  1. I don't think it would be a big deal if AMDs entry into RTX is lackluster, one could say the exact same about RTX 2xxx as it is anyway. AMD just needs a big gain in straight up raster. Unfortunately, it's become blindingly apparent that cost per transistor is on the rise with every new node that comes along. Everyone is hoping big navi will come in and drop market prices back down to how they were in the Maxwell days but I don't see it happening on the high end right now. Power consumption is also concerning when navi 10 (250mm^2) is pumping out 225~ watts. Exciting times for ray tracing but they won't be budget times
  2. Hmm maybe the default setting after installation was based on hardware. Mine definitely started out at 1366x768. No matter though, I just think they should show your settings + hardware config and clock speeds in the results. And yeah look at that, I couldn't tell a difference between very high and ultra Would have to see more of what comes from this demo. If you look into some analysis done on it, it's super heavily optimized e.g. very few moving objects, only nearby objects in the reflections are ray traced while distant objects are rendered using other methods. Only mirror like objects get raytraced reflections. Low poly object reflections. Low res reflections. That said.. that's all being done using traditional shaders and it looks incredibly fantastic, but how expensive is it on the shaders? e.g. how would this perform in an actual game like Battlefield V relative to RTX setting on low or medium using an RTX card? As far as I can tell the demo and engine are proprietary and so are rtx cores minus some very basic understanding I have of their function and the algorithm they were designed to optimize... No way to make a guess.. I see this going the way all of Nvidias proprietary hardware implementations go.. Nvidia will have the decidedly best and most advanced (and premium costing) solution for a number of years until either traditional shaders get modified or AMD (or intel?) makes an open source alternative. Nvidia will also politely convince AAA devs to implement hardware raytracing so we all wish we had their card (this is a bit better than hairworks )
  3. Banned for banning me for banning you with helpful insights and 42s and meaningful universe altering advice. And now back to riding my horsie in RDR2
  4. What settings are you guys running? We should establish a default so our scores are a bit more normalized... Crytek should show relevant specs in the results What a nice benchmark. The reflections look absolutely stunning, no difference that I can see between that and the "established" raytracing w/ RT cores. Here is a 980Ti @ 1420mhz core / 3900 mem (on default and 1080P) 4000 mem (4k)... It performs shockingly well at 1080P, this tech would easily make a 1080Ti viable in games for a few more years. Not sure how the 980Ti would fare once more assets are thrown in the mix, probably fairly well. Default (I believe that was 1366x768), RT ULTRA, windowed, no loop 1080P, RT ULTRA... windowed, no loop for giggles... 4k, rt ultra, windowed, no loop.. that ran about how you would expect a benchmark to run on contemporary hardware
  5. Subbed, thanks man! I've read through some of your posts / guides on OCN numerous times as well. You should seriously consider doing this on youtube as well for those who prefer not reading
  6. Well.. I could really use a PSU myself. So count me IN this time!!! .... Hmm extra points for a useful guide or news. I'll see what I can do there... I made a post on twitter and FB and followed everything, hope some fresh blood comes from this. I tried to scratch out any personal things obviously...
  7. Banned for puny sig rig. My overclocked Tualatin (aptly named Tualadon) runs circles around puny 2990WX Also wall of errors in place of header on this page... undefined constants for facebook, twitter, etc. Assuming that's known
  8. Banned cuz I am now an ehw master centrist Nya ha ha ha ha
  9. Banned cuz I have a lot of EHW catching up to do while right aligned
  10. Banned for working in a cubicle. I work in a warehouseicle when I'm not working from homecicle. hope you're better by now Simmons. Being sick is butt. And not a nice butt but like an old butt.

  15. Banned for being from GA and SC at the same time. You must be stretchy rubber man
  16. I like simple myself. I've hated microsoft office since they started going the graphical route with icons. I prefer intuitive drop down menus and readable text. Alas the youngins disagree, they have no issue with graphics. that said, your library still retains the scrollable text list off to the left. Its still just as easy to navigate. I just hope they don't start feeding me ads on my library page.
  17. I'm in. Unfortunately I don't have much of a twitter following and I shrank my Facebook down quite a bit since college. I'll add some extra word of mouth promo help to toss my weight around a bit though. Sweet case, thanks E and InWin!
  18. Whats wrong with it on the android? My only issue is having to click 50 times on the notification bell before anything happens Banned cuz y'all come back now ya hear
  19. I've been using it since yesterday myself. Lots of angry souls out there but I think it's quite nice. My main gripe is that I'd like the personal stats (achievements, friends currently playing, etc) as the main focus on the left and the activity feed (which is completely dead on most games) off to the right or just in another tab. Small mode is also missing from this beta, I hope they bring that back. At least now on the top of the steam client it just shows my current steam name, rather than my login name. That was a big issue for streamers. Maybe move the "community content" out to another tab, it's using a bit of unnecessary data downloading a ton of gifs when I'm not even going to look at them. Some people are worried they're doing that so they can drop in ads soon.
  20. I think the name of those noiseblocker fans are easily confused ... "loop"... I also need to re-read what a router on a stick is. Either I'm over thinking it or it's just multiple vlans hooked into a single switch, switch back into the router silly networking peoplez
  21. Banned cuz I'm a lowly programmzer not a pshysististis/kemist. I can't even spell those werdz
  22. Banned cuz I measured it with an MS-DOS dhrystone benchmark meant for single core brains. I don't support multi threading.
  23. Probably about 10 ounces of roasted / salted almonds. Deep regret setting in. They're so addictive but can't be digested in massive quantities.
  24. Banned cuz I dig the new bar up top. Now I can skip over pook posts 37% more faster!
