  2. I still think mining will take over the RTX 4000 series and make it hard for gamers to get cards but at this point most pc gamers are so far behind that upgrading to used 3000 cards will be a great deal for them. This might become a new norm of pc gamers being a gen behind and buying used from miners.
  3. I think they're both to blame. Google allows that kind of explanation on their OS in the first place.
  4. Hmm I hadn't heard about those parts of this. Not a fan of that kind of thing either. I just want to be able to remove the atnt apps from my phone.
  5. Google designed the OS that doesn't give users the option to remove certain apps. Seems like a google issue to me, but the blame can be shared.
  6. They're not worried about things like file explorer or parts of the OS, they're worried about stuff like atnt apps that can't be removed even on an unlocked phone. If you buy a PC that comes with pre-installed apps like Norton or Dell whatever, you can remove them. It's a simple concept.
  7. I think the part that pertains to google is the part about removing preinstalled apps.
  8. EU adopts Digital Markets Act, possibly forcing Apple to allow sideloading WWW.TECHSPOT.COM The European Commission adopted the Digital Markets Act (DMA) and the Digital Services Act (DSA) this week... I hope this kind of thing gets adopted everywhere.
  9. Unofficial FSR 2.0 mod arrives to several more games including Dying Light 2, RDR 2 and Death Stranding WWW.TECHSPOT.COM After modders added FSR 2.0 to Cyberpunk 2077 by replacing the game's DLSS implementation, they...
  10. It's not really one or the other, just a matter of perspective. They are contrary to each other in that regard, but like I said it also has a lot to do with it just being well before my time and it's hard for me to enjoy shows that old. I like the characters from TOS and I think the Kirk movies are probably better overall than the TNG movies, just the TOS show itself is too old for me, but I definitely appreciate it for being the thing to start the whole series of shows and movies. Rick Berman is largely responsible for the different look and feel of the shows from TNG to Enterprise and I think most people agree that was the height of Star Trek. Gene Rodenberry died I think between seasons 2-3 of TNG and Rick Berman took over. Most people consider seasons 1 and 2 of TNG to be the worst. Some of that may be growing pains for a new show, but some may also have been the shift in top management. Rick Berman was not without fault in his personal life either. I think he dated Jeri Ryan during the making of Voyager which caused a lot of tension for everyone involved, and it's obviously a big conflict of interest but when it comes to the shows, I think he did a great job of building of the formula Rodenberry had laid out and refining it to its best form to date.
  11. Definitely excited to see what next gen PC GPUs will do now that they've had a good amount of time to get into more mature RT and AI tech. Very curious to see what AMD does to catch up, or if they will catch up on those fronts and I suspect they will.
  12. There's a big difference between the below the knee outfits in real life and the mini skirt style dresses in TOS, but it's hardly the only reason I haven't watched it. It's also just hard for me to get into a show that old. Still, I think the decision to make the women in TOS look the way they so is completely contrary to how they are in every other ST show in which they are treated as equals and not objects.
  13. Yea I dont get mad about it, but it's dumb. There supposed to be essentially like military personnel on a space ship but the women all look like a 1960s secretary. Gene Roddenberry was notorious for the way he treated women in his personal life, and not in a good way. I see the outfits as kind of an extension of that. It's just very awkward after starting on trek with Voyager.
  14. Can't deny that DS9 is the most epic of them all, but they all have different flavors. TNG is the most true to form, and the most basic. It gives us the flagship perspective which goes into some bureaucracy at times. DS9 is the war story, darker and more epic and packed with action and drama. Voyager focuses more on individual characters and their development over time, with almost every character growing a lot throughout the show. I don't think I have a favorite really because they all do a good job covering different ground. I like the nuanced character development that Voyager brings to the table. The Doctor is a great example. But yea man, you really should get on season 3 on Orville! If they keep this momentum, it might even surpass DS9 eventually.
  15. Watching the newest episode of the Orville today and I realized this is by far the best Star Trek show to come out since DS9 and Voyager ended. The writing is truly impressive. Just so funny to me to see this show hitting such high notes and making actual Star Trek shows feel cheap and lazy by comparison.
  16. China has a renewed plan to make a homegrown OS that could replace the need for Windows WWW.TECHSPOT.COM According to a South China Morning Post report, the Chinese government is spearheading the development of a... Seems like the only way this could take off in China would be if they banned the sale of Windows... which seems like something China might do eventually.
  17. They're analysis is super detailed yet still easily digestible to a laymen. They did a great job on this video for sure.
  18. https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/tensor-core-equivalent-likely-to-get-embedded-in-amd-rdna3.html I dont think this is really anything new, pretty sure its been known that RDNA3 would embrace the machine learning hardware trend that Nvidia and Intel are already focused on.
  19. Yea it's lame, you can only do it on premade RTX worlds that you can't even edit. It's a waste of time.
  20. Mega64 Dragon Ball Video Features Game Industry Legends - GameSpot WWW.GAMESPOT.COM Goku gets an assist from Hideo Kojima, Gabe Newell, and other video game legends in Mega64's parody of Dragon Ball Z's Majin Buu saga. Love it!
  21. Arm's new flagship GPU will include hardware ray tracing support. Yeah, ray-traced phones | PC Gamer WWW.PCGAMER.COM Look out for it in high end phones in 2023. Anyone here actually play demanding games on their phone?
  22. Yea, I noticed that when I looked it up and I also got a little chuckle. I knew the headline had to be wrong when I first saw it because there is no way a space probe would be running windows, but I didn't have a chance to look it up until today.
  23. I think you mean orbiter, not rover. If you consider how far past the planned mission timeframe the Voyager missions, or Huble, or almost any Mars rover have lasted, it's really not strange at all to expect these things to last well beyond their manufacturing goals. With that said, the Mars Express Orbiter is only 18.5 years old so still another 18 months before it even gets to that point assuming the batteries were designed to last 20 years.
  24. Sure thing. It is kinda surprising to learn that any space probe would use lithium ion batteries. Seems like it would make a lot more sense to use a nuclear power source like the Voyager probes do since radiation isn't an issue but that is definitely beyond my area of knowledge.
