  1. Thanks for that, I think I'm between the following two options: 1) SSD 970 EVO 2) XPG SX8200 Pro PCIe Gen3x4 M.2 2280 Solid State Drive Both don't come with heat sinks, unless I go for the GAMMIX version of the ADATA drive, but that heatsink doesn't look all that useful. Any recommendations on 3rd party M.2 Heatsinks?
  2. That's an ambitious goal, maybe I should start a GoFundMe to build a ThreadRipper build to dedicate half of its resources to Folding@Home
  3. Picked up 4 of the fans, glad to see that those funds will go towards the EHWCFP ?
  4. Thanks for putting this spreadsheet together, filtering it is a little cumbersome, so I'm hoping that the ExtremeHW can help me out here. I'm looking for some new M.2 PCIe SSD's to use as Cache Drives on my UnRaid Server running on an Asus Prime X570-Pro with a Ryzen 3600x. I'm currently using two (2) Intel P660 512 GB M.2 SSD's: - One in the upper motherboard M.2 socket with 4 lanes connected direct to CPU - One in a PCIe 16x riser board that provides another 4x lanes direct to CPU I needed the riser board as the lower M.2 slot is connected to the X570 Chipset and this causes some sync errors between the two SSD's so the solution after working with Asus was to put in the riser board so both M.2 drives are direct to the CPU. So I'm looking for some good 1 TB drives to upgrade my Cache storage as well as better writes as I recently upgraded the network to 10 Gig.
  5. I'm running a pretty crude setup for my everyday: Laptop > USB-C > Fiio BTR3 > Yamaha R-S300 > Audio-technica ATH-M40x with Velour Pads OR Desktop > Optical > Schiit Modi 2 Uber > Yamaha R-S300 > Audio-technica ATH-M40x with Velour Pads The Schiit is starting to drop its output the odd time and need a cool-down so going to be looking at new DAC's soon, would love one with multiple USB inputs or multiple Optical Inputs. I use the Yamaha Receiver since I have a set of desktop speakers as well that I can quickly switch between Headphones and Speakers.
  6. Please provide any feedback you might have on the event or future events. It's ENTERPRISE's baby at this point, so be gentle, but feedback is always appreciated
  7. Generally adding another kit that is the same model number is fine as long as they are the same version and same timings. For example, the same Corsair Vengeance Kit could be B-Die or something else based on it's version number. Sometimes this is more obvious with different timings listed on the RAM stickers. You can use Taiphoon Burner to check. I would definitely make sure to run MemTest+ on the old kit on it's own, then the new kit on it's own, then all the sticks installed before you start using it full time. Ubuntu Desktop Images include MemTest+ on them as long as you boot from the USB stick NOT in UEFI more.
  8. Congrats to all the winners and a huge thanks to all those that participated.
  9. Can probably just use some kitchen vent-hood filters, or a furnace filter on the front. Run some thin weather stripping foam tape in the rectangle around the edge of the filter size you buy, then some industrial Velcro throughout to hold the filter in place and hold against the weather stripping.
  10. Rockets can be used to hurt enemies, make pretty light shows, activate other things, or can be used while flying/gliding/falling with style when using an Elytra.
  11. We are also at 198,521,713 points from 4,041 Work Units so far for the Team as a whole and for the event, 157,100,554 Points from 3,062 Work Units!
  12. I think you gave everyone plenty of time for the first competition, there was honestly more people folding than I expected for the first ExtremeHW event.
  13. Nah, all ENTERPRISE's faults for not scheduling his event around OCN's third Monday of every month event
  14. Wish I could help build this in person.
  15. No WU's for over two days now, kind of annoying, but at least that means that most of the WU's are getting completed hopefully so science is getting a nice boost.
  16. Love is not necessarily a mutual emotion, doesn't mean I'm not glad you're here though...
  17. No problem, VM's are definitely underrated, and in a growing computer and software controlled world, I feel everyone should strive to have some basic IT training. We use so many VM's at work for different software packages that need certain versions of Windows, or use weird versions of .NET or VBA that can be broken by newer official versions Windows Updates or other programs being installed that have newer versions bundled with them.
  18. Well at least this adapter has dedicated PCIe power power plugs, while the USB3 cable just essentially extends the PCIe lanes and it shielded. Depending on the Compute load, your mileage would definitely vary. All depends on how much data is being sent continuously over the PCIe bus or data being shared between system RAM and VRAM or CPU and GPU.
  19. So for work, there are a few older software for industrial PLC's and other instruments and control devices that are overly reliant on GPU acceleration, so I actually use the free version of VMWare Player with a Windows 7 VM to run that stuff without killing my main system's GPU performance. I also run things like Discord and Chrome in the VM so that it's not installed directly on my work computer.
  20. That needs a Thunderbolt Port though, and the 1x to 16x adapter I got actually works great for testing GPU's, horrible gaming performance, but at least gets a solid display output.
