Gigabyte Aorus 1080Ti (normal or Xtreme) - Which headers are fan?

Recommended Posts

Looking to remove the shroud and replace with 2 120mm fans, trying to figure out if there is an un-used fan header (#2) or if #1 is the only one. The other 3 are LED (90% sure from an old GN teardown)

#1 is the standard connector for the stock 3-fan daisy chain from the GN tear-down, but I haven't been able to find any info on if #2 is fan or LED.

Going to be using the EK 4-pin fan-->GPU adaptor (2x if both are fan) or daisy chain the fans and connect both to #1 if not.

Possibly harder question... IF they're both fan, would both control the same way in afterburner?

I'd assume it's another fan

Assuming so too. Likely uses the same control then too?

Can't imagine it would work any other way.

It looked like it's not used in the teardown you posted, it must be an extra fan plug for a slight different model or just different fan config. Most likely the two fans are daisy chained and both connect to the PCB via the same fan plug but I would imagine there are also some versions that use two fans that both plug directly into the PCB.
