  2. Hello all, I just wanted to take a moment to Thank You All for the work you have put into the community, whether this be from a staff or user level. Without your help and continued dedication to the site, we would not be where we are now. We still have some growing to do, no doubt, but I personally enjoy coming on here daily and checking to see what's new, or just following continued discussions. Discussion forums have a hard time of it these days with the growth of social media services but it is my firm opinion that forums/sites are still THE staple of quality information on the internet. We have an excellent group of people here and I feel sometimes I do not thank you all enough and I wanted to assure you that all your efforts on a daily basis is noticed. I am proud of all that you have accomplished here on ExtremeHW and I am certainly looking forward to seeing what the future brings for both our forums and our reviews. As always, spread the word, bring your family and friends here, don't be selfish and keep it all to yourselves I also wanted to throw out an additional thank you to all those who have purchased a premium account, donate to the site and purchase from our merch store. This really helps us with the costs of running the platform, paying for private dev work as well as purchasing any add-ons that enhance the users experience. Thank you! All the best, E

  3. Hello all. Today I received notification from Verticalscope that my services are no longer required at Overclock.net. This was a long time coming as Verticalscope since the acquisition of the site has slowly but surely consolidated the site in all respects, including the gradual removal of Staff which included The_Manual, which happened a little while back. So from this point onwards, there will be no OG management and all management tasks will fall to VS staff directly or they will put in place someone unfamiliar. Any of the existing moderators/staff will now have to look to VS for any support. I will not be staying on at OCN in any capacity, while I could volunteer, I feel my time with the site has come to its end as it is no longer a site I am passionate about and the community ethos, in my humble opinion has been lost. My time with OCN since 2004 under the original ownership/leadership was THE golden era and I'm happy and incredibly privileged to have been a part of the journey. I look back to the golden years with many fond memories of achievements had by myself and others as well as the genuine sense of "community" that OCN fostered. OCN was the "Right place at the right time" for me. I was at a stage in life that was really difficult and being a part of the community at that time was the positivity I needed to grow and overcome some obstacles, for that I will be forever thankful. During my time I have gained life long friends to whom I have been in contact with now for many years, for the most part I have never met any of you in person, but you guys are my community, regardless of the sites name. This is the wonderful thing about the internet, friendships can span globally! What I have learned during my tenure with OCN during the golden era was invaluable and the experience gained has helped to nurture my own growth, personally and professionally. My time with OCN towards the latter days illustrated to me that I could start my own adventure, hence EHW. I have been thankful that the familiar crowd I have come to know as friends have also decided to hang out with me here on EHW, cant be luckier really! So, that is it as they say. I guess I will take a stroll to the OCN retirement beach and join the others at long last All the best, E

  4. Hello all, It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to move on from ExtremeHW and community management. I have made this decision based on a few reasons. 1. Motivation/Time 2. Health 3. Fresh Start Firstly, my focus in life has changed. While I still love all the same things concerning technology, PC’s and overclocking/tweaking, my motivations are now aimed towards other life projects/goals. This has not happened suddenly and is something I have been fighting with for months now as to what I should do regarding a balance between EHW and the rest of my goals/life, but I must bite the bullet and do what is best for myself and the community and realise that I cannot have my cake and eat it. Secondly, health. Like many people I struggle with mental health and anything I can do to reduce workload & stress will be beneficial for my quality of life moving forward. This is nothing new as I have struggled for many years but as I am getting older, I am getting wiser as to what is best for me. Thirdly, I have been in this game since I was 15 years of age with respect to being heavily engaged with community activities, to site management and eventually to the ownership of my own site. The journey has been awesome, despite any challenges or sad times along the way. I feel that after 20 years I have achieved what I wanted to, but it is time to start a new chapter. My aim for the community is to find a new private owner, or possibly groups of owners who will have the right qualities for moving this site forward and growing the community. So, what now? Well rest assured that ExtremeHW will remain operational, and ultimately for you, the user, nothing will be changing up until the time new ownership takes over. If you are interested in stepping into my shoes, becoming the next owner of ExtremeHW and starting a new chapter for the community, please feel free to PM me on the site or use the sites Contact Form to learn how and what is involved. All the best, E

  6. Well, it's been a fun year of doing what I could to help out, but I'm calling it quits for a final time. With life dealing a lot of challenges to me going forward, I'll be unable to designate any time to this forum, and I've requested account deletion. I do not want to participate in any web forums going forward, and I'm going to need all of my time to care for my family, and my sick Mother & Sister. Thank you for the good memories. I hope you all continue to support Enterprise and EHW going forward.

  7. Hello all, This is a friendly reminder that my door is always open with respect to any concerns or grievances any of you may have this can include: - The site, features, possible bugs & anything else technical related. - Members - Maybe a member shouldn't be doing something, or they are causing some unnecessary friction. - Actions taken by moderators (on the forums or Discord). - Management - Perhaps management including myself has caused a concern. The above is not an exhaustive list, but you get the idea. Ultimately, if you do not report a problem, I cannot help. So please speak up While I cannot always promise to resolve a situation, I will do my best to find a way forward. The best way to get my attention will be via direct PM. While I do my best to catch @mentions whether on the forums or Discord it is possible I will miss them and have very much done so in the past. Thanks, E

  8. Hi everyone! I'm @neurotix's partner. Long time lurker first time posting. I used to be on OCN as well, but stopped after someone thought I was just my partner giving him rep since we were on the same ip at home. I don't do the benching or whatnot but I'm Joes hands for building rigs. Anyway, happy to be here (willingly lol, Joe signed me up on Firefox since the captcha doesn't work on mobile). Contrary to popular belief Joe has positive things to say about you all so happy to be here. -B

  9. Hello all, We are nearing the holiday period and I wanted to take a moment to wish you all the very best and I hope you all enjoy whatever it is you will be getting up to this year. Most of all, stay safe. As per usual, I imagine I will be doing some relaxing while eating far too much and enjoying a little tipple here and there. A big thank you to all our members for being a part of the community whether it be frequent flyers, lurkers or those joining for our competitions, it is great to have your participation. A huge thanks to all our members of position on the site that help with the running of EHW one way or another, your help and continued dedication is highly appreciated and continues to make the community more enjoyable for all. As always, a big thanks to all those who donate towards the site whether it be a donation or purchasing a premium account, this is a HUGE help towards the running costs and general upkeep of the site. All donations received go directly into the site pot and will always be put into the site and the membership in one form or another. We are still working on the site becoming a self sustaining entity, which includes our move towards Google ads as well as the expansion of the site merchandise which we will progress with further as time goes by. In early 2024 I hope to launch some of the new site merch as discussed HERE. I was hoping to have this done late 2023 but this has not been possible, sorry for the delay on this but more news on this as soon as I have it. 2024 will also see the move towards seeking site sponsorships, but this is something that will be developed in 2024 as this is very much theoretical at this point. Finally, I look forward to seeing you all during the holiday period and in the new year. Lets keep our fingers crossed for an excellent 2024 for us all. All the best, E

  10. Some numbers: 7500+ views on this thread. 7600+ Work Units completed in 4 days by 58 forum members, about half of them newcomers. It took multiple brains to pull this event off. I'd like to give a shout out to @Avacado for the idea, @axipher for without your score cards these things would not be possible, @ENTERPRISE for giving us plenty enough rope, @bonami2 for helping me advertise this thing, and @neurotix for without your banners we wouldn't have looked legitimate. Thanks to W1zzard at TPU for graciously allowing me to advertise this, repeatedly bump the thread, and recruit your folders. You guys were great. Thanks to @CoolGTX for giving me leeway at EVGA forum when I'm sure I looked like a nobody. I'm glad you and a couple of other members made it here. Thanks to LTT, Guru3D, HWBOT, and F@H forums and discords for allowing my spam. Again I'm happy some of you made it here to join in the fun. Thanks to EXTREMEHW forum for putting up with me as folding team lead when I'm still so green (only 2 years folding). Thanks to @BWG for mentoring me and eventually passing me the torch. @zodac you also taught me so much in a short amount of time. @firedfly I continuously rely in your knowledge. Thanks to our sponsors for being so generous. I worked specifically with EVGA Jacob for this and he is just a cool dude. Thanks @mmcdonald12 for not minding me running up our power bill to do this. You're always supportive of my hobbies -Luke

  11. Hello all. I wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a happy holiday period and a happy new year. I hope you will all be able to relax during this time and get suitably (but safely) merry. 2022 has been a big year so far as getting the site where it needs to be from a software perspective. We still have lots of work to do to attract more people to the site, which will be one of the primary focuses for next year. Another focus will be trying to make the competitions more enticing so far as prizing, if not on an a monthly basis, then semi regular. Lastly, Site ads. Due to my schedule it has been hard to focus on getting ads set up correctly. They were working during a test period a while ago, but need to investigate the issue. With the ads active, this will hopefully increase site revenue which can be put towards competition prizing or other site ventures. 2023 will no doubt be an exciting year and im looking forward to taking the community further with your help! A huge thanks to all the staff and users who help to run the events and review programmes, without you, we would be lost. So a special thank you to you all. Have fun an stay safe! E P.s, don't forget to show off any techy stuff you get!

  12. Hello all, So it is that time of year again where we are rushing round at work to get those last minuet things out the way, gift shopping and stocking up the kitchen ready for the overindulgence. I hope you all have a very happy holiday period and life permitting, I hope you are all able to join your families over this period. I have been trying to work from home where possible to avoid catching anything nasty and having to deal with it over the holiday period as spending time with others would be rather nice. 2021 has been an interesting year to say the least. Since our launch, it has been a bumpy road for a few reasons, but 2021 saw us move over to our new platform (Invision Community) which has allowed us to branch out in the way we wanted to. We have most of the "Core" features in place that I personally would expect from a tech community. Lots of work has gone into the site this year and 2022 will see more work being done but more in the sense of marketing, promotions, and competitions. Though of course I am sure we will see a thing or two from a features perspective. The last two+ years has been a real learning curve so far as finding correct platform and seeking out the right guys for the right job, so far as our server admin, software dev and SEO team. Fortunately I am confident in saying that I have found a nice little team which is imperative to the continued and smooth running of the site. Since mid-December we have been working on SEO for the site. This includes a complete audit of both sites (Forum & Review), this is a relatively long process, and we will not have finished the groundwork for this until the end of Jan/Mid Feb. Once the groundwork is complete, there will be more tinkering undertaken as SEO is an always ongoing beast. The goal of course is to make sure that we have the best and most appropriate exposure possible. SEO takes a while to take hold, so approx. Jan 2023 we would look to evaluate our position once again. It has been great to see you guys utilize the site and its features. I love seeing all the questions, news topics and interactions within the community, it certainly gives me a buzz. I want to thank all of you for joining us on EHW and being a part of the family. Fingers crossed that next year we can build the ranks. On a semi related note, I want to thank all of those who have joined our Folding@Home team. It is no doubt that in the last year you guys have been SMASHING it. I have no doubt much of the same will come in 2022 and hopefully we can entice some others to join the cause. All in all, a huge thanks to all who make the community what it is, and I hope you all have a great holiday season. Please stay safe and I look forward to seeing you in 2022. Feel free to share what goodies you get this year All the best, Kim

  13. Thank you @ENTERPRISE. It is our pleasure to continue the site, we can't let the place die. It needs to continue going as expected, and grow. So let's see if we can't make that happen within a year or two.

  14. Hello all, Related to the Topic laying out my departure from the site and some of the struggles noted in finding a new owner, I have decided that auctioning the site and its associated assets is the next logical step. Below I will outline the relevant information so that all those that enter a bid, are fully aware of all the facts before doing so. What is included in the auction *ExtremeHW Community Forum *ExtremeHW Review Site *ExtremeHW Etsy Store *ExtremeHW Discord *ExtremeHW Socials (Facebook & X) *ExtremHW YouTube Channel *All Artwork Assets (Site Graphics/Social Media & Homepage Exposure Etc) *All Document Assets *All Custom Plugin Development *All Relationships Between ExtremeHW and Vendors *All Relationships Between ExtremeHW and Developers *All Service Logins *All Google Workspace Assets (Gdrive, Email Inboxes Etc) Minimum monthly cost of running the sites Dedicated Server Rental - $133.86 (Contractual agreement ends May 2025) Invision Community Suite - $17 ** Cloudflare - $25 Google Workspace - $47.77 Domain - $2.19 ** Font Awesome Pro - $8.25 ** ** Services that are billed annually but broken down monthly for clarity. For those who are less savvy or disinterested with respects to all things Server and Cloudflare management you can optionally retain the services of my server manager for an additional cost of $75 per month and includes the below. - General server management including but not limited to, Proactive care, Configurations, Software Updates, Security, Backups, Troubleshooting + More - Cloudflare management. (Web Access Firewall & Performance Optimization) This would leave you with managing the community only, which is the route I took to spare my time. **NOTE** The above costs can be value engineered by the new owner. The above details costs to keep the site online and does not include optional custom development/plugin upgrades. All information pertaining to optional costs will be detailed to the winner. Current Site Income/Stats If you wish to discover the sites income/stats please inquire via PM. Included help and support I will provide help and support via myself or another with respects to the running of the site if required. Taking on a site can come with questions and I am not going to abandon a new owner and leave them to struggle as this would be unfair. Support will be included but not limited to the below examples. *Support with gaining familiarity with the ExtremeHW platforms, Invision Community & Wordpress. *Support with backend management. This would include the integral services required for the running of the site including Server Management, Cloudflare Etc. *Any questions the new owner may have regarding the sites and related services. This is not included as part of the auction, but more of a gesture to make a transition as smooth as possible. How to submit a bid & deadline Please submit your highest bid to me via PM in US Dollars. If your bid has been beaten, you will be informed so that you can decide if you wish to increase your bid. The starting bid is set at $1000 (USD). **NOTE** Bidders will be PRIVATE.. I ask that you only bid if you are SERIOUS about taking on the community and its associated services. Winning bid is final once funds are transferred to the current owner. All sales are final and refunds will not be given under any circumstances. Bids will be accepted up until January 1st. The highest bidder at that time will be contacted and an announcement made in due course. Questions If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask via the topic or PM. If I feel the query should be answered privately, I will contact you via PM. All the best, E

  15. There's a couple guys selling a whole bunch of these old server cards on ebay. They are listed as buy-it-now for like $70-80, but one guy took my offer of $60 shipped. Not too bad since I sold an actual Vega 64 for $200 a couple months back. These server cards only have Linux drivers, but can be used with Windows if you flash it to WX9100, which also gives you output on the mini-display port. Thanks to a few guys at techpowerup for this idea. These cards have no fans, meant for high rpm server chassis fans to blow through. I saw some 3D printed adapters, but I happen to have a cheap universal water block I'm mounting. Going to need a little bit of metal cutting to get it to fit! Had to cut out that tab on the base plate. Also that heat pipe was just laying there, not soldered or anything so I coated the backside with MX-4. Cheap ebay GPU block fit the Vega die exactly. Looks like the tubes will have enough room. I wanted to keep the base plate because it keeps the VRMs cooled. I reused the stock thermal pads since they were in good condition. Base plate also connects the back plate. Looks good enough like this but I wonder if the shroud cover will also fit back on? Yes just had to trim the aluminum. I need to sand down the edges and put some black polish on there. So this is how it will look. Going to get it running this week on one of my folding benches.

  16. We're a riff-raff haven here. Apparently some forums thought we were too greasy and dirty and deleted my invitation posts for the event. W1zzard at TPU was quite helpful though. That guy knows what's up. Shoutout to LTT, Guru3D, EVGA forum, f@h forum, HWBOT, and anyone else that didn't delete my spam!

  18. EVGA very recently locked their forums to read-only, so you'll likely see a few of us come over from there. I've had an account here for a while, but rarely used it.. at least until now. This is my EVGA forum sidebar. Nostalgia for me after almost 16 years.

  19. It looks like this is the final folding blowout for EXTREMEHW. I need to go ahead and say a few words. First of all, this site has been a blast for me. I'm thankful for @ENTERPRISE inviting me here from overclock.net. Thanks to @BWG for getting me, just an enthusiast overclocker, interested in some crazy stress test benchmark called folding@home. Thanks to @Avacado @axipher @zodac @firedfly for getting me up to speed on that so I could help take over for BWG as I stumbled and fumbled through the learning. We had some very good foldathons and put up some huge numbers for such a small team. Thanks to EVERYONE who folded with us at EXTREMEHW. Some of you were very dedicated up until the very end, crunching the hell out of some work units. I also had a good time benching with you fellow overclockers on HWBOT. Also as a very small team we put up insane numbers and collected a ton of cups and medals. Where do we go from here? Well I'm still active on the techpowerup.com forums. I plan on folding for them as a regular team member and I plan on joining their hwbot team. I invite all of you to follow me over there, as it's one of the last good PC tech forums still alive. For those heading elsewhere or retiring, I hope we meet again! - Luke

  20. Back in June 2021, I picked up my C1 48 OLED to serve as a work monitor, as a gaming display and even as a secondary 4K TV. Here are some of my thoughts on the long-term use: I use the C1 in tandem with a Philips 40 inch VA workstation panel. First conclusion: It is quite amazing how quickly one gets used to the 48 inch size --- I used to think that 40 inch was 'big', but when viewed right next to the 48 inch OLED, it looks kind of puny...that said, for now I figure 48 inch is the upper limit for a multi-use (including work) monitor... There are two separate PC systems powering the C1 OLED, one with a 6900XT, the other with a RTX 4090, though the RTX 4090 is the primary source for the C1. It can easily 'max' the 4K 120 Hz even in more complex apps, such as CP 2077 (= average fps at 4K Ultra/max > 135) or FS 2020 (= average fps at 4K Ultra/max > 135). Even with 'just' 430W (out of 670W max) with the RTX 4090, fps still average at 120+, often even 1% lows are > 120, what with DLSS3/FI/NVReflex etc That said, the 6900XT also gives a brilliant picture experience with the C1, it is just not as fast as the RTX4090. The aforementioned Philips 40 inch VA panel usually is the 'daily driver' for more regular work-oriented tasks on the 6900XT, but it is nice to have the option to switch over - or use both monitors at the same time (great for some more complex work projects). As with most OLED panels, there always is the question of 'burn-in' of pixels when exposed to the same image segment for longer periods (such as game overlays). Because I was aware of that before I purchased the C1 OLED, I have taken appropriate precautions (in addition to LG's attention via software on this)...this includes moving the Windows taskbar position when doing multiple hours of desktop work on the C1. In any case, I have ZERO burn in on the C1 since I got it in June 2021. I also read that some folks think the HDR nits are lowish in the C1. I actually tried the 'EVO panel hack mod', but either way actually turned down HDR brightness. I do have sensitive eyesight to begin with and love the picture the way I set it (below max nits) - and a key for max enjoyment of any OLED panel is, IMO, positioning - I have zero light sources anywhere facing the OLED screen, and all the non-monitor light sources are at the back. Complaints about the C1 ? My biggest one is the LG software and also remote control - it is unnecessarily 'pushy' and also a source of 'big data' collection. Also, because it is a TV as well and connected to a 4K tv-over-internet, one can get quite easily distracted with the TV option while working, but that is not really a fault of the C1. Likes ? Well, that picture quality...perfect blacks, brilliant colours, ultra-fast response times - what is not to like ? It even serves as a sort of 'ersatz' VR because for gaming, I sit quite close and am quite immersed already in the goings-on. Still, I might try a VR set down the line... For now, I am well beyond 'content', what with all the extra headroom I get with the 4090 / C1 4k/120 combo. To get me to upgrade , it would probably have to be a 48 inch OLED 4K / 240 or 8K 120, but that's is quite a ways off, IMO. Currently, I am in that perfect zone where the RTX4090 with all the latest pic generation tech basically both matches and 'maxes' the C1 capabilities with a bit of extra headroom above and beyond. But who knows - I used to think that 21 inch CRT was a giant (and it did weigh close to 100 pounds...), then, 27 inch monitors had the 'wow - that's big' factor. I wonder what I think about the C1 in 5 years time when I unwrap my 88 inch 8K / 360 Hz

  21. Hey guys, So I thought it would be cool for those who have some EHW merchandise to post up some images of them being worn or used. I will go ahead and start. I was helping my partners sister move in this weekend, it was a hot day, so I thought why not wear my white t-shirt and cap to keep cool and represent! Note that the t-shirt is currently being trialed and will hopefully be available soon for all! Thanks, E

  22. Hello all, It is with great pleasure that we announce the opening of the ExtremeHW Merchandise Store. You can access the store by going to our main menu and browsing to Store -> Merchandise, alternatively you can click the link HERE. As of the launch we have a few products available for purchase that we are looking to increase as time goes on, so this is not the finished store but we feel this is a good starting point. Right now we plan on adding the following next (Subject to availability) Lanyards/Keyrings Hoodies Additional Designs To Existing Products For ease of management we have selected Etsy as our storefront, some of you will undoubtedly be familiar with Etsy, if not, then here is your chance! If you have any questions about the store, please see the FAQ section excerpt as below taken from our Etsy Page, or failing that, please feel free to ask in this topic. A huge thanks goes to the following members for their contributions in making the store possible. @UltraMega @neurotix @Avacado @iamjanco @damric @bonami2 All the best, E

  23. I have a custom docker image that I created and a "startup script" to configure and start folding. However, there is more configuration that needs to be done so you can manually stop folding after completing your last WU before you terminate the instance. I'm hesitant to provided all of the information publicly for fear of people trying it out and having to terminate instances that have been assigned a WU. That just slows down the science waiting for those WUs to timeout and be sent to others for completion. If you (or anyone else) are interested in setting this up, let me know and I can help you get things configured. Hitting me up on the EHW discord is likely the easiest way to get you up and running. As for budget, I initially planned on $200 as an extra push for the competition. Then @CoolGTX showed up in force . I added another $200 to rent more 4090s to be able to compete with the massive amount of gear that he owns and can run!!! In hindsight, it might have been better to use that money towards another 4090 to run full time I guess a bit of background first. For the last 1.5 years or so, I was running 3x3080TI and several lesser 3000 series GPUs. Due to a recent move, I wasn't able to keep running all of that myself. Two of the 3080TI's were shipped to @Cerberus to add to his folding farm. He hosts cards for several EHW members. Meanwhile, I picked up a 4090 that I fold on 24/7. For the competition, I had the following personally owned hardware in play: - 1x4090 - 2x3080TI (hosted by cerberus) - 1x3080 12gb - 1xQuadro P620 (This thing makes a crazy amount of PPD!!!) I'm guessing I would have been fighting for third with my hardware alone. As mentioned above, I also rented 4090s on vast.ai for the competition. My initial ppd was with 4x4090s being rented (about 170mil ppd in total with my hardware). After you ramped up, I added another 8x4090s. I'm currently renting 10x4090s total and my combined ppd with my personal hardware is about 325mil ppd. I'll try to add a few photos later tonight. @CoolGTX, from my understanding, you have only used hardware that you own and run. That is an amazing amount of hardware to be able to devote to folding. You have put up MASSIVE points during the competition. Thanks for contributing and I'm glad we were all able to push each other to contribute more than normal during this competition! A lot of science has been done.

  26. For a while I've been the owner of a cascade phasechange unit. I have used it a couple of times for testing, and recently did some benchmarks with the cooler. I'm trying to figure it all out, and given the lack of time recently there isn't a lot of progress but I'm trying to record some of it so I can share that here or elsewhere. There are more ideas brewing, but I'm not rushing any of that. More to come, hopefully

  27. A 'little' update: Friday I received some dry ice again to run hardware subzero for fun, and for the Country Cup. As the first victim, we had the RX5700XT again for Unigine Superposition 1080P Extreme which was limited to RDNA 1.0. Why am I saying we? Because @server075 and @kaliz were on stream almost all the time, supporting me with all the info I needed, taking screenshots from the stream and keeping me motivated (all the way through the night). Thanks again boys, good times! Lucky for me, the card was already in 'cold trim' and had some additional mods to help her do a little better. Sadly I didn't get my flexible heaters in time, which are needed instead of a normal heater because I moved a few capacitors to the back of the PCB to make clearance for the GPU pot. Anyways, here are some pictures and the result (one of them ) /img/logo.png Bastiaan_NL`s Unigine Superposition - 1080P Xtreme score: 6363 points with a Radeon RX 5700 XT HWBOT.ORG The Radeon RX 5700 XT @ 2450/1825MHzscores getScoreFormatted in the Unigine Superposition - 1080P Xtreme benchmark. Bastiaan_NLranks #null worldwide and #1 in the hardware class. Find... I added more insulation to the back of the card to reduce the risk of it causing shorts. Up and running, testing Superposition: And one of the screenshots from @server075: Onto the next subject, an AMD 4300G. This one was the most fun we had, as it ran full pot (constant -76°C) for almost 5 hours until I decided to quit. The hardware itself was totally happy, besides the ASRock x570 Taichi being a bit weird with a lot of missing settings. The main reason for choosing this hardware is that this was a fitting CPU for another part of the Country Cup. The setup, figuring out some settings on the fly as it was a sort of last minute decision to switch and prep this board. /img/logo.png Bastiaan_NL`s 3DMark - Time Spy Extreme (CPU) score: 2906 marks with a Ryzen 3 4300G HWBOT.ORG The Ryzen 3 4300G @ 5100MHzscores getScoreFormatted in the 3DMark - Time Spy Extreme (CPU) benchmark. Bastiaan_NLranks #19 worldwide and #1 in the hardware class. Find out more at HWBOT. Due to the mass of the pot, and the minimal dissipated heat from a cute 4 core CPU it would run just fine without any dry ice in the pot. It would only heat up about one degree with the benchmark running at any subzero temperature we tested, and because it was totally new to me we did steps of about 10 degrees. Starting at -20°C all the way to hours of full pot fun. And this is what it looks like after many hours of benching: For the final kilo's of dry ice I decided to ask @L0wPull if I could sacrifice the ASUS B650E-I Gaming Wifi motherboard that I bought from him for a prior competition with the 'guarantee' of him buying it back soon after. He told me to go for it, but I would have to keep it... Why not? The CPU for this one was an AMD 7700X and a kit of G.Skill A-Die, with some pretty good results! /img/logo.png Bastiaan_NL`s GPUPI for CPU - 1B score: 39sec 746ms with a Ryzen 7 7700X HWBOT.ORG The Ryzen 7 7700X @ 6350.1MHzscores getScoreFormatted in the GPUPI for CPU - 1B benchmark. Bastiaan_NLranks #5 worldwide and #5 in the hardware class. Find out more at HWBOT. Preparation of the hardware: Cooled down: After a few hours of fun: I just love it how this MASSIVE Kingpin Trex Rev 3 makes the board almost dissapear. With the pretty GT1030 from Galax which @L0wPull found for me it's one of the funniest looking bench setups I had so far. If you made it to this point, I thank you for your interest Also thanks to all the guys who took the time to join the stream for a little entertainment, you know who you are. Love you all!

  28. Fled OCN like everyone else because it's pretty dead. Well that and my display name was gendered and I figured out I'm a trans lesbian. These days I do nutty stuff like OCing ram by 50%, modding the snot out of my gear to make it run faster, and snuggling my girlfriends. Most of my hardware is bodged together one way or another, ex: mobo on Wrath is using a laptop CPU heatsink for the chipset because the fan annoyed me.

  31. Hello Everyone, While I am not technically new, as you can see from my history, I do not often post...at all. I've always been a lurker, offering my advice on PC hardware all around the net. I am a semi-retired overclocker that loves to push hardware (as we all). I do tend to stick to one or two forums and after my last frequented forum died (RIP NBR), I have been scattered. If you know me, you know I'll pick one thread on a forum and live in it. My hope is I find one of those here. EDIT: I would like to add that I am very hardware/brand agnostic when it comes to CPU/GPUs. I use everything from all brands. I love using the best possible hardware available. I'll see you all around.

  32. Thanks for letting me play, I had a great time. This was the only folding contest I've done in the last year. Everyone in this contest, you all ROCK in my Book So Fold what you can, for the Greater Good Thank you ExtremeHW for the space, invite & hosting a great event

  33. OK, you want a peak behind the curtain. The things we do for Folding for the Greater Good & in memory of Loved Ones & in support of those still in the Fight for LIfe Max Folding 37 Million PPD open air, CPU custom loop Beast. Note the 4090 dwarfs the 3090Ti KingPin - PCIe 4.0 x8 with (2) GPUs CPU is 16 core AMD 5950X & MB X570S .... pumps out the points & they crazy stuff you do for contest points, call-up the retired soldiers. Not pretty but very functional, 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra - out in the breeze & yes, the huge beast inside of that case is another 4090 ,,,,,, my older X99 MB. CPU i7-6900K this combo is a slacker @ only 32 Million PPD both GPU run @ PCIe 3.0 x16 Room temp 15C Hope you enjoyed the peak behind the curtain For those NEW to Folding: - Get your Passkey for quick return points - Kill background nonessential stuff in the background of Windows - Tweak Nvidia Control Panel .... you want Performance settings --->> Not max Quality settings - Tweak Windows performance - In Folding Client .... under configure, Set your Slots to ---> Next-Unit-Percentage = 100% (next WU does not download until your current WU is done) - Colder is Faster ......... Nvidia Boost has the last word in GHz ..... keep them cold for max performance - If your into OC software, find the sweat spot for your GPU .... remember Colder is Faster edits: (added a few more thoughts for the new folders out there) - Do Not use your gaming OC settings, dial it back ... Your rig needs to be rock solid or WU will Fail - Every WU is different in the demands it places on your Rig & the number of atoms is a big factor - a Quality PSU is the most important, yet sometimes undervalued, hardware in your rig; it is an investment in stability

  34. Every contribution helps bud. It would be unrealistic to expect everyone to have powerhouse rigs/folding farms. Its all about the teamwork and just participating. Its another reason why we make the competitions Work Unit based as it levels the playing field, otherwise people with the best PPD output would win all the time. For me its about people coming together on a common cause and having a good time

  35. You know, you really don't have to speak any one particular language and/or be any race, creed, color, and/or nationality to appreciate any number of things in life. With that in mind... I guess if any of us has something to be thankful about this U.S. Thanksgiving (or any day, really), it should be me; and I want to thank each and every one of you who helped me get through the past month. I've got a bit of a road ahead of me coupled with a certain amount of uncertainty, but that's okay because I'm taking one day at a time and every day is a new one for me. Wishing each and every one of you and yours a set of happy & safe holidays as we move toward and into the new year Jan

  36. I started a thread over at overclock.net before Avocado roped me in here (My middle-aged overclocking adventure | Overclock.net). I'll probably make duplicate updates to both threads going forward. RL delayed my plans for slowly easing into a stable overclock, but I think I'm ready to proceed now. I was able to install an external temperature sensor. Now I will have ambient temperature data as a point of reference during my tweaking. I also moved the system to its new home. I hope to get some baseline benchmarks done tonight.

  37. Funny reading some of the posts but as others have said, definitely still an enthusiast in lots of I.T aspects and not necessarily just tweaking and overclocking. Still love to tweak and play and actually really enjoy server and storage solutions the last few years. Really enjoyed building my TrueNas server more recently. So yes still just as enthusiastic about tech, but life goals are different now and community management no longer fits within my aspirations Definitely good to have the site continued by fellow enthusiasts. It is important that owners of communities live and breath the same core goals. It lends to success no doubt. I will of course be popping my head in from time to time for some reading and help.

  38. PM'ed again E (well....on discord). Sigh, I might not know the first thing about web site running, but turns out I will be needing a website anyway, similar to this one. Similar freaking name even. Sigh, time to research and get out the wallet maybe. I'm still researching and trying to learn what all this extra crap is that you're paying for, and what all I need to learn to make this happen and be successful. Definitely don't want to just purchase, and then be stuck with a dead site that I can't do anything with because I'm stupid. EDIT: Nobody hold me to this. I'll repeat, I don't even really know HTML coding. But I can't just sit by and let this happen, when I'm going to be needing a site this year anyway that's similar.....and we've ALL already put so much effort in here. Just yeah. I'm overwhelmed still and thinking.

  40. Ooooooh I finally have something to post: I don't know if I'm going to kick myself in two years having gone with this over the 7900XTX, but because it was same price point ($999 msrp, man am I a dunce), I figured the RT and otehr features (productivity etc, encoding) was worth it now. Plus I couldn't find an available 4090 at the $1500 mark so.... pretty impressed with this going from a 6800XT that was massively clocked.

  43. Hey all, happy to be aboard, i'm an OG from OCN getting back into it. Celebrating 15 years with the same HAF932 case this fall, and as many builds in it. From i7 920 to i9 14900K; first SSD to only NVME and SSD's, X58 to Z790, 9800 GX2 to 3080 Ti, triple channel DDR3 to dual DDR5, cathode tubes to the modern RGB LED craze, this case has always been part of the ride... Shoutout to GanjaSMK for the info; good to be back to an indie OC forum! First pic late 2008 (?), 2nd late 2023...

  44. T-1 Hour till the end of this competition. It looks like we are going to place 7th, one spot better than last year. I am very proud of the participation and commitment from everyone this year. EHW is still a very small fish swimming in a large pond with these heavy hitting XOC teams and we accomplished more than I thought we could. We managed to stay in the top three for 90% of the tournament length and gained attention and a few extra members to our cause due to that. I look forward to next year! GG's guise!

  46. I'm sure this is no big deal to a number of forum members here, but this is as close as I've ever gotten to a cutting-edge GPU so it's kind of exciting for me. Yes, it is used. Yes, much of its potential will be wasted for a few more months until I build my Zen 4 machine. I have a friend building a new PC now who is interested in my 3060 Ti, and I was going to upgrade sooner or later now that I'm driving a 4K TV and a wannabe-4K ultrawide monitor, so I went for it during an active eBay Bucks promotion. Also, I get to own a small piece of history, a top-shelf EVGA FTW series card with nearly top-shelf 30 series silicon, for a period of time while it's still performance-relevant. It's sad to say that this will be my sixth and final EVGA card and we all know it has nothing to do with being dissatisfied with the brand.

  47. Hey guys. Long time overclock.net member (since 2012) and a bit of a lurker around here even though I set up my account quite some time ago. Looking for that pre-V bulletin OCN vibe. OCN just doesn't feel the same. Hoping here is more active. Hoping alot of the OCN old blood I still out here kicking.
