Which speakers? I wonder if the anniversary editions will retain the classic sound or just be new speakers with heavy bass in the same chassis. I like retro looking things. My dad has a really nice looking Marantz receiver (4300?).. I forget what speakers and there's also another amp and analog EQ.. I don't think it would be well received by the modern electronic music crowd because it sounds so "warm". To me it's a beautiful sound when you hear the full gamut instead of airy bumping bass and flared out treble. Could be how he keeps the EQ set though but I always could tell the difference when he had that on. I'm no audio expert either, just have spoiled ears since I got my first pair of sennheiser cans back in 2002. Headphones always tend to sound way better than many thousand dollar stereos to me.

Crazy setup simmons! I don't blame dad for wanting to keep the old stereo... My dad has a setup from ca 1983 that he worships too. Time for college grads to get out there and buy their own 2019 high end stereo
