Taiwan is a semiconductor chip powerhouse — so much so, that two industry bigwigs with roots from the island are actually family.

It has recently emerged that Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and AMD CEO Lisa Su are first cousins once removed, with 60-year-old Huang being the older cousin.

The ties between Huang and Su are particularly interesting because Nvidia and AMD are both major US chipmakers with competing products, including in the artificial intelligence space.

You didn't need scientists to "research" this. It was on google feeds years ago when Su was appointed CEO. Ayymd too had meme's. Slow news say maybe for BI.

It never was. It was somewhat highly publicized when Su became CEO circa '17. AMD's subR had newspieces about it. I just don't get why now after all these years, again.

Thank you for sharing this with me.

It poor journalism on their part.

CNN story don't even match up with the reddit/overclocker post date.

The connection was first acknowledged by Su in 2020, and more recently, has been fleshed out in detail by Jean Wu, a Taiwanese genealogist.
