  1. What they do on the enterprise side doesn't excuse bad practices on the consumer side, much of which requires time and money on their part to design such proprietary parts and in doing so, planned obsolescence. If their concern is business class (which I agree it is), why are they spending the time and money developing all this proprietary stuff on the consumer side you find literally any time you open up a Dell system? Doesn't make sense to me and them being a great business solution doesn't excuse crappy practices on the consumer side. So their concern is business class, cool seems to me you'd want to use standardized parts on the consumer level then so you can keep more money and time devoted to your business segment. Something doesn't jive.
  2. So, my distilled flushes went long as I got pulled away by work. I went and completed the distilled flushes and there is nothing in the microfins now. So seems like maybe was some sort of residue that got cleaned and then flushed? I really don't know. Took the block apart too and everything looks good, as does the nickel plating.
  3. Good call. Will do a closer inspection when I take the block apart. Blue could also be from the Blitz Part 2, it is a bit blueish. Will see.
  4. Starting my distilled flush runs following the Blitz Part 2. Some blueish gunk ended up in the microfins (my mistake for forgetting to add the filter back to this run), so will have to open up the block and clean that out. Not really sure what the gunk is from as the tubing and pump already ran through a Blitz Part 2 cycle and is only connected with the block. Maybe the block had some sort of residue that cycled through and deposited on the fins. Who knows. Always clean your stuff folks.
  5. Yeah I noticed that too with the Leap. I've always used the normal version without one and liked it at the office, but for home, definitely like the look of the Gesture.
  6. Nice! This one is definitely on my short list when the time comes to replace my own racer chair. I got used to having the full back though, so this definitely looks like a good option.
  7. That's a classic. Before Corsair and EK took over the watercooling shelves at my local Micro Center, could always find these stocked. I was actually looking for a cheap little res to have on hand a few weeks ago, but alas they don't seem to stock these anymore in favor of just Corsair, EK, Bitspower stuff.
  8. Running the new block through a Blitz Part 2 run, just to make sure its all clean. Everything else of course has been cleaned already and is ready to go. Glad I got that extra gallon of distilled water. Does anyone have any suggestion for a 12-pin PCIe cable solution that is individually sleeved or maybe even paracord? Found a few things out there, but just not sure. I'm usually very wary of cable extensions and such. The sleeved cables I used on my AX750 and the new set I got for the RM1000x are both made by Corsair, so figured they were safe. But doesn't look like they offer an individually sleeved version for the 12-pin.
  9. Looks like it has most of the features I personally like from the Leap, mainly the fully adjustable armrests, and adjustments in how it does the recline, seat depth, lumbar. Only thing missing is the lean feature where reclining back also slightly leans the rest of the chair on the Leap. I personally am not a fan of mesh chairs/backs, but that's just me and my personal preference. I worked another office for about a year that had Herman Miller Aeron chairs and personally I didn't like them at all. I see why others would like them. I think this looks like a nice chair for the money.
  10. 120Hz would be preferable, but not critical like they are for people who play shooters. I mostly play RPG's, survival, etc. I got CP2077 and Control waiting for me when this new rig gets built.
  11. Thank you, will give this a watch. Only concern here is its a size downgrade from the 32" I have now. You know, I thought hard about a 48" LG C1, but there is no way I can realistically have a 48 inch OLED where my desk is. Not just because of the size, but also that room gets tons of direct sunlight. Wonder if they'd make a 42" or something smaller in the future? I'll take a look at some of your other suggestions as well.
  12. Not necessarily something I want to jump into right away, but now that I have a 3080 Ti, I am thinking maybe I should move up from 1440p to 4k to really make full use of it. I don't really play competitive shooters or anything where I am looking for high refresh gaming necessarily. I really don't know what to look for. All I can say for sure is that I do not like curved screens, and the 1440p display I have now is a 32" LG, which I have been happy with for the most part, though colors could be better.
  13. For $300-$400 I'd look for maybe a secondhand/refurbished Steelcase Leap. Every time I use one, I am reminded as to why it is my favorite office chair. Armrests that move anywhere you want them in whatever direction you want them, and pretty good ergonomics overall for the low back and leaning features. I've had this chair at two jobs now (at the office anyway), and I love it. Very sturdy too.
  14. LOL! Was thinking more the cable mess with 3 drives and such, but guess can at least lose the fans. Still, may pop down to Micro Center and see if there is a cheap case I can transfer current rig into for now as I suspect the new one will take me a lot longer to get up and running given the hard line (and first time attempting it). On another note, does anyone have any suggestions for good individually sleeved/paracord cables for the PCIe 12-pin? Will use the included adapter for now, but is definitely a little unsightly. I have a paracord set to use with the RM1000x.
  15. Cleaned up the dust and waterblock is here. Hope to get started this weekend. May need to find a cheap case to put my current rig in so I am not down while building this new one into my existing case.
  16. Well it was definitely time for me to retire my 4790k/GTX 980 system, but I suspect I'll be content with my 5900X/3080 Ti system for years to come.
  17. It's here... Waterblock should be here later today. While not using the air cooler, will give it a good cleaning as well as the fans.
  18. Yeah, 5900X at sub $400 is a no brainer for sure! As for GPU's, most of them seem to be getting very close to their MSRPs now. I know the Micro Center here has had AMD cards sitting on shelves for months now. So looking at that box, is it a reference style 6900XT?
  19. Oh interesting. Don't think I've ever had one of those, but I am also not really in technical roles anymore.
  20. I had this one interview probably a decade ago when I was still in desktop support. The question wasn't even technical in nature. The manager asked something dumb about if certain trees only grew on the north side of the mountain because "reasons"? I don't recall the exact question unfortunately, but it was something like that. I just looked at him and said, is this the question where you want my answer to be "I don't know, I'll have to look it up?" because if not, then that is a weird question. Yeah I didn't get the job, but that was indeed the reason he asked it. I still think it was dumb. Better to ask me actual technically related questions and if you hit me with something I don't know, I'll tell you.
  21. I've got some good flow going. Just cleaning it up to not be too verbose, and definitely have some more sections to write.
