  1. Dreaming in Technicolor = AMD releasing this as a 96 Core oc'able Threadripper Pro (w-cooled, of course)
  2. ...FS2020 still has its quirks, but it has come a long way - and SU10 w DLSS/RTX/DX12 could be a juicy service update. What I like about the 48 inch OLED is that it is so big that one can play various custom resolutions (ie ~ 21:9), but I usually just play it at 4096x2160 w/terrain detail at 400/400 since I also like flying low through 'city canyons' rather than just the big mountains.
  3. I tried out some 21:9 ultra wide resolution for FS2020 on my 48 inch C1 OLED...actually works great and gives you a different FOV experience, though no HDR for that until NVidia updates the driver. Still, a fun experiment and a different 'flying experience'...
  4. ...I still wonder about 4090 vs 4090 Ti, and related pricing (never mind heat management of the rumored wattage). I also still think that AMD's mGPU approach for next gens might have spurred NVidia into these monsters (if they materialize), even if AMD's tile approach will initially be different and not threaten NVidia's 'GPU performance leadership'.
  5. I am wondering if those 48 GB are using 4 GB VRAM modules, or 2 GB VRAM per...if it is the latter, it might be back to double-sided VRAM special backplate cooling, a la 3090...
  6. ...forgot to mention: I also have a Club3D 10 ft HDMI 2.1 that works flawlessly. Club3D should be more widely available where you are, and I have various other Club3D cables and adapters that have served me well over the years.
  7. Here in Canada, they're about C$150 - C$ 200 cheaper than a year ago, but some of that has to do with the exchange rate.
  8. ...I got 4 sets of these HDMI 2.1cables ('Trusted' is the brand)...steel-braided and sturdy - zero problems with either BigNavi of RTX3K attached to C1 OLED. I bought them here in W.Canada but am sure I've seen them at US retailers.
  9. ...8k textures. The C1 OLED still makes me as happy as on day one. Down the line, the IPS HDR 55' in our bedroom might need replacing, though. That one also has FS2020 on it (2x 2080 Ti). If/when the tv needs to be replaced, 8k OLED might be nice if prices have come down more...btw, best time to buy these things on average is apparently just before 'black Friday', and/or when a new model has been introduced.
  10. I am looking forward to the next update patch release ( # 10) for FS 2020; it's in beta testing now...it will have DLSS and FSR ! Of course, there are likely to be the usual release problems and patches for the patches, but still, great news. I'm already getting some decent performance at 4K max settings, but I might just try 8K again, but with DLSS enabled...
  11. yes, dreaming in Technicolor ...but they may / may not bring out a Threadripper Pro 96C version which would be around US$12K+ and also come with 12-channel DDR 5, but this is obviously outside the normal 'home build project' budget. The 32C/64T Zen 4 core Threadripper Pro w/ 12 channel DDR 5 would be the 'max' I would consider for a work-play project...but first, I like to see some post-release Zen 4 core IPC numbers, also compared to the post-release Intel Raptor Lake / Sapphire Rapids HEDT IPC numbers.
  12. For me, the question re. 4090 / Ti purchase will primarily be re. 'applications', apart from the odd benching. FS2020 and CP2077 are the ones in my gaming folder that are the most demanding at 4K max eye candy, and my 3090 does quite well with those (for comparison, it scores well over 11.5k graphics in 3DM TSEx) - but there's a lot of room left before I exhaust 4K 120Hz on the OLED. That said, it already reaches well past 500W peak ...even with a die shrink, 4090 / Tis are expected to exceed 600W in OC mode, given their rumored MHz speed. There's also the question what AMD will do with RDNA3 as their RDNA3 top 'single' model is expected to give a 4080 a run for the money, but not a 4090 / Ti... Perhaps AMD will introduce a mGPU counterpart to the old 7990/8990s, but w/ mGPU appearing as a homogenous GPU to the driver (AMD filed some related patents a while back). Interesting times ahead in the GPU world, for sure...looking forward to the first full-fledged upper-level consumer cards getting reviewed (ie. Asus Strix & Co).
  13. ...not really, also because I set up my monitors up differently than most. I would just use some YT HLG HDR / Dolby Vision vids (you can also pause / repeat) for finetuning, along of course with games such as CyberPunk 2077
  14. @Sir Beregond ...just a quick addendum: 'Some' C1s actually have the physical evo panel but not the relevant software, apart from the fact that LG frowns on such user mods (still, you can Google it). In any case, the panels are mostly identical but the evo can hit higher max brightness. Then again, I have all my monitors (OLED or otherwise) at less than 50% brightness anyhow given my eye sensitivity to bright lights. You do want to avoid placing the C1 with a direct light-source in front of it, though, be it a window or an electrical light.
  15. I've been enjoying that model for a while now as a computer screen (and p/t tv) - absolutely love it. When you have set it all up once it arrived, check out >this YT channel
  16. German_Mexican_Italian main dish, plus yummy desert
  17. ...another 'interesting' e-car ride...a friend of mine picked me up in his Audi eTron...big torque, big wheels and big brakes !
  18. ...sadly, Intel hasn't shown up in the HEDT desktop market for a while, so the AMD 5990X wasn't officially released - why bother if you're AMD. The 5995WX (64C/128T)on the other hand is s.th. else, now that it is overclockable and has 8-channel RAM - and an outlandish price. The 5975WX (32C/64T) on the other hand could be an interesting benching beast as it is easier to cool and power. All that said though, with Zen4 cores about to release which includes DDR5 and PCIe 5, it might be worth waiting for the next gen (7995WX/7975WX) Threadripper Pros - allegedly, they'll come with 12 channel DDR5 RAM .
  19. 10 C ambient would be nice indeed...I might even scratch 33K in CineR23 w/ 10 C and full-tilt OC. As you know, I love benching, but even at 25 C and daily 24/7 trim, I get CineR23 at 31.5k w/o breaking a sweat. The oversized loop is near-silent and doesn't heatsoak even after hours of FS2020 (below near 'Rivers' Inlet' up the coast) and CyberP2077 on 4K max everything. I don't know how tempted I will be with the next-gen AMD and/or Intel CPUs, and next-gen GPUs (4090 Ti with 18432 Cores, 192 ROPS ) but for now...
  20. 1320 x 62 rads w/ push-pull help. BTW, have you dived into Ryzen RAM tuning / rabbit holes yet w/your build ?
  21. It's a good chip - CCX1 can get to 4.925 (8c/16t), CCX2 can get to 4850 (8c/16t) max, but the above was 'only' 4750 (16c/32t) because ambient was 25C. Best single core can get to ~ 5060 effective / 5125 nominal.
  22. ...I dunno, I kind of like the 5950X, after using Intel HEDT for years (which have their own charms, of course). 5950X at ~ 240 W for CinebenchR23 (water-cooled, ambient temps). I could try to go higher, but not in July
