  1. Nice ! I got my 5950X just under a year ago, and it does everything very well and in some things, 5950X is exceptional. What mobo are you using for it ?
  2. 24GB of this would look good on one of my future GPUs...
  3. ...you sure are having a ton of fun with this build ...all is well that ends well... ...re. bios, I asked to vendor to load the latest one when I picked up the mobo w/ the CPU already mounted. Said bios is 3501 and I never had any problems with it on my Win 10 Pro, so it is still there (I'm a bios luddite). If you are running Win 11, there is supposed to be a new one in May that deals with select TPM stuttering on some systems. ...re bent pins, check this out, including the writing utensil he uses to straighten the pins (and some tips in case you break one off)
  4. ...true, but you could also buy some shares in dongle makers
  5. Good to hear. Also, looking at the typical efficiency curve of a PSU, 1 kw rating is a good thing, also with an eye on potential future upgrades.
  6. My first delid was a 5 giggles 1.3v 3770K - bare-die and LM pushed it way beyond that. I delidded a few other Intels since then, but no AMDs at this stage... and unlike @Mr. Fox, I love both the 3950X and 5950X...the latter even does DDR4 4000, but most of the time, I undervolt relevant parameters for DDR4 3800 CL14 for both chips. Looking forward to LG1700 / DDR5 when the RAM I want releases. I probably delid it and use bare-die, but likely skip LM, just in case I want to freeze it.
  7. ...hard to tell from a distance / w/o seeing the machine, but try using the 980 Strix to set PCIe 3.0 for the GPU slot for now until you can mount the final boot drive etc.
  8. found the actual new PCB pic, per > 'DigitNews' also, the water block is apparently by Bitspower
  9. ...what I actually find most interesting about this particular Hof OCL is the PCB and its dual new hi-po power connectors...because I've read several times now that the RTX 4 Ada L is supposed to be pin-compatible with the 3090 Ti. So this could be a bit of a preview of what is to come. Hopefully, Buildzoid gets his hands on this PCB for a detailed review.
  10. 2x 3090 Ti HoF w/ water blocks could be entertaining for a while hopefully powered by green energy
  11. ...indeed, and we appreciate his work a lot- but he did post "If you see anything out of place let me know and I will get it fixed."
  12. @Storm-Chaser ...I think you missed my latest results > here , also re. the new single core table etc. Anyway, thanks for the effort(s) on this thread. Btw, new hardware soon...
  13. ...02 comes up briefly at bootup for a few seconds to allow to go into the bios (ie. via del) but it otherwise just cycles on and boots. Any LED colour codes underneath the Q code that stay on ?
  14. ...also, a smart move re. price inflation for the end user for this kind of equipment.
  15. ...yeah, a nice set of two (32GB, 64GB) of 7200 CL32 is what I'm waiting for; should work with AM5 as well. Then again, with new Covid waves in Asia (for now), and war-disrupted materials input chains, who really knows about availability dates (and pricing)...
  16. ...I also wonder about a.) usefulness b.) availability and c.) actual pricing re. the 3090 Ti. It's quite late in the Ampere product cycle already with the next-gen architecture enterprise models just introduced (H100), and consumer versions (RTX 4Kx / Ada Lovelace) already sampling with vendors. As to power consumption, my admittedly-well running 3090 Strix on stock bios is already at 450W, with measured peaks at over 500W with the PL slider maxed...never mind the KPE 520W / 1KW custom bios also on there... RTX 4Kx apparently use up to 4x 8 pin of the current PSU PCIe cables, or those new PCIe connector versions just being introduced, with custom models apparently exceeding 600W... Even if it is 'only' 520W, what about the electricity consumption and climate change ? That's probably not a hot topic w/ enthusiast computing but still one which will loom much larger for all. My family has reduced our carbon footprint significantly via just a few conscious decisions, but my enthusiast computing continues in the opposite direction...
  17. FYI, I've been using Primochill Advanced LRT (incl. white) for a while with no visible deterioration - bar one: When I had some Nickel coating come off a TR CPU block. Exposed copper can do all kinds of things, even with inhibitors in the fluid. All that said, earlier version of PrimoChill tubing I had from around 2014 (PrimoChill Pro) easily coated up with deposits after about 12 months, even with the same liquids and additives. That's one reason why they switched it over to the newer PrimoChill Advanced LRT... Could your 4790K tubing perhaps be the older 'Pro' kind (boxes look almost identical) ?
  18. I'm somewhat conflicted about the 12900KS (which I had been waiting for re. a new Unify-X mobo). I'm still waiting for the next DDR5 RAM speed-step to arrive (soon, I hear), but by that time, LG1700 Raptor Lake is only a few months away...its release timing probably has s.th. to do with AM5...
  19. ...Superglue (along with industrial velcro) are a builder's / modder's best friend. If all else fails, steel strapping such as the one below can be used to make all kinds of brackets (just add flat black paint )
  20. OK then ...now I wish you would do a 1000+ single core...5.7 giggles at 0.920v leaves some headroom, no ?
  21. ...that cold-plate...SHINY ! Whenever I can, I reuse w-cooling parts after thorough cleaning (one reason why I am careful not to use liquids w/ pastels et al), but those tubes you showed should probably not be reused...you might try some pure white vinegar though and let it sit for an hour (subject to inspecting the inner tube condition afterwards to see how it 'took' to that).
  22. ...post bro's birthday party updates - that's dedication ! A few more files from ye ol' thumb drive, still ambient though (around 19 C afaik) 3950x = 582.5 + 12,699.9 = 13,282.4 5950x = 709.7 + 14,427.6 = 15,137.3
  23. ...should be interesting to see how they fit underneath modern motherboard shrouds. Also "only 70 C..." ...water-cooling gear for DDR5+ and PCIe 5+ should be a 'hot' seller soon.
