So I messed with the tweaks cuase I was bored at work. I need to do some more stability testing. but offset of -30 nad max boost +200. Cinebench 24 score of 1379, boosted to 5.4 the whole time. Didn't go above 75C.

Appreciate it. I expedited my kiddos desktop build so I purchased a new case for me. My case and new cooler arrive tomorrow so when I get those I expect better temps and I will look into the fiddling.

I'm not sure I have this cooler installed very well, idling at like 43c. It shoots up into the 80s and 100% fan when it gets going loading a game or compiling shaders. It generally calms down to anywhere between 60-75 when gaming. I looked up the temp and its like 95 so I'm safe but it seems high to me. Edit: Arctic is sending me the bracket, and I decided to get the newer version of the Liquid Freezer 360, so I'll swap that out when it comes. I'll keep this one for a living room PC at some point and my old arctiv is going go in a kiddos computer that I'm building with my leftover stuff. 10 year old with a 3080 and 12700k for minecraft lol

Well I seem to have lost all my extra hardware for my Artic Freezer and I can't find anywhere to just buy the mounting kit. I will gladly pay the 7 dollars Arctic lists it for but I can't buy lol. I reached out to them via support. Might be using that free MSI cooler for a bit at least lol.

Thanks. My impatient self based on your reply and someone else's on OCN has led me to the B850 version of the Tuf, and I got a 32GB 6000 CL28 corsair kit. All will be here thursday and I got free MSI Mag 360 AIO cooler, doubt its better then my arctic Freezer 2 360 though.

I have an itch to do an upgrade. I think I'm going to get a new case as well but we can skip that for now. I want to get a 9800X3D as I think the 9950X3D is just stupid overkill. I only game on this machine. That being said I am just so out of the loop with Motherboards and memory. I do like to tinker and overclock but not to the point where I'm trying to squeeze every ounce of performance out of my chip. I moderate OC is really all I would be looking for if I do it. I don't need WiFi although they all seem to have it anyway. I do like my Asus tuff that I have now. SO this is what I was thinking and am assuming I would feel it over my 12700k. Really need some memory reccomendations though lol. I would say Ideally I don't want to go above 1k but I can if there is performance that is worth it. I don't remember how old it is to be honest. I thin it was new around the 3080 becuase I had to replace my Seasonic prime as it couldn't handle the transient power spikes and my computer would shut down. I got if from someone here or from OCN. Its Specifically is model SF-1000F14MP. I have it hooked up and it seems to running great. My plan was to replace it with another superflower but I wasn't sure what one to get. I'll loo at the two you suggested. I panic bought a Asus rog strix 1200w but I might cancel that lol. Edit: I cancelled the Asus picked up the 1300w GX. The other one has weird universal 9pins that creeped me out and was more expensive. I also def need a new one cause within the next year I'm gonna set my son up with a desktop and I'll need a PSU since the seasonic I have won't work for the 3080 (and I lost he cables)

So I impulse ordered a PNY 5090 OC. I kinda forgot they have the newer connectors and I have a 1k Leadex super flower. I only have three NVME drives, and a few fans including an arctic 360 cooler for my cpu. Should I go bigger, or go for one that has the native connectors or is the adapter good to go? If I should change, what should I look into been a while since I bought a PSU.

However right now I'm thinking (since work was nice to me) that I might get a 5090 (in a pre built ) and then between that, my current setup, and my spare parts I can put him together a really nice right with a 3080 that he doesn't need haha. So the question becomes, who would you order a pre built from. Technically I really only care about the 5090 and maybe the PSU that comes in it but if I'm gonna do it might as well get a good one he can have the case, I'll steal the other stuff and shove it in my Meshify 2. I'm also contemplating a 5080, seems like its a good 75% faster then my 3080 10gb.

Minor, can be ignored, and I'm probably the only one. More then once I have spent a good while looking for the save button after editing a post. I vote for a relable for my simple mind to something like "Save Edits" lol. I keep reading over "Edit Post" thinking I'm signing up to edit it again not save it.

So I have a nzxt case laying around. He already has peripherals. I think realistically all I need is a gpu/MB/CPU/Ram. I have SSDs, like what else is there been a while since I built a full computer lol. Assuming i'm correct (Pretty sure I am), the most demanding games the kid plays are poppy playtime and fortnite. He is turns 9 this year, so hes getting close to either turning the leaf to realing games or giving up gaming......So I want to get CPU/GPU combo that won't break the bank but can offer him more in teh futuer if he expands. He games at 1080p 100hz right now and that probably won't change for a while. Could I get a decent used combo for 500 USD or so and what would you guys look at? Or am I better off driving to a costo or microcenter and just grabbing a sub 1k prebuilt and ripping it apart, or leaving it alone to be honest. Money isn't an issue for what he needs, I just want to save a buck if I can since I really only need 3 components. But if buying him a more modern complete makes sense I can do that too.

My understanding is its a bitter deeper than this. I read an article that alleges that they were using developer openai accounts to link their models and just leech off and learn from the ai models. So they didn't have to train their models.

I wonder what kind of difference this chip would make for me without a GPU upgrade. I am also on 4k. I'm assuming a GPU upgrade with this chip is going to be in my future.

I'm intrigued for sure. I'm definitely going ryzen for my next build, don't think I have used AMD since before q6600 GO stepping was the thing lol. I think there is a perception thing that is clouding this. When ryzen came out AMD was not competitive at all so them releasing ryzen was amazing but if I remember correctly it was quite a bit behind the current Intel chips. Also had all the memory issues. The fact that intel is, well intel, I think there is some bias that they should release their first chiplet design with a new arch that also blows everything out of the water. Maybe I'm overstating the impact of their shift from monolithic cores but I feel like this should make us all happy as they dial this new plan in.

E, the fact that you got us here is something to be very proud of. I don't post as much as I did on our previous home when I was not a father, employee, or frankly and adult. But you have always fostered a great community focused on the right things. Sad news for sure but I wish you the best in everything and totally understand where your coming from, I couldn't do this. So perusing the article, this is Intel's version of a chiplet design right? Basically their Ryzen? I browsed the techspot article, I know understand that it doesn't redefine the world, but seems like a solid product considering the power reduction. Interested to see what intel squeezes out of this over time. I'm probably going ryzen for my new years build but who knows, maybe they do something by then.

So my plan is to build out a new computer sometime after the launch of the 5 series cards. My leaning right now is I will go for a 5090 and just be done for a few years for my needs. With that in mind, I'm looking for a new case for this build and I'm thinking I may want to go full tower instead of mid tower. My current Meshify 2 doesn't feel like it would have much room if any for any kind of add on card with a 5090 shoved into it haha. I don't necessarily need a full tower but here are my needs in priority order: Fit a 5090 (Understand we can't guarantee until we know its size) Quality (I know this is subjective, but I have not followed the case game in a long time) Primarily Air Cooled, Will most likely reuse my Arctic Frozer 360 but will definitely have an AIO for the CPU. Fit at least a sound card (this might be more Mobo driven, but my current board would struggle to fita sound card even with a 3080. I know the modern motherboards sound is okay, I just find how they handle switching between headphones and speakers to be annoying. Or I'm doing something wrong but my sound cards usually let me really have separate settings. Possibility of Watercooling one day. I'm not super worried about price but I'm not an extreme overclocker heck I barely overclock anymore. So while I appreciate quality, I probably also don't need anything special like a case labs. Edit: Hmm Fractal makes a XL version of the meshify..... The pop air xl looks pretty nice too.

I was wondering that as I did more reading. Well I can't take a picture now cuase its not doing it. But it seems like the pixel shift. There is like a very thin line where the screen just looks off. I'm not missing anything on the screen that I can tell. I notice the shift when it happens so I'll just keep on eye on it. I think its the first time I noticed and it was just jarring to me hah.

So I love this thing, but today I noticed that there is about a quarter inch on both sides that isn't utilized with my PC. I only noticed becuase a UI element of the tv was showing where I thought the screen ended haha. Is this normal due to aspect ratio or something? I tried googling but I failed to find anything. It only seems to be on the left side of the screen. Additionally I use two monitors with the secondary monitor being on the left of the LG. Edit 2: Its probably only an 1/8th of an inch and definitely only on the left side.

21 for handguns is federal law, as is 18 for long guns. Some states I believe have upped even long guns to 21. I don't think the age is the problem, there always seems to be someone who knew the person bought a gun, knew they were not right, might have said something might not, and no one properly investigated. Now I'm not a fan of red flag laws as most are currently implemented as they remove due process completely a lot. I think the US needs to enforce the rules they have better and be very consistent. Our gun laws haven't changed much (they became a bit more restrictive) but guns have always been a part of the US. IMO other factors are driving gun violence and the vast majority (aside from suicide which is like half of gun deaths in the US) is a result of another already illegal activity. I don't think violent games drive people to do violent things either. I'm clearly not a psychiatrist with no background in it but I just don't buy that a perfectly normal kid turns into a murderer by playing GTA or COD. If anything COD would make you want to join Special Operations military groups I would think. I forgot who said it earlier but I agree that there is something else there going on. Its possible they play those games to get their fix to whatever is really wrong and at some point it doesn't do enough anymore. Just my thoughts.....But if they win these law suits things are going to change. Daniel Defense has never once marketed their firearms for killing innocent civilians. In fact I have never seen marketing where killing has ever been the focus. Its usually defense or be like the SEALs (which are good guys).
