bios upgrade that gets ck'd every 24 hours to make sure your license is current. 🙂 1 kidney and 1 lung for a 3 year license......

would expect more for my kidney 😄😄 😄

  6. Dont you have the feeling that it will go as well one day to the subscription business model? You buy a GPU and you are an lucky owner BUT "Oh you want as well that your fans on it spin? Well that costs extra - just for 50 Cent/month each fan and the first 2 months are for free"  😄😄😄

At least is this approach tested in Automotive in china 🙄

  7. To all 🙂

im having a bit a problem to find any test, reviews or comparisons of the Be Quiet Silent Wings 3 vs the Silent Wings 4 and Silent Wings 4 PRO in the 140mm version. There are some information's about the 120mm versions but not the 140mm. Im  using the Silent wings 3 140mm as intake fans on the front and was wondering if there would be any gain with the new ones or just burned money?

As well i got kinda surprised that you will not find the Silent Wings 3 on their official page - feels like "we get rid of the history":sozo: lol..... I know you can find the data separate and glue it together but would be nice to see them in a direct comparison in the same environment (case, conditions ect..)

let me know if you found anything and please share.

    Thank you very much!

Definitely still bugs but it's pretty playable. I only got into it recently so I couldn't tell you how much better it is now. I still have no idea what I'd doing though, total noob.

its the best way to play - not knowing what your doing and having it as a part of discovery creates many "heureka" moments which is pleasant 😉

Very nice. GPU is super quiet, can finally get a vsync locked 60FPS in wildlands (even a 3090 can't do that)

Very happy with it so far.

    Congrats!

To be honest im a bit jealous as im fighting my inner Daemon and trying to convince him and my self that i dont need an upgrade now .. :buttkick:

Having the XFX 6900 XT and as well happy with the card. But from the reviews i saw so far its basically the hotest (highest temps - but the design is hot) from all the AIB models which kinda surprised me... IDK what your plan is with it, if you gonna WC it or keep it on air - but if you write the customer support they give you the information of the thickens of every thermal pad there. Did it last year and this year finally ordered the pads.. have to replace the pads (or better i want to see if i can get more out of the cooler. And as it has a copper plate i can just recommend to repaste it with LM. It dropped my HotSpot temps by 10-12 degrees on stock XFX cooler on air.... you can push it more or get it even quieter and chilled 😉  If you do anything just share some pics and results - would be interested 🙂

Also wanted to ask for a longer time now, there are so few AIB models out there with the 7900XTX - are there planned to be any other models to come?

Dust problem can be solved with

You cut it and put it in front of your intakes. On a lot of cases you can put it directly behind the front panel. Wear gloves.

Thanks for the recomendation but to be honest, been on this road before and its just a trade of for higher temps and rpm on fans. I took out what i could to make it airflow friendly as possible.  I radher invested the money in the DataVac and once in a month i just blow the dust out…  in the end everyone has to decide for them self :hair_afro:

Yes the corners are made of silicone so the paint chipped off (was a bit naïve here:confused_frusty2:) and could as well cover with scotch tape the back labeling but forgot it... Anyway im ok with the result...

    Finally the installation..:wheee:

Now to the analytics: With 45 min. Folding@Home both CPU and GPU.

    Before :

    modedfirstsettingatempt2beforeGPUbackfan.thumb.PNG.c80d00b8b1c6a45007c23c6be6333b49.PNG

    CPU package MAX: 76 C

    GPU Hotspot MAX:  65 C

    DIMMS MAX: 37.3 C

    M2 SSD: 50 C

Now with the installed new HW:

    CPU package MAX: 74 C

    GPU Hotspot MAX:  64 C

    DIMMS MAX: 36.3 C

    M2 SSD: 40 C

The main gain is here the M2SSD - with -10 C on the max temp.. Got a difference as well on the CPU by -2 C and DIMMS -1 C.... But could be the tolerance in measurements so not rly a prove of a big improvement..  Will test it a bit further in some Gaming sessions and report back... As well waiting for the new design of the "straightener's" ...  Let me know if you have any advice to improve or idea to try out 😉

    Thanks..

I know we're not making more merch for a while, but I wanted to let you all know that I read a few tutorials and learned how to do glitch art effects (are these still cool? Lol). These could possibly be done to the logo and other graphics or text. They could also be done to any banners for advertising foldathons on social media. Etc. Examples:

    bridgettglitch.thumb.png.d107b7b6761ac287f86fd63ce4837c42.png

I would say yes the glitch art effect is still a thing same as “cyberpunk” is still a thing … at least my opinion and the secong picture is exactly “cyberpunk” style….:char_alien:

I like the second version better. Have to say this is a really cool project. You could easily market those on Amazon.

well could be but the design is not mine and i just downloaded it and used it to get it printed. But the original thought of this was as an cover for the back exhaust fan to use it as intake and get some cool air to the VRM of an water-cooled setup..

here the Link to it  there are as well some pictures. And to be honest with an printing time of 8h I'm not sure if it would pay out in the end 🙂

I agree with Pook, possibly raise the divider and angle it some so as to take advantage of 1 more open slot and second front fan.

Another idea would be to put a short angled shroud facing the back on the BACK TOP fan and have it be an exhaust also. That would give you 6 intake and 3 exhaust fans along with the passive exhaust slots.(I think.)

Also, maybe add something like this with the suggested 3 pin power to molex  adapter that allows speed control?

StarTech.com Expansion Slot Rear Exhaust Cooling Fan with LP4 Connector - PC Case Exhaust Fan/Video Card Cooler Fan - System...

Cheaper on Amazon and that's where I saw the suggestions for the adaptor. 🙂

Exactly what i thought could be improved, i just thought about an different solution. As there should be enough space for an 90mm fan i ordered the  Thermalright TL-B9 should be delivered soon and lets see if makes any difference, but what I'm expecting from it, is an better ventilated backplate of the GPU and this way would less heat be going up to the CPU and RAM cooler... If it will make any real difference i will measure as soon i get it delivered 🙂.

Anyway next week Monday should be send to me the second model in 2 variants so im looking forward to test them ... And as well have to test the "Case split" recommended by @The Pook

It pains me to see people STILL recommend EK after all these years. There are so many other block manufacturers that consistently deliver without risking materials.

EK: Just use copper. Stop trying to nickel plate it and for Pete's sake don't nickel plate aluminum...

Well what we mostly see in RL is "Marketing" knowledge vs "Real" knowledge of any problematic.... People tend to read the marketing materials and claiming it as real facts, just because its faster and easier.. And as well marketing doing a good job so... Anyway as told it speaks for its self...🙄
