  1. I thought about selling; I think there was a good amount of uncertainty on Monday about the situation and it could have easily been a two or three day event instead of just a one day event. Things could still be a bit rocky going forward. Ideally though, stop limits are for this kind of situation exactly and anyone who had some good stop limits setup before Monday would have had their stock sell before it went down much and then they would want to buy back in at the end of the day or the next day to just skip over the losses. I have been lazy about setting up stop limits and I'm kicking myself a little about it now haha.
  2. Looks like it was pretty short lived. After this morning I've gotten a out 70% of the recent losses back.
  3. Elon Musk: SpaceX Starlink service will go live next month WWW.TECHSPOT.COM SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is confident the Starlink satellite internet service will be going live as soon as next month. This would be two months later than... Looking forward to seeing how this all goes down when it goes live.
  4. Looks like you we're right about that, but probably not for all of the same reasons you would have guessed at the time.
  5. TSLA, NVDA, AAPL, NIO: Why Is the Stock Market Down Today? INVESTORPLACE.COM The stock market isn't doing so hot and investors need only look at some of the biggest names to understand why shares are down today. I was thinking about putting more money in recently, good thing I didn't do it yet. If this lasts for a while I suppose I'll probably try to "buy the dip" at some point. Not great news but not super surprising with some of the recent runs. Personally I wouldn't be sad if crypto tanked, but I'd feel bad for those who are heavily invested in it.
  6. Yea as dumb as the John Cena thing was, had he not capitulated the financial impact would have affected a lot more people than just himself.
  7. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/wikipedia-banned-seven-users-after-reported-infiltration-by-a-chinese-group/ar-AAOxRFl?ocid=mmx&PC=EMMX01 China being China
  8. Pretty cool news. I think the pay-off could be huge someday if for example governments started requiring private companies to do more to clean up their space junk. Having a company around ready to provide their service when it's needed could be extremely lucrative.
  9. Alt source: New AMD drivers enable Smart Access Memory on Radeon RX 5000 (guru3d.com) AMD drivers Adrenalin 2020 21.9.1 support automated overclocking (guru3d.com)
  10. https://www.overclock3d.net/news/software/amd_adds_auto-overclocking_support_to_their_radeon_software_suite/1 Good news for me, GangaSNK and the other half dozen people with amd 6000 GPUs.
  11. In windows 8 programs that changed the start menu were a huge security issue. Almost every time I had a customer with a virus on win8 it was from a custom start menu program. I hope that won't be the case with 10.
  12. Yes it is and yes the graphics in the game are really good. I think that's part of why it's not a better known game; when it came out in 2017 hardly any GPUs could run it smoothly and a 3090 can't even hold 60 fps at max 4k which I think lead to the game being mostly overlooked on PC. Wildlands seems to use a really heavy handed form of HBAO+ that looks really great, but has the performance requirements to match. If you've never tried it and you like open world shooters like far cry, I definitely recommend checking it out. It's gotten a lot of quality of life updates over the years and it goes on sale often.
  13. I hate to say that I think windows 11 has solved my issue. Performance feels smoother than before here. Assuredly, this game was bugged in its directx implementation so gains shouldn't be too out of the realm of possibility. If not windows than its AMD driver updates, though they would be way overdue for a 2017 game.
  14. I'm looking forward to seeing the final product and having a nostalgic reminition.
  15. I have an 800mbps connection, I think it's like 20mbps upload. Comcast, about $70 a month.
  16. I really like their approach for ray tracing. It seems like the reflections are low res enough to allow the game to run at 60fps while still getting the job done nicely. I can see a little aliasing here and there but I'm sure in motion that won't be noticeable.
  17. Epic v. Apple: Judge Rules Apple Must Allow Developers to Direct App Users to Outside Payment Options - IGN WWW.IGN.COM A judge has finally ruled in the Epic vs. Apple lawsuit, issuing an injunction in Epic's favor that will... Good new IMO.
  18. You're right, I misread the graph when I first looked at it. Skimmed it too hard I guess. I have seen other benchmarks that show a difference though. This video shows a small but tangible difference in most of the games tested.
  19. Researchers unveil ransomware detection and recovery method for SSDs WWW.TECHSPOT.COM The Register spoke with the researchers, who come from Inha University, the Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science & Technology (DGIST), the University of Central Florida (UCF), and... Neat stuff, goes over my head but anything that slows down the spread of ransomware seems good to me.
  20. I hate that I can't move the taskbar. I usually keep mine on the left, having it on the bottom again feels so weird! I found a registry edit that lets me move the taskbar but it doesn't really work when it's set to the side, presumably that's why they don't have this feature enabled right now.
  21. Does mining use a lot of Vram? Seems weird that they would make the higher Vram only for miners, I didn't think Vram was super important for mining but I don't know a lot about the technical parts of it.
  22. Windows 11 vs. Windows 10 Performance: Gaming and Applications | TechSpot WWW.TECHSPOT.COM Windows 11 is coming. We didn't plan on testing it just yet, but with so many Windows 11 benchmarks out there with mixed results, we thought we... Edit: just updated to win11 via insider preview. Windows has come full circle, from blocky to rounded to blocky and now rounded again.
