Interesting to see a 38mm low RPM fan, like a weird industrial hybrid for radiators. I use Delta AFB1212GHE which can be had for $11.xx from newegg here (with patience on that asia first shipping business...). I'd be interested to know what cfm / h2o / noise level I'm getting in realistic use with fan controller at similar RPM to these Maltemis. I would imagine these EK fans are stupid quiet. Only downside to the Delta is the need for a fan controller that can take a good 3 amps per channel, but worth it when you get bored and want your PC to transform into a hovercraft..

My 3700x falls right in line with a middle of the road silicon lotto chip for heavy avx loads. If you look at games, any difference practically vanishes. With PBO on +200 while gaming my chip does 4275 all core. Still hoping for ..a tad more.. from a bios update since I don't get advertised boosts, but whatever. Honestly, given how tiny the difference is, I feel like they shouldn't even have bothered separating them. 3800x should be the 12/24 chip and 3900x should be the 16/32.. Here's hoping they drop a 4950x for AM4 on the updated node with a bit more headroom. I like the 3700x but it certainly wasn't necessary to spend as much as I did on an x570 board (aorus pro wifi). I bought this insanely over powered VRM for a chip that absolutely brick walls at around 115 watts !

Zen2 TR 16-24 core will be an insane workstation/gaming rig hybrid. It's really too bad SLI/CFX is kind of dead in the water right now or HEDT would be huge in the gaming market too IMO. Honestly though, I'm just waiting patiently for them to come out so I can scoop up somebody's 1950x for cheaper than they already are. Most of my CPU time is compiling w/ GCC on an old FX 8320 so that's going to be a titanic upgrade... already have seen 1950x + x399 taichi combos second hand going for less than I paid for my 3700x setup already.

Yeah, games are getting huge these days.. I recently grabbed a decommissioned 3TB WD Black from ebay for $50 for a game drive.... got lucky, only had a few hundred hours on it and a couple current pending sectors in smart.. Zeroed it out and the errors are still gone.. good enough for a poor mans fast-ish game drive.

I figured maybe those complaints were hotspot temps, I used to see numbers getting close to that on my vega 64 (not after going under water though). 110C does concern me though. Already have enough to deal with having the x570 chipset . eh.. given the performance and temps I think the 2080 is the existing card for me.

Really? I heard plenty of good things about the 5700xt. My only concern was the high power consumption for such a small die on 7nm. A scaled up Navi may be another vega 64 scenario power/heat wise which I want to avoid unless the arch gets tweaked. I do think I'd like just a little more performance than a 2070 or 5700xt have on the table though. Nvidia of course has the high prices. I'd probably take the plunge on a 2080 for $499 new if that happens any time soon. it's still a weird time for upgrades tbh. I'm back and forth.

Any idea when we can expect something new from AMD re big navi or even RTX 3000? I too just listed my ref v64 + bykski block for sale but at the same time inherited a 3440x1440 100hz panel. I'm worried the 5700xt isn't going to be enough so it may end up being a used RTX 2080 for me (at least then I could play quake 2 RTX )

I didn't have to do any such thing. If it's going into your cart on the web page, something is wrong. That happened to me too. Just make sure you have the uplay launcher installed and it should try to launch it from the browser. THIS is the link that launched uplay and gave me the game (not sure if it will work here though)

Forgot to mention I got it working. For some reason if I had the ubisoft launcher open, it would just give me a popup asking for an activation key. I closed the uplay app completely and let it relaunch from the link in the browser and boom.. free game!
