EVGA Exiting GPU Market, Citing Abusive Treatment by NVIDIA as Reason

...don't you have two 3090 FTW3 ? At least they can keep each other company in the cold, dark and lonely nights ahead... I think I'll take my 7x Classies from previous gens and put them all in the same cardboard box so they can have a game of cards and reminisce while the EVBots shine a warm red onto their coolers...

EVGA Exiting GPU Market, Citing Abusive Treatment by NVIDIA as Reason
J7SC_Orion replied to Mr. Fox's topic in Hardware News
...if this is bargaining (and it very well might have started out that way), it feels like it seriously broke down between two entrenched positions - Gamers Nexus reported that senior NVidia managers were advised in April. Either way, EVGA would also take some permanent damage in terms of GPU customer trust if it subsequently reverses in the near future. This current 'news' however seems to miss some major pieces of the puzzle, not least as EVGA apparently produced several engineering sample models of the RTX 4K line. Anyway, it is a corporate soap opera mess right now. -

...according to the few reports I have seen /read so far on this, graphic cards (read NVidia-GPUs) made up about 80% of EVGA's overall revenue; tough to just completely vacate related revenue streams now - is EVGA perhaps doing far worse than anyone assumed ? -

Not withstanding recessionary fears affecting revenue forecasts in general, I wonder if EVGA : a.) got stuck with a whole pile of RTX 3K dies b.) also wants to offer AMD XT/X 7K GPUs (or even Intel Arc?), unless that is also nixed for good... -
Fall, after all...

...I figure about Can$ 2,500 or so for decent custom AIO after a month or so after release at Memory Express and Canada Computers... -
...here is the map of the 'case' fans (so excluding actual water-cooling fans) to cool things like the backs of the two GPUs which have huge extra heatsinks and also the VRMs & RAM on the mobos. Normally, I would build w/ exhaust on top but given the unique layout and mods of Raven_A, this has proven to be the best arrangement. Even with 27 C ambient, all temps stayed low.

....yeah, boot times during full memory training to check oc gives a new meaning to patience = virtue. Once set though, boot times should be more 'normal'. For sheer oc'ing re. clocks, the regular 7950X might be a better bet...but for GPU and some RAM related benches, that 7950X VCache (V95?) should be a no-brainer. One thing is for sure, though, BIG cooling will help even in daily trim, never mind HWBot trim, for both 7950X variants (with the 7950X VCache requiring the most). I'm a bit conflicted re. upgrades - my 5950X setup already hits CineR23 > 32.4k and flies in most other things I throw at it - so I'm likely to wait until early 2023 before considering an upgrade build (7950X Vcache and/or Raptor Lake 13900); by that time, new platform bugs / bios should be worked out, and its secrets spilled. The 4090 Ti is another (earlier?) upgrade proposition, not that I actually need a faster GPU...if anything, I will first add the 4090 Ti to the current Ravens builds. I also think that AMD has s.th. up its sleeve, ie. a mGPU multi-core 7900 XTX, rumored to have > 24,000 cores, but appearing as a single GPU to the driver and Win 10/11. They probably release that one right around the 4090 Ti, may be a bit later. As to 4090 Ti performance and comps to other AD and GA models, this has been making the rounds...

One 7950X 3D VCache to go, please...no need to wrap it... ...just what @Bastiaan_NL and many others have been waiting for, if this rumor turns out to be true.

....yes, 4x D5 (across two loops) is enough; besides I needed an extra D5 for another project. Speaking of which, I made a collage of my last 4 builds to decide what style I want to go with for a new build (early 2023, when all the new stuff is out - and v/bios de-bugged ). The CM Stryker (bottom right) was the last time I used a 'normal ' case, since then, it is either complete custom-fabbed frames, or using TT Core Px products as scaffolding for heavy modding since it will be another dual-mobo project. Also thinking about a giant '4x2' wall project

techspot NAND prices expected to plummet 30-35%
J7SC_Orion replied to UltraMega's topic in Hardware News
Not so long ago, I still had some main systems running with spinning HDDs ...but with the 'Ravens Nest' builds and its multiple work-play machines, a total of 12TB is now SSD...4x M.2 drives with a total of 4TB are gen4 NVME, 1TB is gen3 NVME M.2, and 7TB is WD Blue 1TB M.2 or SSDs. The only time I can tell the difference between the gen 3 and gen 4 NVMes is during game loading time, but even that is not dramatic, yet gen 4 is twice as fast in the related synthetic benches. The biggest performance step was to go from spinner HDDs to SSD, IMO, for daily stuff. For now, the Ravens Nest systems are more than plenty, and I have a tough time getting excited about next-gen Intel and AMD, PCIe 5 drives etc. Don't get me wrong, they have some great tech and specs but the performance increase of next gen CPU, DDR5 and PCIe 5 drives over the current setups will be hard to justify re. both work and play. Direct storage adoption also factors in at some point so I might take a look early next year what the next work-play builds should look like. A 4090 / Ti or 7900XTX would fit nicely as an upgrade for the existing 'base', rather than redoing everything, though the current 6900XT and 3090 aren't exactly slouches. Late winter / early spring is my target date to consider upgrading, though one never knows when what deal comes knocking... -

...did some maintenance &..modded the loop setup slightly and reduced the number of D5s from five to four (two per loop). FYI, pics taken with an older camera and through smoked glass panels 'for that special effect' ... System 1 (left) - Asus X570 Hero Wifi, 3950X w/Phanteks block, 32GB DDR4 (set to 3800 CL14), AMD 6900XT w/Bykski block, 2x D5s, 1200x62 rads, Seasonic Prime Platinum PX1300W System 2 (right) - Asus X570 Dark Hero, 5950X w/Phanteks block, 32GB DDR4 (set to 3800 CL14), 3090 Strix w/Phanteks block, 2x D5s, 1320x62 rads, Seasonic Prime Platinum PX1300W ...afterwards, put the system through its paces - still humming along, a lowish temps even when stressed !

...a small improvement in the 4K score; still way too hot ambient to give it all the beans update on the update @Sir Beregond ...have you tried w/ Vulkan ? On my 3090, DX12 is faster than Vulkan but others w/ 3090/Ti below show the opposite. Vulkan does work best for the 6900XT setup though.

...spending most of my free time on FS 2020. These days, I'm flying low over Ushuaia, heading North along the spine of the Andes. 4K 120 / 48 OLED HDR makes it all the more stunning.

I can't believe that it has been over a year since I finished the Ravens' Nest systems. Raven_A (dual X570, 3090 Strix and 6900XT, modded TT Core P8 ) got some basic maintenance, apart from recently receiving dual Seasonic Prime Platinum PX1300 PSUs for Raven_A. Liquids for both loops are still absolutely pristine. Raven_B (2950x Threadripper, 2x 2080 Tis, TT Core P5) got a new Phanteks CPU TR block as the Heatkiller had some nickel peeled off on the inside on the jet plate ...I also reworked the cooling system, replacing the 4x D5 and 5x 360/60 rad dual loop system with a single loop, downsized to 3x 360/60 rads and 3x D5s. Temperature differential is negligible (may be 1.5 C under load). I also added a WD SN750 NVMe.

Right now (sure to change), both my 3090 and 6900XT are doing great in the GravityMark Leaderboard (below, my best runs per expanded fields), but that will surely change. I'll add 2x 2080 Tis a bit later as well as this bench allows for SLI... ...ultimately, what really matters to me is that my cards perform very well for work, and of course gaming as well - that means that w/ my monitors, that should be 4K/120/HDR. With that in mind, I am in no hurry to add next-gen GPUs, though time will tell...

....just saw this thread - that's a neat benchmark ! ...Ran a quick one on the stock vbios; will add power vbios and 6900XT results later.... LOD on default, 4K, DX12

...throw in 4x 4090 Ti and you can even play Crysis at 1080p
