Can I replace a Realtek 8821CE with a Intel AX201NGW & What antenna's do they take?

I want to replace the network adapter and add high gain antennas to my mini pc, so i wanted to make sure it will work and needed to know the antenna type specification so i know what to look up.

Thanks

The Intel Chip is NGFF Key E. So long as the slot on the motherboard supports that, you should be fine. Also assuming this is going in a Laptop, that laptop will already have Antennae cables, you can re-use those as the connection points are a set standard so far as I recall.

Thanks.  Well since the REALTEK RTL8821CE only has 1 antenna connection, my Mini PC only has 1 antenna.  So I need to buy some high gain antennas.  I found these, and I hope they will work.  I checked the dimensions of my mini pc and the dimensions of the antenna's and i think they will fit.

Interesting, looks like the connection for the Antenna does actually differ, you learn something new everyday!

Good luck with your testing 🙂

So, I'm at this again.  Is IPEX UFL compatible with IPEX MHF4?

This answered my question : If your device is for 5G applications, IPEX MHF4 is the type for you. However, if yours are for WiFi, 3G or 4G use, U.FL types are the most common ones.

MHF1 is compatible with HRS standard U.FL cable assembly, but MHF 4L is not compatible with HRS standard U.FL. If your device is for 5G applications…

The AX201 is CNVio2. So it will not work on an AMD system. AX200 or AX210 for AMD.

I guess i am a bit late. 🙂

So will it work on my device you think?  I hear some of these Intel wifi cards only support Intel chipset?

Should I get a Realtek AX card instead like this one?

The Realtek RTL8852BE Wifi 6 adapter?

Premium Platinum

The AX201 is Intel only. However it is also dependent on the CPU as well. It won't work on every Intel platform. Because CNVio2 isn't compatibie with the older CVNio standard.

Basically avoid Intel cards that end with a 1. AX201/211/411 will not work with AMD. AX200/210 will work with AMD.

I would recommend AX200 wifi6 or AX210 wifi6e. Which should work with any platform. 6e is backwards compatible with 6.

I got the RTL8852BE in & the antenna leads are smaller than the RTL8821CE.  What is the specification for smaller than RTL8821CE?

Looks like the 8821CE uses this connector

Ant. conn: U.FL

This is what I found :

  • Chipset: Realtek RTL8852BE
  • Antenna: 2 x IPEX MHF4 connectors, 2T2R
  • Interface: PCIe: WLAN
  • Output Power up to 19dBm
  • Support: Windows/Linux/Android

Will this antenna work?

I finally got my antennas and the RTL8852BE Wifi 6 ax adapter and man the signal strength is so nice & the speeds I'm getting are so freakin fast compared to before it's amazing.

Thanks for all the help!

What's the max throughput of this adapter by the way in Mbps (mega bits per second)?
