  1. Looks like China doesn't want the US to own too much stock in Chinese companies. https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/nio-alibaba-lead-losses-for-u-s-listed-stocks-of-chinese-companies-after-didi-delisting-news/ar-AARrm0t?PC=EMMX01 I had some Nio stock. Sold it after hearing about this.
  2. Yea... Haha I'm not the cleanest person around... Mostly the cinder blocks were an impromptu thing but that center speaker is so big I couldn't figure out how else to fit it in between my two TVs... My living room is kinda long and narrow which makes setting up home theater a little awkward.
  3. FTC sues to block Nvidia's takeover of Arm WWW.TECHSPOT.COM The FTC announced the suit on Thursday, citing concerns about innovation and competition as a... Seems like the right move for sure.
  4. I didn't know we had a thread for this. I have speakers! I've got 2 Klipsch RB5MA speakers, a Klipsch center speaker of similar quality, a Klipsch R-10SW subwoofer (300 watts) and two lesser quality infinity rear speakers all hooked up to a Pioneer receiver for 5.1 surround. On the PC side I'm using a Sound Blaster Z and optical audio cables. I tried HDMI surround sound for a little bit but the options for speaker settings are much more limited with HDMI so I switched back to analog. I'd definitely call myself an audiophile.
  5. Any good thrift stores near you? Usually the ones near me have monitors like that for pretty cheap.
  6. Definitely no argument here. Still I'm not going to deny myself enjoyment from a new game in my favorite PC series. Bf1942 is what got me into PC gaming. Also I think it has improved substantially since it released already.
  7. Just came across this well made video on one of my favorite games. Figured I share. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FcRC8MNr1Lw
  8. I have played every PC BF game except bf5 (tried it, didn't like that they avoided doing any well known maps/battles). To me 2042 plays extremely similar to 3/4 and if you liked those games there is no substantial reason not to like 2042. Bugs are a legitimate complaint, but even on that front I'm not having many issues. Perhaps part of the disappointment is that it's too similar to 4 and therefore doesn't feel all that new. Everytime I start playing I end up playing for hours. It does take a while to get the map flow down and maybe people have up too soon due to early bugs. I think people are also forgetting how bad bf4 was at launch too.
  9. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/7-eleven-and-nuro-begin-autonomous-vehicle-deliveries-in-california/ar-AARl9ej?ocid=mmx&PC=EMMX01 To my knowledge this is the first time autonomous vehicles are being used for anything like this.
  10. This is not a site for political debate. This is about the satellite missile test, and the information I have presented about that here is accurate.
  11. Here is a good video on the subject from a guy who isn't natively American nor part of the media. His credentials: While studying at the University of Glasgow, Manley received a BSc (1990–1994) in physics and astronomy, and an MSc (1994–1995) in computational physics a year later. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mvdQcDDUV1o
  12. It's important to remember that NASA is not a political entity. It's a collection of literal rocket scientist. They don't fear monger. The ISS (and apparently also star link satellites) are already performing avoidance maneuvers because of the debris left from the Russian test. This really isn't political. What Russia did was extremely irresponsible. When China did the same thing several years back, like Russia, China did not fully consider to consequences of space debris. Because of the debris they created, they were forced to rely on NASA to track the debris and relay that info to them so they could maneuver their own satellites out of the way of the debris they created. It's easy to think the media is biased and therefore things are not what they seem, but that's simply not the case here. US media has a lot of issues but the reports on this are accurate. Russian media is state run so the logic of giving that any weight is non-existent. This orbital stuff is simple math and physics.
  13. Appreciate the perspective but it's simple not accurate that what Russia did with this missile test was unproblematic. The US did test an anti satellite missile but it was a long time ago before much was known about the dangers of orbital debris. Only China and Russia have engaged in reckless anti satellite missile testing by using derelict satellites instead of designated targets when they should have known better. It's a fact that the ISS now has to perform avoidance maneuvers in order to avoid the risk of hitting debris caused by Russia, the media didn't make that up. When India tested their anti satellite missile they launched a designated target into a very low orbit so there would essentially be no debris. Russia on the other hand decided to use an old derelict satellites instead to save money and avoid having to create a safe target. I'm sure the media here paints a biased picture of Russia, but what Russia did was seriously irresponsible and they only did it this way to save money and/or send a political message. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/elon-musk-says-starlink-satellites-have-had-to-dodge-debris-from-russia-s-anti-satellite-missile-test/ar-AARjn6f?ocid=uxbndlbing&PC=EMMX01
  14. Looks like a new covid strain is going to be sending stocks down for a while.
  15. https://www.reuters.com/article/apple-repair-idCAKBN2I21IZ Very on brand for Apple. If you can't screw people out of repairs, make yourself look like the good guy. Well played Apple, well played.
  16. Yea definitely a fair point. Doesn't bother me much personally but I agree they are oddly similar for a game like this. The most common but for me is the reload message not going away after reloading.
  17. Epic CEO Blasts Apple and Google, Calls for Single App Store WWW.YAHOO.COM (Bloomberg) -- Epic Games Inc. Chief Executive Officer Tim Sweeney renewed his attack on Apple Inc... would be nice. Seems pretty unlikely.
  18. Battlefield 2042 Becomes One of Steam's Worst-Reviewed Games, While It's One of Its Most Played - IGN WWW.IGN.COM A rough launch for Battlefield 2042 has seen it become one of the worst-reviewed games on Steam, despite... Most people have probably already heard about this, but news has been slow lately so posting this anyway. I like that this article actually points out that the game is popular despite the reviews. I believe it has been the top selling game on steam since it launched despite the reviews. Personally I think the reviews are totally overblown. I've seen a lot of complaints about things being removed that were not actually removed and just a lot of general misunderstanding and misinformation about the game. In my experience it has some bugs but otherwise plays pretty well, feels a lot like BF4 but bigger.
  19. ‘Armageddon’ now: NASA’s asteroid-deflecting DART mission launches tonight – TechCrunch TECHCRUNCH.COM I live in Sacramento so I should be able to see it briefly.
  20. I am aware of this but that program was aimed at shooting down ICBMs, not satellites. On top of that, as I understand it that program failed to produce meaningful results. Now days shooting down an ICBM would be simple with lasers, which is why we are seeing the development of super sonic stealth ICBMs now.
  21. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pfV0KTYAK4E Just some Forza gameplay.
