  1. So incase anyone is unaware, just a few days ago Lord of the Rings came out in 4K. The movies were shot on 35mm film which seems to land somewhere between 1080p and 4K in terms of image sharpness. The movies are sharper but not greatly so. The best change is the color correction. It hasn't been upscaled to try to look like it's HDR, but there were a lot of scenes with bad color tinting before the remaster, and the color correction alone makes a big difference. So far I think the cheapest way to watch this is actually the windows store. You can rent the non-extended 4K movies in 4K for $4. The extended versions can not be rented but can be purchased. I rented the first one past night and was not at all disappointed. It looks like it was filmed recently and not 20 years ago now.

  3. I was able to get the logitech pro joystick for $33 shipped on ebay.
  4. Perhaps, but I think it's unlikely. I don't think there is any significant benifit to having one massive dish vs an array of smaller ones these days. The "telescope" used to picture a black hole was actually an array of small telescopes from around the globe. I think in the past it was difficult to compose all the data from muli-dish arrays into something useable and meaningful but with modern computers that is now a simple task.

  6. Hmm that dell one is interesting tho I'll probably keep an eye out for a deal on eBay for the logitech one, it seems to be fairly common. Thank for the suggestions!
  7. Going for $90 these days. Seems like flight sim has definitely caused the prices to go up.
  8. Common for different fans/shrouds to be used... so I guess the answer to your question is yes.
  9. Any recommendations on a new or used flight stick on the lower end of the price spectrum? I'm interested in getting one but they are all around $100. I'm not looking for anything fancy, just a step up from using a controller.
  10. Seems like something that will get ironed out pretty quickly. No surprise that there is variation in fans, that is common for any device with a fan. Probably just slipped through the cracks with QA.
  11. Source: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/iconic-radio-telescope-suffers-catastrophic-collapse/ar-BB1bwRG3 I looked up what this dish was mainly used for most recently; it was used mostly to track asteroids. Funny how much more it looks like that bf4 map now.
  12. "Do your own research" is the mantra of people who believe everything they read online, as long as it's fake. Can't trust the experts or academics. Everyone is lying and only the people who read about it online for x amount of time really know what's going on! The truth is out there, and it's so poorly hidden, you can just read about it online but only in places that tell you what you already believe. All you have to do is believe whatever is good for your team and you have found the truth!
  13. These lawsuits have nothing to do with Trump or politics so IDK why you're bringing it up in this context. These lawsuits are about big companies blocking competition from entering the market in unfair ways. And why would they do what he wants them to do? That's a dumb question. Why wouldn't they as long as he's still their boss is a better question, but since those lawsuits aren't political that wouldn't make sense to ask either. Google and Facebook are being sued because the government believes they have engaged in anti competitive behavior to keep competitors from having a fair chance and it's just that simple. Not everything in life is filled with political drama and conspiracies.
  14. I can file a lawsuit against you for whatever I want. Doesn't mean you are guilty. Also, your link is behind a pay wall so if you want anyone to bother to read whatever it is your getting at, try a different source. However, without knowing the source of your info it would seem obvious to anyone with common sense that the DOJ and FTC (both organizations with leaders appointed by Trump) that they are simply doing what Trump wants them to do.

  17. Very odd. Try setting your bios to defaults and see what happens. I wish I could remember more about exactly how I fixed the issue when I had it. I think it actually was a motherboard bios update that fixed it for me now that I'm thinking more about it but my pc was older and you already updated your mobo bios anyway.
  18. All I know for sure is I had to update the bios on an AMD RX 480 to get it to work on one of my PCs even though it worked fine in another. Something to do with UEFI compatibility. There was an official update for it when I did it. The 480 and 570 are pretty similar so it sounds like the same issue to me. If you already updated the bios of the video card and it's still not working then IDK, must be a different issue.
  19. CPUs and GPUs already have some hardware level DRM-like features for things like streaming copyrighted videos. Hardware level security features is something that's been slowing growing over time.
  20. You may need to update the bios to your GPU. Some AMD 500 series GPUs actually won't work in newer systems without a bios update. I ran into the same issue myself and it was definitely confusing at first. I think this is what you need: https://www.amd.com/en/support/gpu-firmware-download
  21. I wonder if the RT performance will improve over time, or work better/worse in different implementations. Currently all the ray tracing games are RTX which means Nvidia only so we only have the 3Dmark score to look at, which if I'm not mistaken is purely reflections and not GI-RT. RT reflections are nice but so far all the games I've seen that use them seem to over-use it almost like they're a tech demo for RT reflections. WD Legion seems like a great example of that. If performance was more on par when using ray tracing for GI instead of reflections, that would definitely change the situation but for now it seems like the RT performance is disappointingly far behind. Being worse in full path tracing than a 2080Ti (which has pretty weak RT performance anyway) makes RT seem like a non existing feature for AMD right now because with that kind of performance it's just not practical to use it. Separate from that though, it will be really interesting to see how performance scales when titles start using more Vram or using more advanced features like some of the stuff we saw in the UE5 demo. It seems like we don't really have any true next gen titles to look at yet. Everything "next gen" right now is just the same type of games as last gen but with RT added in. One thing that was interesting was in the gamers nexus review they point out that AMD has better frame time consistency and generally better 1% lows.
  22. The surface go has a really weak cpu. Totally different experience on a surface pro. Heck a surface pro 3 or anything above is fast enough to play games like bf4.
