I have a customer right now doing some upgrades to his PC who is actual a pilot and uses the PC pretty much just for flight Sim. 

 

How much of a difference would 16GB vs 32GB of system ram make? 

 

How about Vram?

32GB does make a surprising difference over 16GB. I'd recommend 16GB as minimum.

VRAM depends on resolution. I've got 8GB at 4K and it seems fine, but more would be better.

With more games (including MSFS 2020) suggesting r_BAR and forced r_BAR works for others, I would definitely suggest the minimum system RAM at 32 GB (I'm running 2x 24 = 48GB DDR5). MSFS 2020 hammers one CPU core particularly hard and the reason why AMD X3D are top performers with MSFS2020 is the extra cache which in turn benefits from being fed by lots of fast system memory.

Dune's ornithopter at night in Finland --- sometimes upside-down...but no matter what the orientation, super-smooth at 4K max w/4090, 7950X3D and DDR5 8200...CPU sips power, GPU guzzles it...

...had a little break in posting in this thread - that is because I updated my 'gamer' and its cooling system, Honeywell PTM7950 phase-change pads on both the new Alphacool C1 Aurora CPU block and the Giga-G-OC / HoF bios / Bykski block. I also updated the housing of the system in prep for a 3-mobo setup . Finally, flushed the whole loop (3x D5, 3x 480 x 64 triple-core rads rads. The loop took about 4.25 liters of deionized water, along with a few drops of biocide.

 

I very highly recommend the PTM 7950 for both CPU and GPU...excellent temps, including hotspot deltas of approximately 8 C for the 4090.

I really need a gpu to try this. Must be wonderfull on the oled.  My uhd 770 probably can pull 5 fps at 720p haha.

 

My laptop could probably run it fine tho.

... you really should try this; it is such a joy !   A 3080 Ti / 3090 / 6800 / 6900 gets you into some decent fps for 1440 (slower for 4K) but 4090 is gangbusters at 4K120 OLED and with the extra features the 4090 gets. That plus 7950X3D is all that I need for now, besides, that combo also works great on CP2077 Ultra.

If they can release the damn 5070 so we can see if we get 20gb + vram and 4090 performance haha.

Those vram chip probably cost more than my car

As posted elsewhere, updated game settings for my favs: MSFS 2020 and CP 2077 U/PL...MSFS 2024 coming in November with 'ideal system specs' that include 64 GB of RAM...
