  1. I hate ringing phones so mine is perpetually on vibrate or silent mode (mostly silent) and instead my Android watch vibrates on my wrist to tell me when something is going on. The only thing that can get through and actually make noise is the app for work pages if there is an outage call I need to jump on.
  2. Shout out to my 4790k keeping me going for the past 7+ years.
  3. Bant because "Idahoan" sounds funny when you say it out loud, which I did.
  4. Well getting ready to get in the rest of my parts needed to finish my new build. I stopped at a couple stores this week and no one has distilled water. Anyone one else seeing a lack of distilled water in their areas?
  5. Good call out! Which SW3's do you use @Avacado?
  6. I think I decided on the SW3's, but a little unsure on which one to get since they seem to have 4 models for each size. I am going for 120mm. So I want to control them, so will get the PWM's. But is there any other difference between the regular and the high speeds besides what their max speed is?
  7. Bant for continuing to make me think of dinosaurs (but secretly I like it).
  8. Yeah, really what I wanted to go with, but like you will just wait. Figured a cheap one can tide me over for now. As for Leakshield, interesting concept, but I imagine has some kinks to work out. Looked like it could be very finicky.
  9. The 30mm vs 25mm height of the T30's rules them out for me. I'm not sure I'll have the clearance on the thick rad mounted up top with those. I have a bunch of old Gentle Typhoon AP-15's from like 12 years ago in a box somewhere. Problem I had with them were that they didn't always undervolt gracefully without some weird noises.
  10. Any difference between the regulars or the high RPM PWM versions. Thought about getting the high RPM versions for the few occasions I might want to try an OC session or something, but otherwise wonder if there is any difference between the two models ramped down to 1000-1100 RPM?
  11. Engineering feeds a lot of work into my area, and while I do not have a technical job anymore, I have in the past. Now I've more been involved on the software side of engineering, so if your questions are more specific to the areas you outlined (server, networking), then I might not be the best help, but if you have some more general questions, happy to help answer if you think there is any value there. EDIT: For clarification, I am not a developer, but have extensive experience with release/deployment side of software. That has been in technical roles in the past, but these days are more in the process side. I can get into more detail in PM if interested.
  12. Ah, that makes sense. I completely forgot about FormulaMod. I'll keep them in mind next time I am looking for stuff. EDIT: Ok I looked, guess I thought they were a different shop. Seems they just have all the Bykski, Barrow, Barrowch stuff. I'll let you know what it looks like when I get it.
  13. True. But then if I go that route I just end up spending more in the long run. I think I'll mull it over today and then go from there.
  14. Yep, I went in knowing it will not be as accurate, but I'd rather have something than nothing for now and then upgrade down the road when I can actually get my hands on an Aquacomputer model. I will definitely take a look at the internals. Good call out. So I had assumed you had these based on this post, but sounds like you meant the Bykski, or have both?
  15. Update: Was tired of waiting. I ended up just getting an in stock Barrowch from PPCs. This one: Barrowch display OLED integrate water temperature meter and flow - Silver FBFT05-SL WWW.PERFORMANCE-PCS.COM With this OLED Display In-Line Temperature Sensor w/ Alarm from Barrowch you can have digital readout of your tempatures as well as alarm feature that can shutdown the PC. With its sleek deign this... Will see how it goes. I think these were the ones you had a couple of @Avacado?
  16. Oh I've never seen this channel before. I just found that searching after I had heard the reports. Nice to hear you have no issues. Edit: Anyway, probably between these and the SW3's at this point. I meant to say was looking at the NF-A12 Chromax fans (accidentally said NF-F12) and seems too expensive from what I see out there. Almost $33 a fan. But does appear to be what I am looking for noise wise for a fan based on charts I've seen around 1000 RPM. I don't know. Decisions decisions.
  17. The noise issues with the P-12's I have heard about is very specifically around certain RPM's, not maxed out like you have it. Here was the example I found:
  18. Sadly the brown is a total deal breaker for me. I'd like to think I am not completely shallow here, but I do have a black/gold/white theme going on and that's just a step too far.
  19. Yeah, don't blame you there if that was the experience you had and they didn't work with you properly to get it addressed. FrozenCPU used to be my go-to before their debacle in 2015. In fact some of the stuff in my current rig built around that time was from my last order with them before that went down and I had to get the rest from PPCs. So far they've been treating me fine. So, I just put in a PPCs order for the rest of the watercooling stuff I needed: various fittings, white hardline acrylic tube in 14mm, temp/flow meter, some bending tools and some extra stop fittings for when I clean the rads. So that leaves me with just needing to get 9 120mm fans. I am still sort of in that analysis paralysis on what to get. I typically like to run around 1000-1100 RPM. Part of me says just get the 3-pack Arctic P-12's because they are cheap but good, but I keep seeing reports of noise issues with them at the RPMs I like to run at so not sure. Then was thinking Silent Wing 3's. Also looked at these Noctua NF-A12 Chromax fans, but not seeing those available at a decent price. I think I'll probably just end up with the SW3's if I can find the right ones in stock. I see @iamjanco just ordered some off Amazon, so will take a look. Edit: Meant NF-A12, not NF-F12.
  20. I did not, but am not surprised. I wondered how this might affect things downstream and there you go.
  21. GPUs have been steadily going down for a bit now. Still way crazy for sure, but that's the current trend. I am not sure how long that will last though.
  22. What's funny is that I've been out of the technical work side of IT since like 2014 for anything support related, but everyone assumes "IT, must know how to fix everything". Sure if its hardware related, np. Windows problems these days? Forget about it. I wouldn't even know how to navigate and find half the stuff in 10/11. When I was doing desktop support it was largely still Windows XP, slowly transitioning to Windows 7 lol. I'm still on 8.1 on my current PC. Still not sure if I should put 10 or 11 on the new one.
